Kampe campaign: mud slinging from the start.

With roughly 6 weeks to go until Dennis Kampe joins the long list of failed democrat candidates, his campaign, unfortunately, has already started the mud-slinging contest so reminiscent of the Jon Russell campaign.

Russell, who has publicly endorsed Rivers while privately supporting Kampe, who Kampe has described as his "good friend and political adviser," ran one of the most underhanded, filthy, inaccurate and flat out lying campaigns it has been my displeasure to witness.

Well, here's your sign: stick to issues, Dennis.

Look, I know you're a democrat with both hands tied behind your back: first, as I said, you're a democrat. In the 18th, that means you're in the wrong party in a year where democrats have become the political equivalent of child molesters due to their demand for tax increases in the middle of a recession, their kow-towing to union thuggery, their out of control spending, their efforts to bury this nation under a horrific mountain of debt, their failed economic strategies that screw the tax payer and their corruption and incompetence at the top.

Your second hand tied behind your back is your positions.

You support the bridge. You support light rail. You support a state income tax. You oppose privatization of liquor stores and any other government function.

So, you go so far as to attack Ann Rivers directly instead of talk about the issues... because, of course, you know you can't win on the issues.

"The voters of the 18th Legislative District have an important choice to make this November. Some people seem impressed that Ann Rivers already has plans. But are these plans that have been informed by her time lobbying for special interests?"

This is an excerpt from a canned Kampe campaign letter directly from Kampe's campaign organization that was farmed out to get someone who has no clue to sign it and send it in to a newspaper. (As a general rule, any letter that sounds like campaign talking points is, well, campaign talking points.) It is precisely the same thing that Jon Russell did, talking about precisely the same subjects.

And I'm surprised by all of this, given that Dennis now seems to be reduced to Russell's talking points... in this case, attacking a school district as a "special interest."

Of course, as a union leftist school administrator, Kampe wouldn't know anything about "special interests."

Would he?

So, here's the deal: stick to the issues. That way, when this is over and you get flattened, you'll at least have some shred of integrity intact.

Memo for Jon Russell:The Code of Geddes

As most readers know, Jon Russell ran (badly) for both Congress and the state House. In running, he forgot a few things that resulted in continued lies and exaggeration, character assassination and a generally despicable campaign that wound up with the inevitable result: he got clobbered.

Well, here's a few rules that Jon SHOULD have lived by and remembered. Had he done so, the outcome might have been much different.

1. A degree or lack of it doesn’t mean a thing: it’s what you can do/bring to the team and the ideas you have that count, not a piece of paper.

2. Once a member of the team, you are a member for as long as you want to be.

3. Credit doesn’t matter, only results. Try to be sure that credit is given where it is due, but if you can share a bit with others, it adds and does not subtract. Be sure to credit all members of the team.

4. Ideas are great, but cheap; results are what count, and are truly valuable.

5. Identifying and treating a symptom of a problem is good, but identifying and treating the root problem (medical or otherwise) is best.

6. If you are not trying to better the human condition, why are you bothering to do what you do?

7. Always look on the bright side, and try to find something good to say about anyone.

These rules, extrapolated by an employee of Purdue University (Now working as an independent contractor) are rules that anyone seeking office should live by. Russell, of course, is incapable of such things, since it's all about him.

Yes, he should take these rules to heart. It might stop him from leaving his death wishes for me in the comments sections of these blogs.

It might.

But it probably won't.

I'm hearing it: throwing a tantrum, Jon Russell is supporting Dennis Kampe.

Showing his true colors... again... Jon Russell is picking up his football and going home with it, so to speak.

I've heard from a variety of GOP sources that "Republican" Jon Russell is working to get Dennis Kampe elected to the position of State Representative in the 18th District to replace Jaime Herrera in the open seat.

I'd heard rumors to that effect when I asked the rhetorical question, when is Russell going to endorse Rivers?

I admit I cheated when I asked the question. I already knew Russell was acting like a punk, and that he was going to support a fellow democrat for the position, meaning that I knew the answer to the question was "never," even while I was asking it.

To Russell, it's all about him. Screw those delusional enough to have voted for him because he's allegedly a "Republican;" he's going to do everything he can to get a democrat elected... like a spoiled, rotten brat.

Well, there you have it. Russell is actively working to get a democrat elected because he's playing the role of "victim." He's pouting in a way he wouldn't put up with if his 4 year old was doing it.

And the irony out of all of this is that Kampe is giddy... because he hasn't figured it out.

Russell wants Kampe to win so he can run against him in 2012. Period.

Does Kampe know that?

Russell thinks he can keep his abysmal political career alive only if he can target Kampe.

He knows that Rivers would flatten him... again... if he were stupid enough to go after her as an incumbent in the 2012 primary.

So, while Dennis may believe that Russell actually DOES support him, what Russell REALLY supports is his ability to run again in 2012. And Kampe winning is the only realistic way for Russell to get there.

Of course, Russell apparently doesn't realize that his multiple lies, exaggerations and public support of a democrat has killed his political future, so even if this fantasy were ever to see the light of day, Russell would still be unfit for political office... and he would still... lose.

So, the question's been asked: "Why keep hammering on Russell?"

Fair enough.

First, Russell is still elected to something. That's not really acceptable to me, so keeping the people informed as to what he's all about and what he's doing is part of what this blog is about.

Second, had Russell lied about his education in Oregon, he'd be facing the same kind of difficulty the now former mayor of West Linn is under scrutiny for. Since I was the public source of the allegations, the paper buried it even when they found out they were true, instead of "holding him accountable."

He would have faced arrest, investigation and the essentially forced resignation from the Washougal city council that he so richly deserves. Does anyone believe that Russell, who ran for the city council even while still running for Congress, would have been elected had the voters there knew he had lied about his education and, for example, the nonsense about his wife being a doctor?

Third, Russell is now supporting a democrat in the 18th District.

Instead of endorsing the top vote-getting Republican, he's working to help Dennis Kampe get elected in the 18th.

Considering what his chief weasel, Gary Wiram had his panties up in such a bunch over the nonsensical allegations that Rivers was a democrat that Jon Russell (TeacherJudyBanks) would actually BE a democrat is kind of beyond the pail.

Russell is, allegedly, a staunch Christian. He waves his Bible around like a flag, and many people actually believe it.

But the major hallmark of a Christian is the ability to forgive. And while nothing I've written or said about Russell has been anything but the truth as I understand it, Russell sees himself blameless and a victim... the hallmarks of the leftist democrat. Otherwise, he would have already come out in support of Rivers, recognizing that he was just beaten by the superior candidate.

I will not, as others have suggested, apologize to Russell for anything I've said or done, particularly since I warned him ahead of time that if he ran, I would bring out the truth about him to as many people as possible.

People are shocked at my honesty... and pay no attention to Russell's deceit.

For Russell, his options are simple: He can continue on as he is, knowing that every political thing he does will be subjected to examination or discussion on this blog.

Or he can resign, before the recall gets up and running and he's invited to leave.

Meanwhile, the coverage continues. But as long as Russell is in politics, I'm going to be here.

"Guilt by Association?" The wierdness zone, Jon Russell and Steve "Cold Hard Cash" Stuart.

So, Steve "Unmarked Bills" Stuart was out and about today. And what was he doing?

He, Stuart, was PERSONALLY taking his 4x8'S off Russell's 4X8 frames, removing Russell's signs, and then replacing them with the signs he'd screwed on directly over the top Russell's as shown in the post below.

How weird.

Of course, I'm sure Stuart's had a few questions to answer just like Russell over his strange bed fellows.

How sad is it that Russell is so screwed up that he's given his locations and his wood to a fringe left democrat like Stuart, instead of Alan Svehaug, Stuart's GOP challenger?

And how sad is it for Stuart that he can't use his own wood and put up his own signs?

But to take Russell's signs down... and then put his own back up using Russell's wood, as if none of this had happened?

That is totally bizarre.

Note the Svehaug 4X8 attached to what had formerly been a Republican sign. Note the obvious signs of removal and re-attachment on Stuart's 4X8.

Why didn't Russell invite Svehaug instead of Stuart to use his sign locations and frames?

Inquiring minds want to know.

And Steve... Jon... I've got people everywhere.

Russell can't help himself: resurrects his "alexisclassic" identity on the Columbian.

One of the problems about displaying psychopathic tendencies is that those so afflicted can't help what they do. They're confronted by a reality they distort, such as Jon Russell lying to the 18th District PCO's about his education, how much money he had raised and that his wife was a "physician," all while I was sitting there, watching and listening to him do it.

What did Russell think I was going to do when he lied directly in front of me... nothing?

So, Russell, fully outed over his fake "teacherjudybanks" identity is left to use his fake "alexisclassic" identity to attack me and Rivers once again.

Look, dude, I get that I've knocked you so far off message that it can't even be piped into you with an oil drilling rig.

But this verbal beating on a woman that you so specialize in?

That might work in your house, but it ain't gonna work here.

But that's OK, Jon. in a few days, you'll begin the spiral into the obscurity you so richly deserve.

Creating Distance From A Problem: Jon Russell kicks "teacherjudybanks and alexisclassic to the curb."

Ultimately, we observed the sun set on Jon Russell's political career yesterday with his actions confirming that he had set up not one but two fake identities designed with two purposes in mind: To pump up Jon Russell and to bash Ann Rivers and myself.

The moment he was confronted by the facts of the matter, he immediately set about to cover up his tracks. As described below, the fake Jon Russell posted as Judy Banks on his own facebook page, and then immediately answered himself.


The only way that could have possibly worked is if Russell had been on his page at the exact same time "Judy Banks" posted. And how likely is that?

Confirming that he and Banks are the same person happened the moment Russell removed the post and his response to it, screen captured here, both from his facebook page and the "Banks" Facebook page.

When I looked at Banks' friends list, it seemed kind of strange that it appears none of them were either local or family. Doesn't everyone on facebook have local friends and family?

And those friends listed... a claimed member of the democratic national committee, and the gay rights front group the Human Rights Campaign?

How likely is it that a devotee of Russell would have friends like that?

So, what happened is that Russell kicked that identity to the curb, along with his other Columbian sock puppet, "alexisclassic."

"Alexisclassic" managed to sign up the same day as "teacherjudybanks." That identity also managed to post the same way, on the same subjects; specifically, to support Russell and to attack me.

The moment I tagged Russell with using the "teacherjudybanks" identity, it disappeared from the radar screen. "alexisclassic?" Same thing.

The nature of the attacks Russell used were despicable, disgusting and offensive. They do show the true Russell, of course, but it's the faux Russell running for office.

Russell cannot win, now. And clearly, he is a disturbed individual who needs help.

It would be best for all concerned if he would withdraw from this campaign and resign from the Washougal City Council before he faces... and loses, an upcoming recall election I started hearing about today.

He needs to focus on his family, and healing, and getting the help he needs to become the same person on the outside that e is on the inside... whatever that may be.

So, Russellians commenting here claim I have no "proof" of the Russell-sockpuppet connection.

For some people, a video of Russell typing in the actual words wouldn't suffice as "proof."

Here's what I've got:

A fairly convincing timeline and Russell's own actions in this matter would, I believe, cause any reasonable person to conclude that Russell is, in fact, "teacherjudybanks" AND "alexisclassic."

The teacherjudybanks timeline:

1. "teacherjudybanks" registers and starts posting on the 28th of July.

2. The 28th of July just happens to be the day the ballots start to hit.

3. "teacherjudybanks" then proceeds to engage in a vitriolic and filthy series of lies and innuendo, including comparing the cost of a "corridor" Russell wants to build with the cost of another blogger's viagra.

4. A review of "TJB's" posts all show one recurring theme: Pro-Russell, and almost violently anti-Hinton with a splatter aimed at Rivers.

5. This persona comments on, or about, absolutely nothing else.

6. Then, suddenly out of nowhere, "Judy Banks" comments on Russell's Facebook page about the terrible things "Ann Rivers is doing to him."

7. Russell replies at the same time, based on the Facebook record screen-captured below. Ever seeking to polish his facade of "Christian," Russell replies "Thanks, Judy. Remember, we don't battle against flesh and blood. Pray for them."

8. There are, of course, no coincidences in politics.

9. I look at "Judy Banks" friends on her Facebook page, and discover a collection of fringe left types, including a claimed democrat national committee member and at least one gay rights group friend on the list. I think to myself: why would anyone with friends like this want to do anything but drive over Russell with a bus?

10. I smell a rat. With 6 years of experience with Russell, I begin to detect his typically underhanded politics.

11. I decide to go for the shot in the dark. I call Russell out... here on this blog and on CCP, and I accuse him of being "teacherjudybanks" and "Judy Banks," facebook persona.

12. Next morning, Russell, who is a faithful follower of this blog, has made any mention of the "Judy Banks" persona disappear from his Facebook page.

13. Equally, there is no mention on the "Judy Banks" Facebook page that Banks posted anything on Russell's "Wall." In short, visually and on the surface, there is no proof that Banks ever posted anything on Russell's campaign Wall. It's simply... vaporized. In fact, if I hadn't anticipated Russell's actions (he is rather predictable) by getting a screen capture of all of this, there'd be no evidence of a "teacherjudybanks" - Russell facebook connection at all.

14. Further, "teacherjudybanks" seems to have fallen silent on the newspaper website.

15. That, of course, brings us to "alexisclassic," another pro-Russell, anti-Hinton scum-spreader.

16. Records indicate that this "alexisclassic" person registered at the same time as "teacherjudybanks."

17. I pointed out the similarities of the two personas. Of note is that the "teacherjudybanks" persona immediately stopped posting on the Columbian web site, but believing he hadn't been figured out, Russell, using the "alexisclassic" identity did one last slash and burn attack.

18. I posted the similarities between the two, and I tied Russell to both.

19. "alexisclassic" hasn't posted since.

So, there you have it. Two very outspoken and opinionated identities, suddenly silent. One completely vaporized off Russell's Facebook campaign Wall, as is any mention of her posting to that Wall from "her" own Facebook page.

If these identities were real, would they just go away, quietly, into that dark night?

Would they just suddenly stop posting? Would Russell have removed any mention of Judy Banks from his Facebook page if Banks were real?

Of course not.

But instead, he panicked and tried to cover his tracks... and I caught him.

While this case is completely circumstantial, it is more than enough to convict.

So, for those of you reading this who don't believe I have "proof" of anything, feel free to keep thinking that. But then, short of a confession... the kind of confession this "Godly" man, who had been "changed" by the "birth of his daughters" told me he had undergone... SHOULD be publicly making to take responsibility for his actions... many of his supporters would refuse to believe how badly they had been taken in by this huckster, and not accept ANY evidence.

What you, the reader, believe or don't believe is up to you. But the facts speak for themselves, and there's only a few available conclusions.

Truth is that Jon successfully led the charge to force the Mayors resignation from office when there was no doubt in his mind that she had falsified documents detailing the revenue from the events she had put on for the city. It's not just that Russell would actually make up a fake identity to spew sewage of the type allegedly objected to by the paper.

Its that someone who could write:

"Remember, we don't battle against flesh and blood. Pray for them"

could POSSIBLY show their true selves under the cloak of anonymity.

Isn't true character and integrity based on the entire concept of what we do when no one is looking?

As I pretty much established below, it seems that Jon Russell is so angry and frustrated by his inability to successfully campaign, or get support, or funding... that he's kind of left to making people up.

It sure seems, based on the evidence, that "teacherjudybanks" is a Russellian sock puppet.

Can the same be said for "alexisclassic?" Let's take a look, shall we?

Russell, I mean, "teacherjudybanks," registered on July 28th.

Oddly, "alexisclassic" registered on, you guessed it, July 28th.

Coincidence?

"teacherjudybanks" only posts in support of Russell or to attack Rivers or myself.

"alexisclassic?" You guessed it; has only posted to support Russell or to attack Rivers or myself and nothing else.

ANOTHER coincidence?

"teacherjudybanks" writes a certain way, using the same kind of verbiage as, well, "alexisclassic."

Earlier today, I killed off the "teacherjudybanks" sock puppet, so Russell, apparently somewhat angry I "outed" him, resorted to using the "alexisclassic" identity to blast me in a rage once again.

Interesting behavior, that. I'm thinking someone has some rage issues that he needs to get resolved.

Have you considered anger management classes, Jon?

So, on the comment section of the Columbian articles, it appears that "teacherjudybanks" is, in fact, Jon Russell.

I've been fascinated by this "teacherjudybanks" persona since it showed up on the paper's comment section July 28. I was even more fascinated that the ONLY things "she" commented on had to do either with Jon Russell or Ann Rivers or me.

In the past, I've found myself attacked personally by Russell using the persona "The Black Hand." Russell has an image, you know... an image of a faithful, church going, God fearing man. So, in order to foster that image, he can't come out in public and address these things. But under the cloak of anonymity (the kind this very newspaper seems to have had such a fuss about) why, the gloves have come off.

Here's a link to the comments from "Banks." Mysteriously, "Banks" came into being on July 28th with the article "Sprawling 18th District yields crowded ballot for House seat" and every comment since has been to bash Rivers or myself, or to pump up Russell.

Now, given that so few people not connected to Russell's campaign directly or indirectly have commented for Russell, I can see why someone of Russell's mentality might build a sock-puppet and use it to pump themselves up.

But as a tactical matter, Jon, the next time you do this, you really should spread the love around a little bit, and have the sock puppet you've built from the ground up comment on something besides those things that YOU care about. Otherwise, it becomes the first clue that the sock puppet probably is, in fact, you.

I found it odd that someone who neither knew me or of me would be so vitriolic about me. That typically goes against what I believe to be human nature. How could someone suddenly start posting like they were completely familiar with every aspect of what's going on in this campaign... at this late date? Where were they before this? What kept them from being this involved before?

Then this happened: Looking at Russell's facebook page, this little wart in his field of clover popped up at around 3 or so yesterday afternoon:

So, I had to ask myself: how is it that this "Judy Banks" person posted on Jon's Facebook and Jon just HAPPENED to be there at the SAME TIME, to respond to the post in question?

Well, it's really easy if you're the same person.

So, I took a quick look at "Judy Banks" 'friends' page, to see if there's any local connection.


And what do I find?

I find that "Judy's" first friend claims to be a member of the Democratic National Committee. I find that Judy has "friended" the gay front group, "Human Rights Campaign Seattle." I find that with one exception, there is no local connection at all. I find that "Judy Banks" apparently doesn't have any family members or local friends on Facebook.

That seemed just a little odd.

So, over on Russell Watch, I fire a shot in the dark, suspecting the truth and thinking I could flush Jon out like quail, since he's not the brightest fellow and so politically inept, and call Russell out. I allege, point blank, that Russell is Banks and Banks is what amounts to Russell's sock puppet.

Then I call it a night.

And what do I find when I get up?

Why, the post by Banks, screen captured above, has magically disappeared off Russell's Facebook! And of equal interest is the fact that not only has "Bank's" post been removed from Russell's FaceBook, but so is the notice that "Banks" even posted on Russell's Wall, a notice that would stay up even if Russell had removed it.... UNLESS...

Unless he accessed the Banks page and removed that from "her" page as well.

See, this is known as trying to "cover your tracks." It's kinda like what Russell's been doing with his fake degree, or his effort to cover the tracks of calling his wife a "Doctor" in the Vancouver Business Journal, among other places.

So, without the screen captures, there's no proof that any of this even happened.

Now, there's only so many reasons that Russell would take these steps.

One reason is the obvious one: that I've caught him dead to rights.

Russell, never the brightest bulb on the tree, folds up like a cheap suit and tries to eliminate any trace of his perfidy. Reminds me of the Nazi effort to cover their tracks around some of their concentration camps towards the end of the War.

But if I were wrong... then why would he take all that stuff down... and why would it have disappeared from both Russell's FaceBook page AND Banks' FaceBook page?

What would anyone else do under similar circumstances if this "Banks" person was legitimate?

It's hard to draw any other conclusion.

Strange uptick in blog visits.

I'm mystified but appreciative: my blog traffic has recently skyrocketed, with many of those visiting becoming return readers.

I guess providing easily accessible evidence that supports conclusions and observations has its own reward.

Do you suppose it's the campaign season? Traffic on Jon Russell Watch has at least TRIPLED. Many of those numbers came from a rabid Jon Russell-supporting swindle sheet (oooppps. I mean blog) called CWWatch, where any criticism of Jon Russell is usually deleted immediately, because, well, after all, facts have no place in the political discussion over there.

But it took several hours for a link to Russell Watch to be taken down there over the past couple of days, allowing around 100 people to actually experience the freedom of thought, expression and opposing views this blog represents.

All in all, it would seem that the impact hoped for by many has turned into something of a joke.

But, anyway, thank you all so much to those behind this major influx of readership. It's appreciated.

More later, but now it's time to go out and wash and wax my big ol' red truck.

As a result, there will be no formal investigation. That's just as well, because the whole point of that aspect of the exercise was to get Russell into compliance with the rules which govern every other candidate for state representative.

While other allegations remain outstanding, this one has been put to bed. Thanks go to the Public Disclosure Commission for acting on this issue, and thanks go to the Russell Campaign for taking the needed steps to follow the law.

As regular readers now, I have filed 9 allegations against Jon Russell's campaign for violations of the Washington State Public Disclosure laws.

three of those allegations were the same thing: Russell has refused to follow the law concerning reporting electronically (as opposed to manually via fax of snail mail) as required if you even INTEND to spend more than $10,000 in your campaign.

As specified by the PDC 2 days after I filed the first allegation:

Two additional complaints later, and Russell has FINALLY decided to follow the law, in this instance, 5 months after he should have and almost one month after I first filed a complaint about it.

I am responding on behalf of Jennifer Hansen. PDC staff has been in contact with Jon Russell about his need to file his PDC reports electronically. He has responded by filing the required signature authorization form and has selected the necessary passwords, meaning he can now begin filing electronically. He has been entering data into the PDC’s ORCA software and has stated that he expects to file all reports electronically on Monday, July 19, 2010. You will be receiving a written response to your complaints shortly.

Well, I at least appreciate that Russell is now going to meet the legal requirements of campaigning in this state... finally... after I had to turn him in for failing to follow the law for several months.

Good job, Jon. You deliberate violation of the law makes us proud... while all the while, providing ADDITIONAL reasons to vote against you.

How anyone can support someone to become a lawmaker who so cavalierly disregards that law when it suits them is beyond me. Maybe somebody who reads this can fill us all in.

Will this be the second reason Rossi loses?

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that 2010 will be a GOP year. The fringe left nutjobs running government at the state and federal levels are doing everything they can to get the dems crushed in the upcoming election.

That said, one of the more troubling aspects for the GOP is the unbelievable arrogance establishment candidates like Dino Rossi and Jaime Herrera typically show.

Herrera, who fired the LA she acquired when she got the appointment in 07 because she was "too old," has been the epitome of arrogance. Of course, having an interfering Godfather type like McMorris around to drag her to the finish line doesn't help in that regard, nor does her almost mythical ability to be given everything she's received instead of actually going out and earning it. Herrera, like Rossi, have become legends in their own minds. They see themselves as being unstoppable.

This, however, is Washington State. And their is no sure thing. Herrera's leftist tendencies verified when she moronically told the Columbian:

“Not once have you heard me criticize Brian Baird’s performance in Southwest Washington,” she told the editorial board. “Linda Smith and Baird both have an independent streak.”

As if Baird hadn't done volumes of things worth not only "criticizing" but condemning outright; when combined with her "Guardian of the SEIU" status and her help gladly given to the leftists to rip off the last $229 million out of the state emergency fund.... these are the kinds of things that make genuine Republicans cringe at the very idea of a closet leftist like Herrera getting elected to dog catcher.

Rossi, of course, has the same types of problems based on HIS "anointed" status.

As a rule, over-arching arrogance isn't an attractive reason to vote for someone.

Rossi's first horrific mistake based on arrogance was his failure to announce back in February. That allowed the fringe left to use him as a pinata while he couldn't answer; it gave Murray the opportunity to raise additional millions unencumbered by having high profile competition and it kept Rossi from getting a 4 month head start on his own fundraising needs... his bogus "he raised $600,000 in a week!" crock notwithstanding.

Now, his second mistake built out of arrogance: blowing off the grass roots in the guise of the Tea Party.

BELLINGHAM — At Whatcom Community College's Syre Auditorium last week, the passion of the conservative tea-party movement was on full display.

More than 400 people packed the candidate forum sponsored by the Bellingham Tea Party, cheering raucously for Republican U.S. Senate candidates Clint Didier and Paul Akers as they one-upped each other with calls to chop the federal government down to a size the Founding Fathers might recognize.

The evening had all the flavor of the conservative insurgency that has become this year's popular national political narrative — a tide that has washed away establishment GOP candidates in Utah, Kentucky and Florida in favor of fiery tea-party-backed rivals.

And yet there was one crucial absence: Republican front-runner Dino Rossi, who spent the day at a Spokane Republican women's luncheon. It was the second big tea-party forum he has skipped in recent weeks

One of the things you learn in this business is that there are, in reality, two elements to a successful election.

The first, of course, particularly in a contested primary with a relatively low turn out coming up, is to provide people with reasons to vote for you. At this point, as far as I can tell, the only reason to vote for Rossi is that he's Rossi.

That's not nearly good enough for me, at least, and I will not be voting for Rossi. I'm long since the stage in my life where I find "settle for" votes to be acceptable.

The second, and easily the "as important" aspect of elections is to not provide people with reasons to vote against you.

Locally, the best example of that truism is Jon Russell, whose consistent lies and exaggerations, combined with his use of Washougal city government as a campaign prop along with his avoidance of responsibility for the many times he's screwed up as a councilman has provided thousands of people with many reasons to blow past him on the ballot.

Rossi, on the other hand, heaps scorn on the Tea Party by acting as if they didn't exist.

Well, here's a clue: those of us supporting the Tea Party issues DO exist. And if he goes to the general... he will need each and every one of those votes... and he won't get them.

Yeah, yeah.... I've seen the polling. But we live in a state as deep and darkly blue as downtown Moscow when it comes to election results.

Does ANYONE believe that if he gets to the general, Rossi will win in a blowout?

I'm not convinced he can win or will win by any number. But does anyone think it isn't going to be close?

I will be among the percentage of those who will not vote for Rossi under any circumstances. That percentage may be small... but it will be there.

And that, like this moronic delay in announcing, will be the fault of the arrogance of Rossi.

With the primary campaign season just beginning, only one thing seems certain: whatever the outcome, in at least two key state races, Southwest Washington's legislative delegation in Olympia will get some new blood.

In the contest to replace Herrera, who is currently making a run for Congress in the Third Congressional District, Republican front runner and small business owner Ann Rivers hopes to make it through a broad field of GOP candidates to face the Democrat, Clark County Skills Center director Dennis Kampe.

"We've been down this road for six months," Rivers said. "It's almost like giving birth."

The owner of a public and government relations company since 1996, Rivers has based her campaign largely on business issues, advocating against what she called "onerous" regulations and taxes - in particular, the state's controversial Business and Occupancy levy on gross receipts.

"I'm fighting this idea that government can squeeze and squeeze businesses until they can't take it anymore," she said.

As in the race to fill Wallace's seat, the 18th Legislative District contest was overshadowed by a yawning state budget deficit and a persistently-high unemployment rate in many communities throughout Southwest Washington.

Kampe, the only Democrat appearing on this year's ballot in the district, told the VBJ last month he first considered running for the seat because of concerns about education. A fiscal conservative, Kampe looks to attract independent voters in this traditionally GOP-friendly district.

"I think Dennis is a pretty conservative guy," Probst said. "He's always described himself as a ‘Republicrat.'"

As of VBJ's press time, Rivers led with over $42,000 raised thus far, followed by Kampe with $16,495, according to PDC figures.

Rounding out the Republican field in the 18th District, Position 1, is Russell, Brandon Vick and Anthony Bittner, as well as independent candidates Jon Haugen and Richard Carson.

With turnout in Clark County expected to hit 35 percent, according to Clark County Elections supervisor Tim Likness, the election may hinge on who gets out more of their supporters to return their ballots, which will be mailed out July 28.

"It really comes down to how much effort the candidates put into it," Likness said.

Well, Rivers is, of course, the front runner and has been since she announced.

No one who actually believes we should indebt the people of Clark County $100,000,000 a year to build a bridge to give his union buddies temporary jobs at our expense is a conservative. You can call Moeller a "moderate" all you like, and that doesn't make it so... to put a point on it, "Republicrat" my ass.)

Nevertheless, when a publication like the VBJ uses a label like that, it's got to hurt the more delusional of candidates.

Russell's defense is “I’ve always said I’ve earned my degree. I’ve never said I obtained my degree.”

From a screen shot of Russell’s About Me page on his website from November 2009, I read his claim of “Jon’s experience in politics started as he was working on his degree in political science first at Vincennes University and finally at Thomas Edison College in Trenton N.J.”

His About me page, effective July 6, 2010 says, “Jon’s experience in politics started as he was working on his degree in political science first at Vincennes University and finished his degree at Thomas Edison College in Trenton N.J.”

Calls to Thomas Edison College confirm he was never awarded a degree.

Left unsaid in the Columbian post are allegations that he has claimed his wife and co-owner of Columbia Gorge Medical Center in Washougal is a "Doctor" and a "physician" when she is in fact an advanced Registered Nurse practitioner.

I find it hard to understand the motivation of an alleged Christian who would lie about these things, or, for that matter, who wouild be so eager to leave his wife with yet another infant so he can go up to Olympia and play State Representative.

Is it true that Jon's business advertises that his wife is a Doctor instead of a Family Nurse Practitioner?

In reference to Clark County Politics authored by Kelly Hinton: Is it true that Jon advertises his wife as a Doctor instead of a Family Nurse Practitioner?

The Vancouver Business Journal published a story on the Federal Healthcare legislation recently adopted into law; In the article the Vancouver Business Journal referred to Sarah Russell as a Doctor. When this was brought to Jon's attention in the blogosphere he asked them to change the on-line version to reflect Sarah's official title.

An accusation was made by the same blog that Jon was advertising that Sarah was a Doctor. The fact is that Jon's medical clinic does not spend money on advertising. The posting found in the Camas/Post Record wrongfully refers to Sarah as a Doctor is their on-line directory.

It is clearly stated on the door of their medical clinic that Sarah Russell is a Family Nurse Practitioner. Jon is proud of this fact, because his business model is built on Independent Family Nurse Practitioners delivering quality care at a lower price.

Odd, isn't it? I have no problem linking to his blog or even the specific post in question... yet he can't seem to even name the blog that's beating his non-existent credibility to a pulp.

Any hoo.... let's address these issues, shall we?

Faux question one:

Russell responds to his own, carefully worded answer:

The reason this defies believability is simple:

I have heard, from his own mouth, Jon Russell describe his wife as a "physician." That particular lie was delivered to 18th District PCO's on May 22.

Further, how likely is it that the Vancouver Business Journal would publish an article... and this narcissistic serial liar wouldn't read it? And, having read the article in question, did the fact that the VBJ refered to his wife as a doctor just completely escape his attention? Why didn't he have it changed immediately when he read it?

Why, indeed.

And Jon's cowardice? That's further confirmed by Russell failing to mention that the "blogosphere" that brought it to his attention was me.

You see, parsing isn't Russell's particular field of expertise. That Jon has yet to address lying to the PCO's? Well, that's another kettle of fish altogether. Jon goes on to whine:

Jon HAS been "advertising" his wife as a doctor, if to no other extent that HE is telling everyone she IS a doctor.

That said, how likely is it that the Camas Post Record's "on-line directory" went up in a bubble and Russell neither knew about it... or OK'ed it in advance? Regardless of whether or not he paid for the listing, is it even remotely likely that he was unaware of it? And regardless of the logistics of the posting, isn't it Sarah Russell's responsibility to make sure it's accurate?

And let's take a look at the title of Russell's post:

SARAH RUSSELL IS NOT A FAMILY NURSE PRACTITIONER.

SARAH RUSSELL IS AN ADVANCED REGISTERED NURSE PRACTITIONER.

Jon can't even get THAT right.

So, there you have it. Russell lies about having a degree. He lies about his wife being a doctor. He lies in an interview. He leaves Washougal city government a debacle. he cavalierly violates PDC law. He parses, badly, what he means to say. He obviously believes transparency is an arcane concept that doesn't apply to him. And he is unfit to hold public office.

Jon. You should have listened.

What does the phrase "I earned my degree" mean to most human beings?

To most of us, that means that he HAS a 4 YEAR degree from that college.

He doesn't. He doesn't have ANY degree from ANYWHERE.

It's kinda like the difference between an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner and a Doctor. They ain't the same.

He's lying on purpose, and now he's lying directly to the voters he would try and scam into voting for him.

I already feel sorry for his kids.

And I certainly feel sorry for the people of Washougal who are stuck with this clown until they either recall him or he gets bounced in the next election.

He even mentions McKenna like McKenna even knows this worm is alive.

Despicable.

Did Jon Russell, the Washougal city councilor who’s running for an open seat in the 18th Legislative District, misrepresent his academic credentials to precinct committee officers?

Yes, says Kelly Hinton, who leveled the accusation at Russell last week on his Clark County Politics blog.

No, insists Russell. So we checked it out.

Russell allegedly told 18th District precinct committee officers that he had a two-year associate degree from Thomas Edison State College in New Jersey. The college offers degrees through correspondence courses as well as at its bricks-and-mortar campus.

The college confirms that Russell enrolled in courses there, but says it has not granted him a degree.

Russell says he has earned more than the 60 credit hours required for an AA degree. He told The Columbian he has sent for his transcript to prove it.

But he concedes that he never got around to doing the paperwork required to get the actual degree.

When he looked into it last week, he said, he learned he would have to reenroll as a fulltime student in order to apply.

Joe Guzzardo, spokesman for Thomas Edison, confirmed the policy. Not only that, he said, it would cost Russell $630 to apply for the AA degree under the college’s “reenrollment to graduate” policy. Until last March, he said, the cost would have been $2,332 for former students living out of state.

“In order for someone like Mr. Russell to finish, they would have to take advantage of the ‘reenrollment to graduate’ policy,” Guzzardo said.

Russell maintains that he never said he actually had the degree. “I’ve always said I’ve earned my degree,” he told The Columbian. “I’ve never said I obtained my degree.”

Nevertheless, he said Tuesday, “I have submitted a ‘request for graduation’ form with Thomas Edison to have my diploma sent to me.”

Russell says Hinton’s blog “is designed to do nothing more than to tear down my credibility” because Hinton, a former legislative staffer, backs one of Russell’s opponents, Ann Rivers, in the 18th District race. “He is trying to turn over every rock,” Russell said.

Both Hinton and Rivers confirmed that they are business associates in a political consulting firm. Rivers called Hinton “a friend.”

But she said she’s not behind Hinton’s blog attacks. “I don’t need to tear down someone else’s building to make myself look taller,” she said.

Hinton confirmed in an e-mail that he supports Rivers’ candidacy, but he said he began criticizing Russell when he was still a candidate for the 3rd Congressional District seat. Russell dropped out of that race in February and joined a crowded field for the open 18th District position.

Kathie Durbin

Unfortunately for the reader not in the know, this article is factually incorrect in ways that just mystify me.

In my blog or in my email to Durbin, I never alleged that Russell had told the PCO's of the 18th District that he had a degree. I made no note of that whatsoever.

What I told Durbin was this:

The evidence I have provided; that Russell has indicated his wife is a “physician” to the 18^th District PCO’s, that he called her a ”doctor” in the Vancouver Business Journal and then changed the story to “family nurse practitioner” after I blogged about it and that Sarah Russell has advertised herself as a doctor at the Columbia River Gorge Medical Clinic in a newspaper owned by the Columbian, if I’m not mistaken, is not something I fabricated.

For whatever the reason, there was no mention of these allegations, which are as much a lie as Russell's fake degree.

And let's review the verbiage Russell was using on his website:

Jon’s experience in politics started as he was working on his degree in political science first at Vincennes University and finished his degree at Thomas Edison State College in Trenton, NJ.

CLEARLY this was meant to deliberately infer that he had completed a BACHELOR'S DEGREE, and NOT an AA.

How Durbin could confuse Russell lying to the PCO's about his degree and lying to the PCO's about his wife is just beyond me.

For those of us actually possessed of 4 year degrees, we recognize the major difference, parsed by Russell, between having more then the number of credits required for an AA degree and actually completing... and receiving... a bachelor's degree.

Russell knows that. Thus his Clintonesque, "it all depends on what the definition of "is," is response:

Russell maintains that he never said he actually had the degree. “I’ve always said I’ve earned my degree,” he told The Columbian. “I’ve never said I obtained my degree.”

Really?

So, this is the kind of representation Russell has to offer? One where we have to parse everything he says to figure it out?

Russell whines that my blog: "... is designed to do nothing more than to tear down my credibility” because Hinton, a former legislative staffer, backs one of Russell’s opponents, Ann Rivers, in the 18th District race. “He is trying to turn over every rock,” Russell said.

Well, the thing about credibility is this: If you don't lie, fabricate or exaggerate, then I've got nothing to write about... do I?

Unfortunately, the paper deliberately left out the FACT that I began nailing Russell's "credibility" as soon as he announced for Congress; instead of verifying that truth, relying alternately on the "I said I began criticizing Russell" when he announced for Congress, thereby deliberately failing to destroy Russell's position that my primary motivation for Jon Russell Watch wasn't my support of Ann Rivers, but instead, my opposition to Russell.

Typical.

And by the way, Jon.... I'm given to understand that you brought your own lies to the attention of the paper (Not that, since they read my blogs several times a day, they didn't know about them anyway) so I wanted to give you a hearty "Well done!"

So, while whoever wrote this has a fact check problem with a narrow-focused view with blinders, leaving out much of the other allegations which directly impact on Russell's increasingly non-existent credibility, this is, I suppose, better than nothing.

Barely. But this is, I suppose, what passes for "journalism" at the lazy C.
