Seattle's Curse: Katie Wilson. You wanted stupidly incompetent in your mayor. You got it.

I'm reasonably sure that not ALL mayors named Wilson are as cluelessly inept as the two local versions infesting the PNW now, Katie and Keith Wilson, although THEIR clueless stupidity will remain the stuff of legends for decades to come.

Besides having a last name in common (I have, to date, not heard of any kind of familial connection) they have the same fringe-left insanity of each other in common as they seem to be in competition to find out how quickly they can both run their respective cities into a meat-grinder garbage pile.

While Portland's mayor, Keith Wilson, fiddles while downtown Portland "burns," there's  no half measures with his counterpart in Seattle.

Katie Wilson, who had zero electoral, political or business experience of any kind (think "community organizer") (including continuing to be on an allowance from her parents while living in their basement during her campaign) has taken her own personal wrecking ball to the city of my birth, the city I once loved but would now refuse to even drive through unarmed.

Seattle is among the leaders in every one of the worst categories a city can find itself. Baltimore, for example, perhaps one of the worst cities on the North American continent, now finds itself in competition from the Seattle Shithole which once was, literally, one of the best cities in the United States.

While many of the fringe-left ilk seem to have a problem with the concept of a nonexistent King, they have and take zero issue with a fringe-left, uncaring, non-responsive moron as a queen.

Most examples are already well-known as Seattle joins New York, LA, and Portland as the worst-ran cities in the industrialized world due to the untethered stupidity and incompetence of their leadership.

A few weeks ago, even KOMO-TV (PLEASE review Eric Johnson of KOMO TV's local politics masterpiece, "Seattle Is Dying", and understand that as bad as THAT portrayal was, it's geometrically worse now under the tender ministrations of Katie the Klueless nimrod.) had enough.

They point out some of the latest fringe-left buffoonery of Katie Klueless; a mayor so inept, so politically castrated by her Marxist dogma that she makes Karen Bass, among the prototypes of political stupidity, communism (What other mayor in this country has undergone terrorist training in a communist country?) ineptitude and idiocy look like a modern day de Tocqueville in comparison.

You'd think those of the militant communist ilk would eagerly confront the media and anyone else questioning their policies and speeches to strengthen their message.

NOT our resident communist coward.

When confronted/asked about her successful efforts to turn Seattle in to the national laughing stock, her worker bees cut off access on the spot if the organs of the media do not stay on whatever subject they've programmed that fringe-left automaton to have at least some knowledge of responding to.

That level of cowardice and stall control by her "yes" people is admirable, in a way. but it does nothing to explain anything while simultaneously putting her playground antics on display. In many respects, it's like watching a Joe Biden replay.

KOMO News clobbering Katie Coward

The fringe-left nutjobs who despise this country to the nth degree, are wildly supporting incompetent morons around the country who mouth their communist and neocommunist ideology. They don't care that the Leninist-style promise made by the jihadi ilk of  Jihadi Zoe Mamdani were lies, for example.

Like all political sheep, actually fulfilling your campaign promises isn't required, since you can, as they almost all do, blame Trump for their own failures.

And let's face it: "blaming Trump" has become the fringe-left's biggest past time. They see it as their key to avoiding responsibility for their own failures.

Getting back to the "Basement Dweller", when you elect an incompetent junior Stalinist moron as mayor, what can you reasonably expect from a parental-basement-dweller neo communist?

That cretin is in so far over her head, they have to pipe both daylight AND kale to her.

Seattle (where I'm from, BTW.... great place.... to be FROM) you wanted stupid in your mayor... not that the last mayor was all THAT great... and you got it. In spades.

The shithole you've dug for yourselves is now cratering as you find the Emerald City leading in several of the WRONG categories.

Is there ANY problem present when this barista-level cretin took over that isn't worse to MUCH worse since her ascension?

And when a fool surrounds herself with political hacks that know as much about representative governance as my spaniel, outcomes such as these are what SHOULD be expected.

And in that, Wilson has delivered in spades.

Obviously, de Maistre was correct when he indicated, paraphrasing here, "Every city gets the government they deserve."

Proving once again that ACA guru Jonathan Gruber was correct when he referred to the "stupidity of the American voter," proven every waking moment when they elected utterly incompetent, fringe-left delusionists like Mayor Katie B. Wilson

The President continues to disappoint.

.
The "tinnest" ear in politics begins to resemble nothing so much as a can of Campbell's Soup.

Yesterday should have been an act of political contrition. Instead, it was an act of delusional arrogance.

Bogus budget "freezes," nonsensical heath care babble, continuing lies about the bogus "jobs created or saved" garbage... a complete lack of vision and down-the-rabbit-hole psychobabble.

He idiotically stood up there and told us, effectively, that the focus "in 2010" must be jobs.

A blind man could see in a minute that every waking moment not spent on defense SHOULD have been spent on REAL economic development, and not an unfathomable expansion of government and government jobs and government payroll.

It takes a clueless moron to FINALLY get around to "jobs" a year too late.

The continuing stupidity of trying terrorists in criminal court, the fantasy foreign policy (How's that "outstretched open hand" crap working for you?) ending DADT in the middle of a war....

The crippling political loses democrats have suffered and the blame Bush syndrome infesting democrat political leadership... all essentially without acknowledgment or impact.

Failing to include Republicans... closed door meetings... campaign promises over C-Span cameras that were campaign lies. Ham-handed unforced errors... basic incompetence and a lack of responsiveness frightening in dimension.

I have no confidence that the president can either recognize our problems not adequately respond to them. And I am always guided by the over-arching concept that as government expands, our liberties contract.

Someone, far wiser than I, once observed that government governs best when it governs least. And that's not what we're confronted with here... here, when we need it most.

I can't wait to be arrested because I refuse to buy socialist health care.

.
In a scam that will effectively end democrat party participation in government starting in 2010, the next step in the temporary socialization of the United States will take place shortly in the US Senate.

I say "temporary" because all of this will go away in January 2011, when the new GOP majorities in Congress disassemble it... piece by piece and brick by brick.

In a tin-eared performance guaranteed to drive congressional disgruntlement levels to new lows, Harry "The Stiff" Reid and Nancy "The Belle of Botox" Pelosi will jam this garbage heap down our throats in ways that will assist every GOP'er running for anything anywhere to get elected.

For my part, I will not comply with any of it. I will not pay; I will not buy, I will not allow one dime of my money to be dumped into this massive redistribution plan that scumbag in the White House is forcing us to accept in the face of massive and overwhelming public opposition when there are so many other options available.

Here I am. Come and get me.

Russell is still in: clearly he doesn't get it.

.
but then, he's obviously a glutton for punishment.

It's clear to even a blind man that Russell has precisely zero chance of winning. The moment Baird announced he was running for re-election because he knew he would get clobbered if he did, Russell became toast in a way that must still have him reeling.

That said, I almost lost my breakfast when I read this nonsense in the Chronicle up north, who, for whatever the reason, apparently felt compelled to do a sickeningly cloying puff piece on Jon Russell.

Russell an Old Timer in an Increasingly Crowded Field

The bizarro money quote?
So why vote for Jon Russell? He said he has something none of the other two Republicans who entered the race before Baird dropped out have — a voting record.

Although his experience is at the municipal level, Russell is touting his record on proposing local tax cuts and a pay cut he and other councilors recently accepted in light of the recession.

“People know what they’re going to get from me in regards to my voting record,” Russell said.
Really, Jon?

Do they know that all your grandstanding votes on tax cuts and pay cuts are mere props for your congressional campaign?

Do they know YOU ran the Port of Vancouver's campaign effort to ram the largest tax increase in our area's history so YOU could make a few bucks?

Do they know you failed in your job as a city councilman with oversight over Washougal's credit cards and how fast you tossed Stacy Sellers under the bus to save your own ass?

And if they don't, since people are "going to know what they're getting," then how come they don't know THAT?

Yes, I indicated early on that Russell was going to jump ship. Yes, he's stayed in so far. But then, after all of this, it seems I've given him far too much credit in the brain dome department.

Last night, I expressd my disappointment in the ACORN-in-Chief's performance.

.
Last night's performance by the president
, like all of his performances in every area since he took office, was abysmal.

There is no confidence within the military generally, and West Point particularly, in this empty suited clown's leadership or vision. They knew, like *I* knew, that the request for more troops SHOULD have been granted immediately. There was and is plenty of time to determine the missions needed, but now we have a 3 month delay of the inevitable, and more of us are going to die unnecessarily because of the clown calling the shots.

To illustrate the point, the fine folks over at Victoria Taft's blog have put together a few vids off of YouTube. These kind of focus on the cadet's reaction to one president... and their distinct NON-reaction to a clown who can't even PLAY president on TV.

Folks, there's a reason those kids were sitting there, looking like they were waiting to see a dentist who'd run out of anesthetic.

And by the way, BHo? Making those kids sit there for 4 hours to wait for YOUR dumb ass?

Bad idea.

Head on over and check it out.

Obama is a clueless idiot.

.
I just forced myself to watch the empty suited, Anti-American racist bigot's speech at West Point (what had the cadets done to be punished that way?) where he sounded and acted like a frightened, bumbling idiot selling out our military.

I was forced to blow chunks, but I'm not sure if that was result of the flu or his speech or a combination of both.

This idiot gets up there and tells the bad guys how long they need to be in hull-defilade until we leave and things can go back to what they were before we went over there in the first place.

He was a quivering mass of jello who has no more business being president then I do a brain surgeon.

Sickening.

So, what do you suppose finally caused that empty-suited moron in the White House to honor our dead?

.
I can't really formulate the outrage and disgust I have towards the scumbag we, to our ever-lasting agony, elected as President of the United States.

This slimeball didn't care about the troops before he was elected; shown he didn't give a damn about them when he BECAME president, starting with the day he was inaugurated when he blew off the Medal of Honor Ball; and later, becoming the first president in over 50 years to insult them that way; through his moronic effort to get veterans to pay for their own post-combat, post-enlistment war wounds by requiring the wounded to both get, and be covered by and cared for by private insurers; and now, where this scumbag is using coffins for a political backdrop to FINALLY get around to showing how much he "cares."

Not enough to miss his golf games or Wednesday White House parties every week, you understand; or to send the needed troops to Afghanistan... but enough to do his widely-publicized non-press opportunity yesterday morning in Dover.

I have a son who is, unfortunately, doing everything he can to enlist into the Marine Corps. I don't want him anywhere NEAR the military as long as the ACORN in Chief is running the show, because anyone who could use coffins for campaign props makes me sick.

If MY son gets killed over there, Mr. President, I don't want to hear from you; I don't want to see you; I don't want a letter or phone call from you. I will not want anything at all to do with you since his blood would be on your incompetent, clueless hands.

Mr. President, you've had ample opportunity to prove both your worth as our Commander and, in fact, that you actually give a damn.

And you've blown it.

If my kid gets hurt or killed fighting for YOU... stay away from him. And stay away from us, you despicable cretin.

A blog I follow states it much better than I ever could:

My own words cannot express

My words cannot express here how I feel about the administration's use of bodies returning to Dover as a photo op. Blackfive asks some poignant questions that I doubt will be answered by this administration. (Until the book deals.)

I won't republish these photos, because I am not a journalist. I have a personal code of honor that will not tolerate even one single visit by someone searching for pictures of wounded or the bodies of our dead.

I cannot express here the rage that I feel when I look at these pictures. It's too coincidental--an administration that is taking weeks to consider urgent requests, losing points daily in public opinion, foreign policy and approval polls, now arrives at Dover AFB to pay respects to the return of our heroes. In an administration whose Chief of Staff once said: "You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it's an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before." I wonder what opportunity they are seeking here?

I don't recall the administration making any effort to visit Dover before, so why now? Why haven't the heroes returned been important enough until now? The time of the President is incredibly valuable. He is an incredibly busy person. His day is managed by the minute. Its because of the value of his time that I wonder whether the actions of the administration were altruistic or if there is an ulterior motive.

I always felt the policy of allowing photographers at Dover was ill-advised, because it would eventually lead to one side or the other using the photos for political statements. I just never thought it would be the President to do it first.

I recall my visit with President Bush when I was in the hospital. No reporters, no journalists, no cameras. Just me, the Mrs, Mom, the CiC, and the White house photographer. The pictures he took were sent to me later--signed. I asked why no reporter--his reply: "Because this visit isn't about me, or anyone else but you. I want to thank you for your sacrifice, and that's all." Sure, it'd be a great photo op (see Carren's piece about John McCain.) President Bush realized that there was more honor in a private ceremony than there ever could be in a public one.

Much, much more.

The "No on I-1033" folks stopped by my blog and THANKED me for my analysis!

.
People here pretty much know that I'm rabidly supporting I-1033, the "Give control of our money back to us" initiative.

Oddly enough, one of the many groups vacuuming up our tax dollars swung by and left this little gem:

Now, look... I've got a sense of humor as much as the other guy... but this?

I post it, along with the addresses in it, because I figure that by now, if you're gonna buy the lies of the left on this, there's nothing I can do about it anyway.

But man... to "thank" me for MY "analysis?"

What do you suppose are chances they didn't read it?

Imagine my surprise when I found out that one of the most clueless politicians ever was running for the US Senate!

.
Yes.... Our own Craig Williams apparently didn't get either of the two memos from the last election: Politically, he doesn't know what he's talking about.... and politically, he doesn't know what he's talking about.

The first memo was a result of the actual vote during the primary. Williams did an abysmal job with his leftwing agenda, and managed just under 5% in the primary.

Stunning.

Having had his ass handed to him in a basket by the electorate, he then proceeds to assure the Columbian that, well, Clark County Commissioner Tom Mielke, wouldn't be.

Further, this clown wants an unneeded, unwanted and hugely wasteful I-5 Bridge replacement complete with loot rail... and he wants all that without a vote.

So, why should we vote for a political moron to represent us in the senate? Don't we already have that, both in the senate and the White House?

Craig SHOULD have taken the clue. Now he's going to go out and get humiliated at the polls AGAIN, and running as a fake Republican ain't gonna help.

The Barack Tea Party

Posted on September 23, 2009, 9:00 am, under Humor, Politics.

It’s an amusing thought but one without a real-life image, as you can be sure the carefully manipulated Drive-Bys would never be permitted the opportunity to snap what would be one of the most forwarded jpegs on teh Internets.

We are therefore left with the cartoon stylings of Ramirez, who seems to ask: what would happen if the Man-Child threw a tea party for madmen dictators and none of them showed up?

What He Says vs. What He Does

.

by Larry Huss Wednesday, September 23. 2009

There is a peculiar custom that permeates the societies in the Middle East – a lack of commitment to telling the truth. It is cultural – they will tell you what they think you want to hear. It is difficult to understand whether this arises out of an attempt to not embarrass you by disagreeing, or, because you are not a member of their culture – you are an infidel – lying to you is of no consequence.

It is rapidly becoming a staple of America’s political culture with a myriad of politicians denying sordid personal affairs and parsing words to justify departure from previous commitments. Its chief practitioner now appears to be President Barack Obama and, with his most recent departure from the truth, the price will be the lives of literally hundreds of our young men and women in the armed forces.

During the campaign President Obama argued that we were fighting the wrong war – the one in Iraq. He said our focus should be on Afghanistan and defeating al-Qaida and he committed to defeating al-Qaida and the Taliban. He even went so far as to urge that we invade Pakistan to destroy the “safe-havens” of these insurgents in mountainous border regions between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

After his election President Obama used his intent to refocus our military strategy in Afghanistan as a partial justification for setting an artificial timeline for withdrawing from Iraq and for beginning a draw down of both our forces and our commitment to engage the insurgents.

But his “commitment” to Afghanistan and defeating al-Qaida and the Taliban were just words because that’s what he thought we wanted to hear. He knew that he could not get elected by supporting a complete withdrawal because he like former-President Jimmy Carter and former Democrat presidential candidate Michael Dukakis would appear to be weak on defense.

So he talked tough about Afghanistan – just like he’s talked tough about the pursuit of nuclear weapons by rogue regimes in North Korea and Iran. But in the end, he has done nothing – nothing overtly and even less covertly.

And now General McChrystal – President Obama’s handpicked leader for the Afghanistan conflict – has pointedly said that without more troops and weapons al-Qaida and the Taliban will win the war. This isn’t some policy wonk in a university affiliated think tank talking; this is the guy on the ground giving the commander-in-chief a realistic assessment of battlefield conditions.
And what is President Obama’s response? He went on David Letterman’s late night show to announce that, because of the increasing number of casualties in Afghanistan, he was not going to send additional troops immediately. Instead, he wanted to make sure “we had the policy right.” Given the political leanings of the former comedian, it is doubtful that the question was spontaneous or the answer unrehearsed.

But, it is a frightening reminiscence of President Lyndon Johnson and the Vietnam War. Johnson would routinely overrule his generals and plan and conduct military strategy from the White House. It was a disaster. Tens of thousands of America’s young men gave their lives in a fight that Johnson had no intention of winning but did not want to accept blame for losing. He agreed to a variety of limitations on the conduct of the war that gave the enemy undisturbed sanctuaries and allowed a hostile Congress to second guess every military request.

Now, today, we have President Obama whose total life experience prior to being elected president was that of a community organizer and a petty politician in America’s most politically corrupt city – Chicago. He has even less experience than President Johnson. He asked his own appointee for expert military advice and as quickly as he has received it, he has discounted it – speculating instead that maybe we should increase the number of drones.

He has agreed to limitations that endanger our troops and inhibit our ability to collect real time battlefield intelligence – chief among them is the agreement to turn over all insurgents to the Afghan government within 36 hours of capture. In most instances, given the remote areas in which the fight is engaged, it takes 36 hours to merely transport, let alone interrogate, such prisoners. And the Afghan government – as corrupt as any – treats these prisoners with a revolving door by releasing them almost immediately after taking them into custody – that is except for the few for whom there are tribal scores to settle and for whom torture and death await.

Let’s face it. President Obama is a product of the far left wing of the Democrat Party. He was born and raised in a political radicalism that views America as an “imperialist power” imposing its political will on others. As a result, he will never confront, with force, an oppressive foreign power or ideology. He will talk tough and do nothing.

Prior to President Obama’s inauguration, Vice-President Joe Biden predicted that the world would test the young and inexperienced president. Unfortunately, Biden believed that such a test would be in the form of an international crisis. But that isn’t how the world works. When confronted with an unknown quantity, the world probes. It doesn’t confront – at least initially.

And the world has been probing President Obama – North Korea’s continued escalation of its nuclear weapons capability, Iran’s continued pursuit of nuclear weapons, Russia’s bold invasion of Georgia, the resurgence of al-Qaida and the Taliban in Afghanistan, the abandonment of the European missile shield despite his promises to implement it, and so on and so on. In every instance, the world has found Obama weak and indecisive.

It’s happened before. The Soviet Union routinely tested a new president – John F. Kennedy – and found him weak and indecisive. So much so that they dared to locate nuclear missiles in Cuba and set the stage for an international confrontation that could have been avoided in the first instance.

But President Kennedy was dealing with rational men – ruthless but still rational – and they understood the impact of a nuclear war. Today we are confronted by irrational leaders – Kim Il Jung in North Korea and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Iran – and when the inevitable international confrontation occurs we can be less certain that the assurance of nuclear destruction will deter their ambitions – especially if they conclude that President Obama lacks the will to pull the trigger.

So where does that leave us in Afghanistan? It leaves us with a President who apparently is willing to fiddle indefinitely while he “gets the policy right” and who, in the meantime, is also willing to sacrifice the lives of more young men and women while imposing limitations on their ability to conduct the war, denying the reinforcement they need and allowing Nancy Pelosi and her cronies the ability to de-fund the combat effort.

For my part, bring the troops home – today. It is not worth sacrificing another American’s life on a war the President Obama has no intention of winning but for which he does not want to accept blame for losing.

With President Obama, you have to ignore what he says and focus on what he does. Just ask Pope Benedict who listened to President Obama say that he would do everything possible to reduce the number of abortions while signing an executive order permitting the use of federal funds to promote abortion internationally and arguing before the United Nations for expanded access to abortions on demand. Just ask Rep. Joe Wilson who listened to President Obama tell Congress that his universal healthcare bill would not apply to illegal aliens and watched Obama and his fellow Democrats reject amends which would do just that, preferring instead to leave in place a provision that prohibits inquiring into citizenship as a condition of receiving healthcare insurance.

It’s not so much that he lies, it’s that he tells you what he thinks you want to hear without any intention of doing what he says.

On this, the 70th anniversary of the Nazi invasion of Poland, What do Neville Chamberlain and Barack Obama have in common?

.
They both sold out tens of millions of people in Eastern Europe.

Like many leftists, Obama is a coward who disdains the military. Unfortunately, he also disdains freedom for others when it's difficult to maintain, and once again, he has sold out a people who made the mistake of believing in the United States of America; an all too frequently fatal foreign policy for those stupid enough to make that mistake (See Vietnam under Nixon and Ford; Kurdistan under Bush 1, and now Eastern Europe under the sell-out in the White House.)

For those unaware of who Neville Chamberlain might be (and, I fear, that is the majority of those reading this) he was an easily manipulated, apparently quite gullible but affable idiot who, as Prime Minister of England, cheerfully sold out millions of people in Czechoslovakia (Now the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic) to Hitler so we could have "Peace in our time."

Chamberlain became synonymous with "appeasement." In fact, Chamberlain even called his knee-pad efforts with the Reich "The General Policy of Appeasement." The end result?

60,000,000 dead.

Neville Chamberlain holding the paper containing the resolution to commit to peaceful methods signed by both Hitler and himself on his return from Munich. He is showing the Anglo-German Declaration to a crowd at Heston Aerodrome on 30 September 1938. He said:

"...the settlement of the Czechoslovakian problem, which has now been achieved is, in my view, only the prelude to a larger settlement in which all Europe may find peace. This morning I had another talk with the German Chancellor, Herr Hitler, and here is the paper which bears his name upon it as well as mine (waves paper to the crowd - receiving loud cheers and "Hear Hears"). Some of you, perhaps, have already heard what it contains but I would just like to read it to you ...".

Later that day he stood outside Number 10 Downing Street and again read from the document and concluded:

'"My good friends, for the second time in our history, a British Prime Minister has returned from Germany bringing peace with honour. I believe it is peace for our time."

So, uh, Prime Minster... how'd that work out for you?

That, of course, brings us to the empty suited, anti-American racist bigot who is our president.

Utterly clueless on domestic policy in ways that made arguably the worst president in the 20th century, democrat Jimmy Carter look intelligent and visionary in comparison; his now-again confirmed incompetent foreign policy where he apparently views the increasingly imperialist Russia as just a big ol friendly bear WILL cost US blood.... much like it HAS cost us blood as the Russians play the Iranians off of us and we respond like a tarantula to a tarantula wasp.

Unfortunately, our affirmative action president apparently never heard of Hitler, Chamberlain or World War Two. Before he sets up the Russians to rule Europe again, perhaps he ought to review a few videos.... maybe read a few books... because feeding Soviet hegemony (I mean, Russian hegemony) will have the same effect.

It was bad enough that we sat on our thumbs and allowed the Russian experiment where they tested our resolve by quietly allowing them to invade an ally not so long ago; cowering in the face of the threat is rarely a suitable or appropriate strategy. Regardless of any other response from the Soviets, what they're THINKING is that they can game the punk in the White House and get anything they want, whenever they want it, because Obama apparently fails to understand that testicles have other uses besides providing sperm for children.

It is unthinkable to those with a strategic view that the United States would allow anyone to dictate our relations to any other country. The result? We have GIVEN the Russians the very thing they wanted. This PARTICULAR capitulation by this complete moron is apparently being done in the HOPE that Russia will FINALLY do something about Iranian nukes.

Of course, what that simple minded short-busser forgot is that the Soviets (I mean, Russians) are just as concerned about Iranian nukes as we are. Russia, of course, is a nation of infidels just like we are, and Muslim hatred for Russia because of, among other things, Chetsnia and Afghanistan is palpable.

So, what's happened here is that the Russians were playing chicken.... and WE blinked. So, we've apparently done this in the HOPE that by caving on this deal, the Russians MIGHT finally get around to doing what they would have to do in their OWN national interests anyway.

Brilliant.

And while Chamberlain and Obama have their policy of appeasement in common; a policy that WILL result in death and destruction has it has so many, many times before; the fact is that Obama, moronically enough, won't even have a piece of paper to wave around like that idiot Chamberlain.

What did the United States GET for this moronic cave-in?

Nothing.

Man.... doesn't that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside? Obama has sold out millions, the Russians (again) get what they want, and we, as well as the people of Eastern Europe have absolutely not one damned thing to show for it.

Clearly, this simple idiot knows as much about foreign policy as he does about health care policy. And both seem to be working equally well.

Brian Baird: Coward (IV) Democrat Rep. Adam Smith - even if the protests are organized, 'what’s wrong with that?'"

.
At least TWO democrats gets it: Larsen (D-WA2) and Smith (D-WA9)

Smith and Larsen are both going forward with their town halls during the recess.

“It comes with the job,” Smith said. “They aren’t protesters. They are constituents speaking their minds.”

Smith said even if the protests are organized, “what’s wrong with that?”

Larsen said people have a right to show up and speak their minds. Supporters of a government-run health care system, also known as single-payer, have also been vocal at his town hall meetings.

So... how come these two democrats have the guts to face THEIR constituents, while the little worm representing us does not?

Does Brian Baird have a political death wish? Is this political self-immolation the act of someone planning on running for re-election?

It sure doesn't seem like it.

Another day, another clueless Columbian editorial.

.
Today's nonsense from the tax-dodgers themselves involves their opportunity to do some more PR work for Gov. Gregoire and the dems running our state's legislature.

As anyone watching for more than ten minutes knows, Oregon is a slow-motion fiscal train wreck. Think of, say, a westernized version of Pakistan and you can get the drift.

While we have a high, business crippling sales and B&O tax, Oregon makes do with a high income tax. Lacking a sales tax kind of acts as a statewide commercial campaign to draw consumers from the surrounding states of Washington, Idaho and Kali-fornia into their state.

Now the primary motivation for our legislature was fear. The 1994 cycle is all too close a nightmare for our state's leftists, and while 2010 is shaping up as a greater or lesser version of the same, that's primarily a consequence of the stupidity, lack of depth, cluelessness and vision at the top of the ticket.

The local rag, of course, benefited from some of your basic quid-pro-quo. They stole money from the other small businesses of this state by arranging for their leftist masters to give them a massive B&O business tax CUT, a CUT that the rest of us didn't get in the midst of this $10 billion deficit... and a cut that, you guessed it, WE will have to make up.

Is it any wonder they lie and exaggerate in their support for the biggest waste of money the northwestern United States has ever seen, given that THEY won't have to pay for it?

Now, this sets the table for today's moronic idiocy. When it comes to matters of development, the morons pumping out editorials view this area as their own, personal, post card. This paper views the Gorge as their own personal fiefdom, advocating restrictions on the residents living there that they, themselves, would never CONSIDER living under.

And how many times has Koenninger regaled us with one of his "the way things were" columns while attacking anyone opposing his Utopian view and his efforts to force others to live under a standard that he, himself, does NOT have to live under.

That, of course, brings us to today's drivel.
Regardless, it seems likely many entrepreneurs and wealthy people will vote with their feet and take a look at moving to Clark County. The county has long been a desirable place for wealthy Oregon retirees, who can enjoy Clark County and the Portland area without paying personal income taxes on pensions...
...So, for their actions on behalf of Clark County, we thank the Oregon Legislature and say, "Welcome, newcomers."
When I left the Army and moved here in 88 or so, Clark County had a population of just over 200,000.

Today, it has a population far in excess of 400,000.

Since that time, our commissioners have done a great deal under the auspices of the growth management plan. But whatever they've done, this paper has been whining, moaning and complaining about the growth management boundary; how often it's been changed (Massive, explosive growth notwithstanding) and the Californication of the region.

Now today's idiocy appears to be throwing out the welcome mat for Oregonian Refugees to move here to a county already burdened by major shortcomings in all manner of infrastructure.

Of course, the preferred member of the O.R. class is that limited to the "wealthy" class... but the problem with that is ALL taxpayers are oppressed by massive tax and fee increases... and the implementation of thousands of dollars in tolls without a vote.

The result? The human tidal wave the idiot who wrote this editorial is referring to will not be limited to those with fat retirements and checkbooks. And if this rag's vision comes to fruition, well, guess what? The commissioners will have to revisit the growth management plan AGAIN, because all of these wonderful people will require somewhere to live, and the kids will require somewhere to go to school, and somewhere to buy groceries, and somewhere to buy furniture and so on and so on.

I would be the first to admit that like the city boundaries of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Vancouver, I wouldn't be caught dead living in Oregon.

That, however, does not explain this bizarre position where, on one hand, the morons running the paper want the "wealthy" to move here because of our oh, so, superior tax structure (soon to be obliterated by the fringe leftists this rag supports as they do everything they can to allow us to become a train wreck just like Oregon when they impose OUR version of an income tax) while, on the other, they bitch like cut cats over growth and it's consequences.

Yeah... you can REALLY trust this waste of wood pulp's vision for our future.

Idiots.

More warm and fuzzy incompetence from the Obama Administration.

.
As the current occupant of the White House elbows Jimmy Carter aside as the worst president in the last century (or more) I'm comforted by the fact that he's hired a criminal to run our treasury, scores of lobbyists in direct violation of one of the many promises he's broken as part of the bait and switch that was the Obama Campaign... and then.... THIS waste of skin.

Truth being stranger than fiction, we actually DO have an Inspector General of the Treasury... although this particular version seems to be the most ignorant twit in government, and is much more focused on her nails than her job.

In this YouTube video, she's questioned by a DEMOCRAT congressman.... First-term (anti-bailout candidate) Democrat Alan Grayson (D-FL 8) and, well... watch it and weep.

I know I did.

H/T to Tom.

The scum of the left practicing the politics of destruction.

.
The empty suit living in the White House is attempting to pawn off a racist bigot with limited legal skills as our next United States Supreme Court Justice.

At the end of the day, I wouldn't let either the clueless idiot running the show OR his token hispanic run an elevator for me... but that is for another post. This post is to point out yet another in the series of leftist political character assassinations against someone they disagree with (Joe the Plumber immediately comes to mind) here, one of the lead plaintiffs that Sotomayer practiced her peculiar brand of bigotry against.

Her bigotry precludes her from holding any position of authority anywhere, let along a supreme court justice position; and in this case, this firefighter, a victim of institutional fear and racism who's case was tossed like last week's newspaper by this "latina women are wiser than white men" bigot will be testifying at Sotomayer's "go-thru-the-motions" confirmation.

The article speaks for itself, as does this, yet another in the long list of scummy efforts by the left to silence opposition speak for itself.

2010 can't get here soon enough for me.

WASHINGTON — Supporters of Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor are quietly targeting the Connecticut firefighter who's at the center of Sotomayor's most controversial ruling.
On the eve of Sotomayor's Senate confirmation hearing, her advocates have been urging journalists to scrutinize what one called the "troubled and litigious work history" of firefighter Frank Ricci.

This is opposition research: a constant shadow on Capitol Hill.

"The whole business of getting Supreme Court nominees through the process has become bloodsport," said Gary Rose, a government and politics professor at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn.

On Friday, citing in an e-mail "Frank Ricci's troubled and litigious work history," the liberal advocacy group People for the American Way drew reporters' attention to Ricci's past. Other advocates for Sotomayor have discreetly urged journalists to pursue similar story lines.

Specifically, the advocates have zeroed in on an earlier 1995 lawsuit Ricci filed claiming the city of New Haven discriminated against him because he's dyslexic. The advocates cite other Hartford Courant stories from the same era recounting how Ricci was fired by a fire department in Middletown, Conn., allegedly, Ricci said at the time, because of safety concerns he raised.
The Middletown-area fire department was subsequently fined for safety violations, but the Connecticut Department of Labor dismissed Ricci's retaliation complaint.

No People for the American Way officials could be reached Friday to speak on the record about the press campaign.

"To go after so sympathetic a plaintiff as Frank Ricci . . . is a new low in the politics of personal destruction," said Roger Pilon, the director of the libertarian Cato Institute's Center for Constitutional Studies. "If they were smart, they'd keep a low profile."

Ricci, though, has his own advocates, including conservative commentators such as CNN's Lou Dobbs and Fox's Sean Hannity.

Nor is he the only Supreme Court confirmation witness to receive sharp elbows. In 1991, for instance, then-Senate Minority Leader Alan Simpson of Wyoming warned that witness Anita Hill would be "injured and destroyed and belittled and hounded and harassed" if she testified against nominee Clarence Thomas. Hill was preparing to testify that she'd been sexually harassed by Thomas.

Sen. Don Benton comes out swinging against the replacement bridge/loot rail swindle.

.
I've had a few hundred thousand or so words to say against the bizarre and monstrously wasteful idea of replacing the I-5 Bridge without building a third... and then a fourth, bridge first.

But that idea has no particular cache' with the Downtown Mafia. Our slimier politicians, entirely in the pockets of the special interests pulling their strings, including Pollard, Leavitt, Stuart, Pridemore, Wallace and the like; don't give a damn WHAT WE want: I mean, the very idea that the people who have to pay for this; the people who will have to put up with the results of a loot rail connection with the city that loves their mayor, one Sam Adams; and by any means the poor bastards that will get stiffed with the $1200 a year tax these morons will not have to pay to go to work shouldn't have any say as what it is these more enlightened people want to ram down our throats.

And out of all the people representing us, I have to rely on a senator from the adjoining district to actually step up and speak out against this colossal and massive waste of time, energy and effort... not to mention $4 trillion.

My legislators are heavily involved in the church mouse act. So, Sen. Benton has stepped up to provide a voice for all of those ignored so far by an arrogant, out of control government that views their personal wants to somehow exceed the importance of the opinion of those they would govern.

BENTON BULLETIN: STATE SENATOR DON BENTON 02/02/09

Columbia River Crossing

My position on solving the I-5 bottleneck from Vancouver to Portland continues to be distorted in the news media. I am not against a solution; I am against the current proposal that will not solve the problem. So far, Washington has spent $60 million dollars – wasted $60 million – on a plan to build a new bridge that will not increase capacity and will not help commuters. Replacing the bridge will not solve congestion, nor will it significantly improve freight mobility. With the forecast of six-mile backups lasting 14 hours per day made by David Evans and Associates done for the CRC in 2005, I think the idea of just replacing the bridge is unbelievable.

Nearly one-third of these commuters live in Clark County – and Vancouver continues to grow, having more than doubled its population since 1995. Even with the planned correction of the bottleneck at Delta Park, there are no additional thru-lanes planned, which would mean that cars and trucks will still crawl over the river, waste fuel and spew carbon monoxide, and drivers will be charged a toll to do it.

I have been a champion of transportation projects for all of Clark County, not just my legislative district, throughout my 14 years in the Legislature. I have gone to bat for important transportation projects that bring great benefit to the entire county and region and will continue to do so. I simply cannot condone or support wasting precious resources on proposals that will not increase capacity or reduce congestion. I call on other community and government leaders to join me in my opposition to this horrendous waste of public resources and join forces to promote a real congestion relief plan that will include a new corridor and a third bridge across the Columbia River. The underlying cause of congestion on Interstate 5 is a corridor issue, not a bridge issue. A replacement bridge will not solve that long-term problem. We need a real solution, not just a place to put light rail which even proponents admit will not move more than 2 percent of trips daily.
