My self-imposed NFL Boycott: Week 2

Linked by such august publications as the "Village Voice" (Yes... THAT "Village Voice") my self-imposed boycott continued on into it's second week as I, once again, engaged in life without the NFL.

Of course, it's not that particularly difficult under any circumstances when the team you've supported so much over the past 3 decades or so is the Seahawks... it's kind of like boycotting a molar extraction... without the Novocaine.

But if the 'hawks were undefeated, that would make no difference.

Bigotry is one of those peculiar tenets of life that does not lessen over time. The NFL's bigotry in failing to support Rush Limbaugh's effort to gain a minority ownership position in the forlorn St. Louis Rams has staked it out as just another leftist outfit, where anyone with a perspective to the right of Lenin is to be shunned; where ideas and their broadcast supercedes the criminal acts of many of the thugs wearing a helmet.

The NFL's rank hypocrisy is the thing, you see. To allow players with CRIMINAL records to get MILLIONS of dollars while instituting a double standard against someone because of their words is no less excusable now than it was last week. And it will be no less acceptable next week, or next season or 100 years from now... leftist double standard notwithstanding.

I say "leftist double standard" because we don't even have to BEGIN to discuss what the left would be doing if one of their more communist icons had been kept from buying a piece of an NFL team.

So, the boycott continues. For me, today, it's up to the shop to organize my tools for starting the thrid gen drag racing project.

It's amazing how much time this has freed up... I should have, perhaps, done this years ago.

Just a brief update in the world of $1100/oz gold, horrific and utterly nonsensical domestic and foreign policies (Whoever thought the word "dither" could ever successfully be applied to the word "Afghanistan?") my NFL boycott continues.

As a former jock that loves the game of football but was never all that great at playing it, I was sure I'd miss it or go though withdrawals or something.

But I don't.

There's an awful lot of college ball out there, and while certainly not completely free of the corruptive hypocrisy tainting the NFL, (See the moronic reinstatement of that scumbag Blount by the scumbag Ducks) I believe the efforts out there on the field on not based on any particular views or sentiments of any particular alum or booster.

Refusing to watch the NFL has been far easier than I thought it would be; I anticipate no difficulty in continuing to avoid watching them for the rest of my life or until they do the right thing, whichever comes first.

My NFL boycott continues, even for the Super Bowl.

So, here we are at what amounts to the last day of the NFL season. And my self-imposed boycott continues.

Typically, I'd be riveted to my 72 inch HD TV screen... because, after all, these teams are alleged to be at the top of their form, and a well played game is a thing of beauty.

But it is the NFL. And I haven't forgotten.

Like the former head coach of the Atlanta Falcons and then the Portland State Vikings, one Jerry Glanville, was want to tell us: The NFL means "Not For Long," since they continue to act with such rank hypocrisy on matters of race, fairness and politics.

So, I'm taking advantage of this fine day to watch the rest of "Silverado" and head to the grocery store. The lines should be short and most of the aisles clear.

And until the NFL gets their act together... I will do everything I can to avoid watching any of their games, and I will avoid buying any of their merchandise.

So, to everyone else, I say: have a great game. A game, in the end, shadowed by the shame of hypocrisy.

As I embark on my second year of ignoring the NFL for their politically correct bigotry, I can, as I watch the sun come up this fine August morning, review why pro ball will just have to continue on without me.

The recent revelation of what we already knew; namely, that the Seahawks were screwed by the refs in SB XL; combined with the nonsense about screwing Rush Limbaugh out of an ownership interest in the St Louis franchise because he doesn't happen, or didn't happen to share the owner's politically correct views of the world (at least publicly on the owner's part: privately, this collection of multi-millionaires are roughly as conservative as Adolf Hitler) is doing the job nicely.

What the hell good does it do to follow a team... become a loyal team fan and the like, just to have the zebras screw you?

And why watch a League that prides itself on left-wing bigotry and intolerance? Why support any organization that fosters that kind of attitude regardless of whether or not it's left or right?

Can't do it. Won't do it.

Right now, it's as worthless as NASCAR. And NASCAR, with their unidentifiable-except-for-the-stickers-on-the-cars races, is pretty worthless as their increasingly declining revenue and TV ratings are beginning to show. (NOTE to NASCAR: You want me back? Then get the cars back to the "run-what-you-build" standard. Knock of this "there is no part on a NASCAR racer that I can go down to Schucks and buy" crap. There isn't even a passing resemblance between what they're racing and what I can get in a show room. Change that, and we can chat. Otherwise... hell no.)

So, for the foreseeable future, I'm passing on the NFL network, pro ball on TV on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays and other days of the seemingly random pattern of TV games; the televised games between the .500 (or less) teams they frequently show when much better games are available; the just busted up monopoly between the NFL and Reebok for uniform items that cost more then crack because fans are dumb enough to pay for it.

Looks like I'm gonna have some time to get my car ready to race after all.

Another reason to boycott the NFL: NFL Star Fined For Calling Wife Mid-Game to Say He Was Okay

Regular readers know I've been avoiding the NFL games (as much as possible) because of their corporate bigotry.

Well, added to the impetus of bigotry, comes the bizarre idea that Pittsburgh safety Troy Polamalu should be fined $10,000 for calling his wife from the sidelines during a game to reassure her that he was all right after being removed from a game for a suspected concussion.

The NFL's non-reasoning is just another hint that they don't have a clue when it comes to public perception and reality.

Did Troy break the rules?

Sure did.

Could the NFL have taken a clue from the clue-bin and figured out that instead of tuning this into chicken poop, they could have turned it into chicken salad?

Sure could.

But they didn't.  And this is just another reason, for me, to change the channels.

And to the Powerblock show "Muscle Car," that I watched instead of the pre-game shows, thanks for showing that freshening a posi rear end isn't that much of a mystery after all.

And screw the NFL.

The first day of my self-imposed NFL boycott.

I'm putting this together in my home office, where I spend part of most every day, staying up on the issues.

It's 10:15 Sunday, and my TV is off the NFL for the first time ever on a Sunday.

It's off -permanently- and will stay off forever from any NFL game, pre-game or show of any kind.

Watching it now is the same thing as watching a play put on by the Klan. It's as distasteful and angering as watching an American nazi party rally. It's as sickening as an Obama press conference... or another Tim "The Liar" Leavitt whiney, snivelling news clip.

Our freedom as a people will not be lost over night. It will be lost in barely noticeable, baby steps... slowly, inexorably, away from our rights to express thoughts and ideas that those in power don't particularly appreciate.

Our freedoms aren't all that important for the majority. Their importance comes in when the issue is the freedoms of the minority.

The rank bigotry and hypocrisy shown by the left and the National Football League in the Limbaugh matter sickens me. The billions communities throw at the feet of the billionaires who own these fringe left millionaire "victims" of a non-existent racism, sickens me. It is my sincerest hope that Limbaugh sues the NFL out of existence.

Somebody, somewhere, has to scream "ENOUGH!" Somebody has to make a stand. Somebody has to tell the powerful that their ability to control lives ends where my nose starts.

I refuse to be a a part of it any longer. And anyone reading this who has the least amount of integrity or concern for our future as a nation will join with me in drawing the line in the sand that cannot be crossed.... for to do so is to do so at our peril.

Racism in the Academy Awards? Or a minority community entitlement pout session?

Look.

I don't give a damn about who gets an Academy Award.  I don't give a damn who presents.  I don't give a damn over who receives.  And I certainly don't give a damn over who hosts.

The main reason is that, in the end, none of that has the slightest importance.

It's like a television version of People Magazine or National Enquirer.

Even before the sonnet entitled  "It's Hard Out Here For A Pimp" received an Oscar for "best original song" in 2006, I was one of those who tended to ignore the whole thing as being no different than any of the other contrived, cheaper-to-produce-than-a-regular-show TV productions out there, such as the People's Choice, or the Grammy's, or the ESPYs or the Country Awards or whatever... and ad infinitum.

A movie, to my mind, isn't made better because of the successful expenditure of hundreds of thousands of dollars in ad campaigns designed to impact Oscar nominations.

Colleges do the same thing for Heisman voting.  And many of these statuettes go to college kids who turn out to have been the products of these campaigns but who, once in the NFL, wind up standing on the sidelines with clipboards while undrafted free-agents are named to the Pro-Bowl.

And, yes, I know full well that the Heisman is for who, allegedly, is the best COLLEGE player.  But really... is Johnny Football the best they had that year?

So now, none of the major Academy awards... or hell, none of the Oscars, period, are schlepped to "people of color."

And I really don't care.

But that a few are whining.... and bitching.... and moaning over it is yet another symbol of the minority sense of entitlement.  And as a country, that is our fault.

It takes a village to raise an idiot, our erstwhile former Secretary of State/democrat nominee.  And this country has raised the biggest group of idiots yet.

No one is owed anything in this country, save for our veteran population.  But even that was in return for services rendered.

I'm owed nothing because of my skin-color, and neither is anyone else owed anything because of theirs.

We've had decades of institutional racism in the form of Affirmative Action at all levels, the dirty little secret that has resulted in the plantation mentality where personal responsibility is not even mentioned, let alone inculcated into the core being that should be within all people.

So, a select few are pissed because the skin tone is a little too light to suit them, and they are "threatening to boycott."

Pressure is "building" on Chris Rock (the guy who gets to stand up there and make racist jokes and comments during this self-flagellation session) to bail out of his lawfully signed contract, to walk away from a rather substantial pay check for a few days work, presuming he bothers rehearsing, and such luminaries who, frankly, ARE boycotting (Jada Pinkett Smith?  Other than being "Wife of Will Smith," I can't recall ever hearing of her) WON'T be there, in part because "not enough people of color were nominated" and in part because her HUSBAND didn't get a nomination for his portrayal of the doctor in "Concussion" won't be missed.

Every year around this time, the musical coaching chair game is played in the NFL.

And every year around this time, the NFL owner's version of Affirmative Action, the requirement that the farce of interviewing a minority head coaching candidate MUST be followed, even if you have zero intention of hiring said minority, is played out.

And I, for one, don't care if ANY minority is EVER hired to run a football team.

Is that racist?

I don't believe so.  I believe, in fact, that it's the product of the knowledge that I, as an owner, want the best people available both working... and playing... for me out there on the field.  And the best people are the best people based on what they can DO... and not the tinges of color (or lack their of) that make up their genetic appearance.

But while many whine and bitch and moan about a dearth of diversity in the head coaching ranks... when was the last time any of those same people EVER complained about a dearth of diversity in the PLAYING ranks?

For example: in the NFL:

With 1155 players, the black population of the NFL runs away with a 68% majority. In a distant second are the 470 white players who make up 28% of the league. The following three racial categories, Other, Asian/Pacific Islander and Hispanic, make up a combined 4.36% of the league.Sep 23, 2014


In the NBA:

Here, we see that black players represent an astounding 68.9% of the player population, followed by white players, who constitute 21.7% of the league. The three remaining racial categories in the league – Hispanic, Asian and Mixed – combine to equal only 9.4%. Jeremy Lin is currently the only one holding it down for the Asian race in the NBA.

Do I begrudge minority players being the dominate force on the football and basketball courts?


Nope.  I could care less.  Skin-color aside, they are the best at what they do.  They've worked their asses off.  They've earned it and everything that comes with it.

But rather hypocritically, those in the race-baiting business don't complain about it, either.

And all of that goes to the basic hypocrisy of the racial business: the race-baiters of our country today, their ranks joined by this same Jada Pinkett Smith, also don't give a damn about THAT racial disparity.

There's no call for outreach to the Hispanic or Asian or even the White communities to increase player diversity to end the black dominance of these professional sports.

Why not?  Doesn't the equality they so strongly and seemingly care about demand it?

Of course not.  Situational ethics being what it is, racial disparity is only a bad thing for those on the receiving end, whether that receiving end is real... or perceived.  In this instance, that no other minority is represented in relation to their percentage in our society; the minimalist gold standard of diversity, personal accountability and achievement notwithstanding; is absolutely worthless to their side of this equation.

In short, racial disparity that benefits THEIR race is perfectly fine.

So, hypothetically, if the issue is "equality," why isn't it an issue everywhere, and not just where the race baiters want it?

So, Jada Pinkett Smith, you want to boycott the Oscars?  Knock yourself out.  You want to implement some sort of racial purity test to be involved in that situation?

Go for it.  Just don't expect to put butts in seats (Do you think Star Wars gives a damn after the first few billion dollars in ticket sales?) and after the dust settles, that's the ONLY thing out of all of this that DOES matter.

Our local utter leftist moron squeals like a piggy when he says "Limbaugh 'victimized' by capitalism." That's just one of his many lies.

Here, clearly, is an example where Limbaugh was, in fact, 'victimized' by lying, fringe left scum both within and without the media... many of whom now, after the deed was done, are "apologizing" for failing to do what this despicable rag fails to do whenever it suits them: and that is, verify the information they've recieved by checking out the source.

"Capitalism's" roll WILL be central to this issue when, hopefully, Rush takes each and every one of these lying scum, including the entirety of the NFL, to court and sues their collective asses off.

But that's the only place where capitalism is involvedf in this matter. The issue here is the crushing of an individual's financial plans in the form of a desire to become a minority ownership position in arguably the worst team in professional football, the St. Louis Rams.

The issue here is the "why" of it.

The lying scumbag running the NFL, Roger Goodell, claims that the NFL has "high standards."

The owner for the "Leaving Baltimore in the middle of the night because we're cowards" Indianapolis Colts says that, in effect, Rush is a racist and divisive.

So... Rush is, pardon the expression, blackballed not because he's killed someone; not because he's beaten his girlfriend; not because he's assaulted anyone; not because he refuses to follow the NFL's "substance abuse policies". It's not for running a dog fighting ring. It's not for stealing another teams signals. No... it's not for any of those reasons... reasons that failed to cause any of the recently passed practitioners of these activities to be kicked out of football.

Instead, it's for engaging in the very thing THIS idiot does every time his column of bovine feces is printed.

It's because Rush says words and has ideas that these people don't "like."

Odd, isn't it, how one of our most cherished freedoms only applies to leftists... and not to anyone else.

This is not and never has been about "having sympathy" for Rush. Instead, it's about having contempt for leftist scumbags like Laird who are so blinded by their own peculiar bias that when the rights of one are crushed, they fail to grasp that the crushing, in this instance, happened to be someone else.

So, Laird... how would you feel if your job was ended because of the crap in your columns?

Obviously, that'll never happen, since you've been taking a dump on this community since you arrived here, with apparent impunity.

Adding NASCAR to the NFL boycott.

Those who've read my meager effort here over the years know that I stopped watching/going to NFL games when this Kaeperpick nonsense started.  This upcoming season will be my fifth year of blowing the NFL off.

To that, we can now add the corporate moralists of NASCAR.

NASCAR, which has taken an anti-gun stance, can now add support of the terrorist group #BlackLivesMatter to their stable.

Yesterday, they announced they were banning the Confederate flag... much like Germany has banned the Nazi flag.

So, at a NASCAR race, you can BURN an American flag... but, By God, you had better not have evidence of a Confederate flag anywhere on your person, let alone on your car.

Further, Bubba Wallace, driving for Petty Racing, actually had a terrorist paint-scheme on his car the whole race.  A Black Lives Matter car. a car with the name of a group prominently displayed all over it, a group that advocates the killing of police officers.

I was an actual Wallace fan.  I wanted him to succeed and was disappointed that the best he could do for a job was a mediocre, underfunded team like Petty. I want minority drivers like Wallace, Daniel Suarez and the like to do well and to come into the sport in larger numbers.

But in NASCAR, how much do you want to win = how much do you want to spend.  And face it, The big, 3 and 4 car teams that consistently win all the time do so because they've got the money.

But the bloom had been peeling back from that particular rose for quite some time.  Cookie cutter cars that all look pretty much the same without the wraps on them (Those cars are typically not painted, but instead literally have a vinyl wrap on them) engines and drivetrains simply unavailable at the dealers.

Parts that have no resemblance to the cars they claim to be: Camrys, Camaros and Mustangs.

Most of the engines are built by 2 or 3 builders and have precisely zero stock parts or resemblance to the manufacturer's engines.  Pop open the hood on a NASCAR Toyota, and there's nothing there that looks anything like a Toyota Camry.

And that's but a symptom of the NASCAR disease.

A few weeks ago, Chase Elliot was in a position to win a race when he was deliberately wrecked by Kurt Busch.

That sort of thing happens all too frequently.

In fact, watch this video of "NASCAR's Greatest Pay Backs."  You'll hear Kurt Busch's name mentioned frequently as he wrecks others before Chase over his career.  The radio voices you hear are "spotters" communicating with the car... their main purpose being to tell the drivers when they're clear of the car in front of them.



A guy named Ryan Newman, who was also in a position to win his race, was also deliberately wrecked by Ryan Blaney earlier this year.



The claims in both races were that the drivers who caused these crashes, with decades of experience and spotters on top of the track to tell them when they are clear of other cars, made "mistakes."

Weird that they never seem to make these mistakes in, say, the first part of the race.

Blaney, as most fans know, almost killed Newman.  And NASCAR, with their typical incompetence, failed to tell anyone viewing if Newman was even alive for quite some time... demanding "privacy" for Newman.

Well, if he had been killed, his "privacy" would have been permanent.

Meanwhile, guess what happened to Blaney or Busch for causing what easily could have been deadly wrecks?

If you guessed "absolutely nothing," you win!

The failure to protect drivers from predatory driving had me teetering on the brink: This idiocy shoved me over.



Here's the thing: these people are all entitled to their opinion.  But they are not entitled to ram THEIR opinion down MY throat.

Their job will never be to tell me what to think, do or say.  And no, their politics isn't the thing.  If they were cheerleading for Donald Trump, I'd feel the exact... same... way.

They are DRIVERS.  Not great philosophers, statesmen, or particularly well known for their genius on events taking place on the world stage.

I don't CARE what they think.  I also do not want to HEAR what they think.

See, I watch sports for a few reasons, but none of them are political or moral.

I don't give a damn what YOUR morality or politics are: attempting to program me with it is not your job and not your specialty or field of endeavor.  And NASCAR suddenly sprouting a corporate conscience is as sickeningly pandering as the Speaker of the House kneeling in THIS get up yesterday:



That looks... and is... ridiculous.

NASCAR's efforts are no different.

So, along with the NFL, Women's Soccer, Gillette and Camping World, I can now add NASCAR. 

I've flown around the country; spent thousands and thousands of dollars attending the 8 or so races I've been to.

But no more.  No more races.  No more swag.  No more tickets.  No more TV.  No more talking heads providing cover for those causing near-fatal wrecks for which they received zero punishment of any kind, while their lower level colleagues (Infinity Races and Truck races and so forth, all under the auspices of NASCAR) are, at a minimum, suspended for doing the same thing.

No more support of an organization where if you SAY the wrong thing, you're gone... but if you almost KILL someone?  Nothing to see here... move along.

No more support of an organization that proudly displays THEIR support of a terrorist group that wants to kill police.  No more kneeling by NASCAR officials, which is about as absurd as it can get.

Do whatever the hell you want, OFF the track, before and/or after every race.

But keep your fricking politics out of my face.

Hopefully, at some point, the mental midgets running NASCAR will get the message from the empty seats once they start allowing people in... and their horrific TV ratings.

As another NFL season looms, so does the headline: 74 people shot, 11 fatally, in Chicago over the weekend. Black lives don't seem to matter to blacks.

Yup.  This is called "the weekend." Or at least it is in Chicago.

I love football.  Played it for many years.  Love my Huskies, where I was a tackling dummy as a walk on for a little while back in 77.

But I don't love it enough to turn a blind eye to the ongoing insult and belittlement of my country, my Flag or my service to this Nation.

A group of people of the leftist bent feel compelled to, effectively, piss on our country whenever the mood strikes.

Among this group are professional athletes.   They are among the finest in the world at what they do.

But what they do involves playing a game.  It involves running with a ball, throwing a ball, catching a ball, tackling the guys carrying the ball.

For that, many of these people get paid tens of millions of dollars.

And many of those same people feel compelled to engage in their childish, hypocritical behavior that does their very best to divide this country and increase racial division as much as possible.

And damned few of them are personally doing anything about the Chicagos across this country... where thousands of blacks are killed and wounded... and almost all of them by those of the same color.

Recently, LeBron James has chosen to join with the race-baiters in trashing the President.  James, for his part, may be the finest basketball player to ever live.  But how does that give him any expertise in politics or race?

What mystifies me is why what he thinks, says or does makes any difference.

He's one of the multi-millionaire spoiled rotten punks out there using (or at least attempting to use) the less-fortunate for his own purposes.  While I do admire his honesty ("I wouldn't meet with the President if he wanted to.") that childish, playground bullshit, while worshipped by the left, doesn't cut it in real life.

Dak Prescott, quarterback for Dallas, doesn't go along with the race-based hatred; has said so and has been subsequently trashed by the leftists possessed of their plantation mentality.

"I never protest during the anthem, and I don't think that's the time or the venue to do so," Prescott said last month. "The game of football has always brought me such a peace, and I think it does the same for a lot of people, a lot of people playing the game, a lot of people watching the game, a lot of people that have any impact of the game. So when you bring such a controversy to the stadium, to the field, to the game, it takes away. It takes away from that. It takes away from the joy and the love that football brings to a lot of people. 

"So for me, I'm all about making a change, making a difference, and I think this whole kneeling and all that was all about just raising awareness. The fact that we're still talking about social injustice years later, I think we've got to that point. I think we've proved and we know that there's social injustice. So I'm for taking a next step that whatever that step may be for action, and not just kneeling. I've always believed in standing up for what I believe in, and that's what I'm going to continue to do." 

Prescott said he respects the players who have protested during the anthem, but he believes there is a better way to bring about a solution.

And he's getting hammered for it.

If the rest of the NFL shared his view, there'd be no boycott.

But they don't.

What if some white NBA player (The few there are... because, well, I guess affirmative action only counts for SOME) indicated they would never consider meeting with that hapless clown we got rid of in 2016?

There'd be riots in the street.  The NBA would crush him with fines if they didn't suspend him indefinitely.

James can play basketball.  Because he's a celebrity and good at a game, he's worshipped.  Because he's trashing the president, his words are echoed and reechoed around the land by a leftist lapdog media only to eager to hammer the administration as often as possible.

But how does his celebrity make him an expert?

Does this guy, worth hundreds of millions of dollars, experience oppression?  How about his kids or anyone else in his family?

I'll be continuing to avoid the NFL and their surrogates as well as their products and those who sponsor them.  As I will the NBA and any other outfit that believes they know better than the American people.

Dak Prescott is no expert, either. But his view isn't blinded by the hatred and victim inculcation that LeBron James uses to become the most recent flavor of the week media darling.

As a veteran, I'm all about the Constitution and the freedoms within.  Leftists?

Not so much.

I'm also all about protesting.  But this has never been about the 1st Amendment (which doesn't apply here) and these people have every right to engage in that protest whenever they want... as long as it's on THEIR time and not mine.

James, for example, has a right to shoot off his mouth even when, as in this case, it makes him sound like  hypocritical clown.

Professional sports can be a weird world sometimes.

Readers are well aware of my self-imposed boycott against the NFL for their bigotry and discrimination in Le affaire Limbaugh, wherein I refuse to have anything to do with them again, in person or on TV.

Well, yesterday, on the last out of a perfect game, the first base umpire blew the call. The result?

Armando Gallarraga pitched a perfect game for the Detroit Tigers against Cleveland. In his instance, rather poetically, I thought, Gallarraga got the last out himself by taking the throw at first base a step before the hitter got there.

Replays show, in fact, that it wasn't even close.

Reports now indicate that Bud Selig, Commissioner of Baseball, will not overturn this obvious rip off:

NEW YORK - Commissioner Bud Selig will not reverse call that cost Armando Galarraga a perfect game, Major League Baseball announced Thursday.

It doesn't really say why not, although it also makes it clear that Detroit will not ask them to overturn it, for reasons that simply boggle the imagination, in that they provide no explanation for THAT decision, a decision where this young man's bid for baseball immortality is swept under the rug like yesterday's newspaper. Or something.

Detroit shouldn't HAVE to ask. Baseball should just do the right thing and overturn the umpire while they give Gallarrago the recognition he deserves in this, the strangest pitching season for perfect games ever... with 3 pitched in the last month while only 20 have been pitched since the late 1800's.

Do the right thing, commissioner. Man up, accept the umpires acknowledgement that he blew it, and do the right thing.

Otherwise, MLB should change their name to Bush League.
