The President continues to disappoint.

.
The "tinnest" ear in politics begins to resemble nothing so much as a can of Campbell's Soup.

Yesterday should have been an act of political contrition. Instead, it was an act of delusional arrogance.

Bogus budget "freezes," nonsensical heath care babble, continuing lies about the bogus "jobs created or saved" garbage... a complete lack of vision and down-the-rabbit-hole psychobabble.

He idiotically stood up there and told us, effectively, that the focus "in 2010" must be jobs.

A blind man could see in a minute that every waking moment not spent on defense SHOULD have been spent on REAL economic development, and not an unfathomable expansion of government and government jobs and government payroll.

It takes a clueless moron to FINALLY get around to "jobs" a year too late.

The continuing stupidity of trying terrorists in criminal court, the fantasy foreign policy (How's that "outstretched open hand" crap working for you?) ending DADT in the middle of a war....

The crippling political loses democrats have suffered and the blame Bush syndrome infesting democrat political leadership... all essentially without acknowledgment or impact.

Failing to include Republicans... closed door meetings... campaign promises over C-Span cameras that were campaign lies. Ham-handed unforced errors... basic incompetence and a lack of responsiveness frightening in dimension.

I have no confidence that the president can either recognize our problems not adequately respond to them. And I am always guided by the over-arching concept that as government expands, our liberties contract.

Someone, far wiser than I, once observed that government governs best when it governs least. And that's not what we're confronted with here... here, when we need it most.

Still feeling safer? So, leftists: where's your rage about Obama blowing our security?

.
You remember all that garbage about Bush and 9/11, right? Hell, it resulted in steller fellows like Charlie Sheen becoming a truther... kind of like following the footsteps of that amazing Van Jones character.

Well, guess what. We very nearly lost an aircraft and crew and God knows what else (where the wreckage may have fallen) when the Crotchbomber blew his genitalia off (Or fried them... or par-boiled them, or whatever) trying to take out a few hundred innocent Americans.

And guess what?

We knew.

Obama's intelligence people knew. The State Department knew. That hobbit that runs Homeland Security and who knows as much about the Homeland and Security as she does brain surgery had people who knew. She stupidly told us the "System worked." But she passed the Obama PC filter, so he hired political purity instead of security expertise.

It is a matter time until many, many Americans die under this moron's watch.

And you leftists sit silently by because Obama is your guy. Amazing how angry you clowns got when it was Bush. So why the silence now? Shouldn't the number one criteria be basic competency?

HHhhmmmmm?

Stacy Sellers is AWOL NOW, Jon Russell was AWOL THEN.

.
There appears to be little doubt that the allegations of poor leadership and judgment, along with what might arguably be incompetence and misfeasance or malfeasance, have destroyed any hope for any further political career on the part of soon to be former Washougal mayor Stacee Sellers. She has, essentially, disappeared since the election, where a well-planned and deliberate release of documents detailing some very peculiar spending on the city credit card on her part while she was in Vegas, allegedly on city business... along with a certain missing $100,000 or so.

The local paper used an interesting headline in describing the situation: Sellers AWOL in Washougal

It details the impacts of her invisibility, along with the rather juicy tidbit of a U-Haul outside her home.. so where did she go?

Don't know. And, to put a point on it, I don't care.

What I DO care about is that Jon Russell was AWOL THEN.

Russell, erstwhile congressional candidate and fake conservative, is, God help me, a Washougal City Councilman.

But not just ANY Washougal City Councilman.... oh, no.

He happens to be one of the three city councilmen who sat in oversight of ALL purchases made by this same credit card.

So.... where was HE when these many questionable charges, including alcohol, came up? Well, the alcohol apparently drew a flag, and she repaid the city for those charges.

The unanswered... and at this point, even unaddressed, question is this: Where was Russell?

Where was Russell?

Councilmen Russell, Peterson and Greenlee made up the finance committee that APPROVED Sellers' expenditures.

Where were all these fake, high profile objections then? There weren't any?

Why not?

If any of the three actually tasked with oversight of these expenditures had been doing their jobs... shouldn't this issue have come up THEN?

But it didn't. And now Russell, in his effort to get some cheap publicity, is so busy tossing Sellers under a bus that he really hasn't ever explained why HE failed to do HIS job, letting the taxpayers who entrusted him with this responsibility completely down.

Why is that, Jon? And why is it that you've taken the lead in stringing up Sellers when you failed to take the lead in your job of oversight over the credit card debacle?

I'd REALLY like to know... and since you plan on representing me, perhaps you'll swing by and give me an answer.

You won't, of course, because there IS no answer, save your misfeasance. And I'm pretty sure you don't want to talk about that.

Obama's Keystone-Cop politics.

.
There's an increasingly major element of tragedy that is the comedy in the White House... now that Paterson blames the empty suit for his troubles.

Unforced errors that would make even the newest beginning tennis player blush and hide their heads in shame. An inability to avoid the appearance of incompetence and short-sightedness that is going to cost, if it isn't already costing us, major amounts of spilled blood.

We all know the idiocy that has marked the tenure of the empty-suited, anti-American racist bigot occupying the White House; it would serve no purpose to rehash those elements of a failed presidency here.

So when we look at the stupidity of the White House and Paterson, all we can do is shake our collective heads at the morons running this country and believe we, as a Nation, can actually survive the empty suit's hopefully impeachment-shortened tenure.

The set up? Paterson, something of a major-league adulterer himself, took over for a dumb ass named Eliott Spitzer, who felt the only way he could get laid was to pay for it, in amounts that simply boggle the mind.

The problem is that Paterson has been an abysmal disaster as governor, not unlike most leftists who manage to scam the job.

That he was/is a disaster isn't a particularly difficult problem for the empty suit. The problem is that, unlike our half white president, Governor Paterson is all black... and vision impaired to boot.

Now, any fringe-left scum will tell you that no thinking, sentient being could POSSIBLY disagree with the empty suit's program of turning this country into a Marxist, Socialist Utopia unless they are possessed by the demon racism.

It's an automatic, built in, fall back possession for almost every leftist politician: explain and mute the opposition by running around, screaming, "RACIST!!!!"

It's a crock, of course. But playing the racism card knocks the opposition off message and plays to white guilt.

So... how are we to react to the Empty Suits's interference in New York politics? It's difficult to claim racism under the circumstance. Given the president's half-African, half Caucasian bloodline and Gov. Paterson's black genetic make up, can either party claim "racism?" Can their surrogates, like Obama's Winged Monkeys?

Of course not. Thus the moronic handling of this relatively simple matter again brings to light the rampant stupidity at play here... the frightening incompetence again displayed by the ACORN-in-Chief.

Paterson's insistence on running is a huge help to the GOP. Leftist efforts to clear the field for Cuomo, now exposed as most of their amateurish crap eventually sees the light of day will hurt them with key constituencies and provide the possibilities for major inroads by Giuliani with both minorities and a frequently overlooked group that can still vote in large numbers: those challenged with physical issues can be exploited for purposes of charging, this time accurately, discrimination by those who would sweep Paterson out of the way in the interests of political expediency.

And if those running this show weren't complete idiots, they'd already know that, and this whole sorry episode could have been avoided.

Destroying trust in government: Jon Russell's Blog

.
I hate political corruption. I hate it when the left tries it, as The Empty Suit has practiced it since he swindled us into voting for him.

I hate it when the right tries it, like Jon Russell, congressional candidate, is trying it now.

Jon passes himself off as some kind of conservative. But it's all for show.

One must not be judged by what they say or write when they're running for office. To find out the truth, one must review what one has done when he or she wasn't a candidate. And Russell is no exception.

Russell is no more a conservative than he is a brain surgeon. The fact of the matter is that I know a lot about Mr. Russell. And over the next several months, more and more will be provided on this blog, so you, too, will get to know Mr. Russell like I do.

And here's a disclaimer.

I do not work for any campaign. I am not writing this because anyone has told me to do so. I am not being paid, promised, threatened or coerced in any way. I just happen to know Mr. Russell and I don't like what I see. That said:

Today's tidbit?

We had a Port Levy election not too long ago back, when the Port Commissioners arrogantly attempted to ram a huge tax increase down our collective throats for money that, ultimately, they didn't need. The campaign was a miserable failure, losing in the vicinity of 70% "no" to 30% "yes."

Who was the political genius that ran that effort? Who was paid to do everything he could to ram through one of the largest tax increases in local history? Who was so politically inept and incompetent that the results will live on as one of the worst political massacres in local history?

Why, that would be one Jon Russell.

Russell has a history of political mercenary-ism. By running this unneeded and unwanted tax increase campaign, Russell has shown that, in the words of Charles Barkley, "If the money was right, I'd play for the Klan."

We've already GOT a cowardman that has sold out for campaign donations with huge earmarks.

Why we want to elect another one?

Ann Donnelly felt compelled to press release Russell in a recent column wherein she writes as the Columbian's token Republican (though certainly not a conservative... she's delusional enough to support the I-5 Bridge Replacement/Loot Rail scam) and Russell felt compelled to cut and paste it on to his blog... as if all of those words actually meant something.

They didn't.

We'll chat again.

Biden is a liar.

Oh, I certainly cannot argue that the inept incompetents running this country today are a group of clueless idiots who had no more idea what was going on when they saddled us with yet another trillion dollar debt in their failed, "unemployment won't exceed 8%" rip off then they do how to perform brain surgery.

His lies are thus:

During and shortly after the campaign when the empty suited idiot we have for president was scamming the unread stimulus into law by panicking everyone and talking the economy down, Obama repeatedly babbled that we now have "the worst economy since the Great Depression."

While that was just one of his many lies (There have been many economies much worse... most recently under Jimmy Carter) the fact is this: how can Biden tell us they "misread" the economy when they had already told us that the economy was, essentially, as bad as it could get?
"The figures we worked off of in January were the consensus figures and most of the blue chip indexes out there," Biden said.
That, of course, is his next lie.

THE CBO told the Administration that the porkulus package would not only NOT help the economy; it would damage the recovery.

If the CBO doesn't agree, then how can you claim "consensus?"

You can't.

I'm not an economist by any means. But this very blog is peppered with my conclusions that their program wouldn't work; that it was a massive waste of money... the Generational Indebtedness Act, as it were.

How is it that this outcome was so predictable for me... and so moronically beyond the comprehension of the idiots in charge?

So, knock off the revisionism, Mr. Vice President. History will not allow it.

Biden: ‘We misread how bad the economy was’

He stands by stimulus package, says jobs will be created in months ahead

updated 8:46 a.m. PT, Sun., July 5, 2009

WASHINGTON - Vice President Joe Biden said the Obama administration "misread how bad the economy was" but stands by its stimulus package and believes the plan will create more jobs as the pace of its spending picks up.

Biden, in an interview airing Sunday on ABC's "This Week," said the nation's 9.5 percent unemployment rate is "much too high."

"The figures we worked off of in January were the consensus figures and most of the blue chip indexes out there," Biden said.

On this 4th of July, what are you prepared to do?

.
It's another beautiful day here in my little corner of the United States. I'm sitting in my office, where I'm fortunate enough to work out of my home; surrounded by computer screens, looking out over my deck into the back yard.

Reading and listening to the news, providing updates and analysis; impacts and strategies. Immersed in oceans of information, looking for the bit or piece that will make a difference.

The problem with that is essentially, you frequently wind up knowing too much. You get too close. You follow along directly and you see the nightmare coming.

Each day, our country seems to be sinking deeper into the abyss. Each day, we become less a society of independent, self-reliant, self-accountable individuals and more a mass of sheep, driven by the clever shepherds who can manipulate public opinion through a corrupt, biased media.

Our massive debt, run up since the ascension of The One, will weaken this country for decades. The nanny state is on course for massive growth as the leftists controlling our government implement their campaign of lies and deceit, now forgetting all of the promises they made with little to no complaint by the "leg tingling" media.

Our sacrifices in Iraq soon to be forgotten as the leftists do not want to be reminded that despite their terrorist sympathies and their support of those who killed American men and women that THEY sent over there, early returns indicate that to some degree... we have succeeded... the democrat's best efforts notwithstanding.

And now, have you noticed? The American left has gone almost completely silent about the War. No massive demonstrations... no attacks on the troops... just the odd voice wondering aloud: How come, when democrats took over in 06 promising to end the war, and they didn't do what they promised us... how come we were so moronic as to believe them in 08.... and why were we moronic enough to vote for them again?

We used to project an aura of strength. The other countries with some power used to give us a hard time, but ultimately, the US prevailed, for the most part, because they respected the United States.

Well, who the hell respects us now?

We allow tin pot dictators like that moron in North Korea to fire missiles in our general direction.... telling him all along... no, no, no... you shouldn't oughtta do that... as they fire even more missiles.

And what are we doing about it?

The clown running Iran is slaughtering his own people to remain in power, while he busily builds the nuke that we've warned him he cannot have and our Great Leader can only sit on his thumb and spin in response?

What happened to us?

Are we so fat, dumb and happy that we are allowing this to happen?

As a nation, we are completely adrift. We're led by an incompetent moron who wastes our money on everything from weekly White House parties to flying that air yacht instead of taking his chopper out on his campaign stops.

Our media has abandoned us in favor of leg-humping the one they worked so hard to elect... facts and issues aside.

Who do we believe? Who do we look for? Who can lead us?

When the leftist bent of the Columbian interferes with facts and journalism. (Lies about aliens)

So I get a call from a friend of mine yesterday about a bizarre article in the Columbian that wrongly claims that "County can't deny services to immigrants."

First of all, the issue isn't ABOUT denying services to IMMIGRANTS.

The issue is about denying services to ILLEGAL ALIENS.

IMMIGRANTS are those who came here legally from another country. I've yet to read anything about denying services to anyone here legally.

Providing services to those here in violation of the laws of this country here illegally... that is, ILLEGAL ALIENS, is another thing entirely.

So, why didn't the newspaper make that distinction? Because they've allowed their bias to dictate their stories.

THIS paper doesn't want illegal aliens to be held accountable. THIS newspaper doesn't care that we have to reduce services due to expenditures to illegals. THIS paper doesn't care that we've had to lay off county employees because of budget cuts.

Nope... spending tens of millions of our increasingly scarce tax dollars on people violating the law of this land as an incentive for them to stay here is just peachy for the Columbian.

And I get that.

The problem is when their biases interfere with the increasingly tattered remnants of what passes for journalism at this paper, then the public is misinformed.

Now, I haven't decided if that's a result of poor reporting, incompetence, or bias... or a happy (for the paper) confluence of all three.

But the fact of that matter is this:

This county CAN deny "services" to our illegal alien population. The paper is either wrong... or lying.

CA Counties Cut Illegal Aliens Healthcare

From a deeply outraged Los Angeles Times:

California counties cut healthcare to illegal immigrants

With budget problems afflicting counties across the state, some have begun eliminating healthcare to illegal immigrants. Critics say this will only shift the burden to hospital emergency rooms.

By Anna Gorman
April 27, 2009

Forced to slash their budgets, some California counties are eliminating nonemergency health services for illegal immigrants — a move that officials acknowledge could backfire by shifting the financial burden to emergency rooms.

Sacramento County voted in February to bar illegal immigrants from county clinics at an estimated savings of $2.4 million. Contra Costa County followed last month by cutting off undocumented adults, to save approximately $6 million. And Yolo County is voting on a similar change next month, which would reduce costs by $1.2 million.

"This is a way for us to get through what I think is a horrible year for healthcare in California," said William Walker, director of Contra Costa Health Services.

More:

Odd, isn't it? California counties that seem to have to work under the same rules as Clark County now seem to be doing the very thing that OUR paper reports WE cannot do.

Maybe they'll do another article, where first, they'll mention that counties around this country actually ARE doing that which they wrongly allege we cannot; and second, how it is that they could write something... anything, without due diligence and fact checking.

I mean, after all, it took me all of about 10 seconds to discover that, once again, the paper has been dead wrong... as they've been dead wrong on so many other issues.

So... will the draft have to restart under Obama?

.
Back in the day, a congressional moron by the name of Rangel dropped legislation to restart the draft.
"Every day that the military option is on the table, as declared by the President in his State of the Union address, in Iran, North Korea, and Syria, reinstatement of the military draft is an option that must also be considered, whether we like it or not," Congressman Rangel said. "If the military is already having trouble getting the recruits they need, what can we do to fill the ranks if the war spreads from Iraq to other countries? We may have no other choice but a draft."
Talk about the irony.

Rangel, best known for his efforts to scam the taxman, was, of course, trying to stick it to President Bush. His efforts was as scummy as leftist efforts to kill Americans by undercutting the Surge.

All of that aside, the empty suited genius running this country has been such an incompetent idiot that our enemies have become increasingly emboldened by his rampant, unending stupidity, and look what we've got to show for it.

Well, yesterday, the NorKs renounced the Armistice that's been in place since 1953.

That means that we are now in a state of war with North Korea.

What to do.... what to do?

We don't have the military assets we need to continue on in Afghanistan while holding down the fort in the vicinity of Iran and simultaneously defending South Korea from that Northern nutjob.

As the rest of the bad guys around the world chat and compare notes, we're undergoing something of a Gulliver attack by the Lilliputians. Our esteemed, Empty-Suited Leader, building his Hearts and Flowers foreign policy, doesn't seem to notice that the hounds nipping at our heals are getting increasingly closer... with much larger bites.

Yes... I pine for the days of a Ronald Reagan... the days where, in the beginning, at least, the world knew exactly who were were, and precisely what they could expect if they screwed with us.

Now, the Moron-in-Chief would have our artillery pieces line up the length of the Korean DMZ and fire UN Resolutions at the massing NorK troops... because "pre-emptive strike" isn't in the American lexicon. Obviously, the NorK's are terrified of Obama and what he might do.

I mean... they are, aren't they? Isn't that why they waited a whole 14 hours to pop that nuke after the Empty Suit told them to behave?

So now, we're in a state of war. Or something. If I'm the US Commander in Korea or SEATO, I'm begging, borrowing or stealing everything I can lay my hands on.

But it's still not enough.

As Obama's miserable foreign policy falls apart because we're the only ones playing by, or concerned with, "the rules," I'm looking around and wondering: where's the wherewithal to fight?

NOW is the time to restart the draft. Now, before it's too late.

We will not have the luxury of time that history has been kind enough to provide us since our inception.

Distance is no longer the barrier it once was. Mutually assured destruction holds no attraction as a serious deterrent to the nut jobs surrounding us now.

So... do we continue to sit on our hands until it's too late?

Or do we start to prepare for the inevitable?

Yes, Americans are going to die because of that short-sighted amateur and his leftist supporters. The only real questions now are "how many" and "where?"

Preparedness now will blunt the losses that our decision to elect Obama will cause. It will give us a chance to survive the upcoming debacle of Obama's incompetence.

Will anyone bother to tell the messiah? Will he listen? Or, now that the teleprompter has blown down... or are we TRULY on our own?

Madame Speaker, as a rule, when you're in a hole, it's best to stop digging.

.
Madame Speaker, I've noticed that you have taken to engaging in that trite democrat practice, of, well, lying a lot.

Since you began to take power, most of the things you've said have been a lie.

You lied about enforcing a 5 day work week; you lied about getting us out of Iraq, you lied about pork in the stimulus and the budget... and now... you're lying about waterboarding.

Thousands of people have come here to read about Pelosi's lies and look at the video where she lies on camera.

Well, here's another video lie:

Now, as her "what did she know and when did she know it" lies are falling apart, all of a sudden, she's blaming the CIA.... for lying to her?

Gee. That's believeable.
"They mislead us all the time," she said. And when a reporter asked whether the
agency had lied, Pelosi said yes."

Yet... what did she do with her knowledge of this so-called "torture?"

Nothing.

She has a long-established pattern of lying when the mood strikes.

And it's pretty clear that the mood has struck.

Stop digging, Mademe Speaker. You're burying all of us. And when your level of liability becomes such that you get replaced, you'll have done women everywhere a disservice by not only being the first female speaker... but the first speaker to lose the job because of incompetence.

Unforced errors suck in tennis. They REALLY suck in Congress.

CURL: The Speaker misspeaks

  • Bookmark and Share

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, her eyes wide, her hands gesticulating wildly, on Thursday laid out a third version of what she knew and when she knew it on the Bush administration's interrogation policies, edging ever closer to debating what the meaning of the word "is" is.

With her own second-in-command now demanding more answers, the California Democrat, her voice barely audible at times, read a rambling statement at her weekly press briefing about her prior knowledge of the "enhanced interrogation techniques" (EITs) employed by under President Bush, asserting that she was not told in a September 2002 briefing that the U.S. government used waterboarding.

Minutes later, though, she acknowledged for the first time that her top security adviser was part of a February 2003 briefing in which he learned that American interrogators were in fact waterboarding suspected terrorists.

"My statement is clear, and let me read it again. Let me read it again. I'm sorry. I have to find the page," said a flustered Mrs. Pelosi, shuffling through papers, her hands quivering a bit, as she sought to stick to her prepared text.

"When — when — when my staff person — I'm sorry, the page is out of order — five months later, my staff person told me that there had been a briefing — informing that there had been a briefing and that a letter had been sent. I was not briefed on what was in that briefing; I was just informed that the briefing had taken place," she said.

The speaker's weekly press conference in her ceremonial office drew a standing-room-only crowd of reporters tracking the steady drip, drip, drip of revelations that have streamed out over the past several weeks. Clad in a key-lime green pantsuit and smiling broadly, Mr. Pelosi charged that the CIA lied to Congress and that House Republicans are using "a diversionary tactic" to deflect criticism from Mr. Bush.

Aside from not being briefed on what was in that briefing, she said she was very busy at the time — "I was fighting the war in Iraq at that point, too, you know" — and battling a Bush administration that was "misleading the American people about the threat of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq."

Repeatedly clearing her throat, she explained that she was briefed by the CIA in 2002, while on the House Intelligence Committee. Agency records indicate the Sept. 4 briefing included "a description of the particular EITs that had been employed" on al Qaeda detainee Abu Zubaydah, then the only suspected terrorist in U.S. custody. The previous month, he had been waterboarded 82 times.

Sorry, Sir, but I DO "blame you" for our horrific deficit.

.
Look, I appreciate having a staff of leg-humpers as much as the next guy. But Orszag really isn't doing the president any favors by trying to tell us this massive deficits HE has run up isn't HIS fault.

See, those of us paying attention know the dirty little secret that Mr. Obama's scum are unwilling to say: If (as if it were ever possible) the deficit had, somehow, miraculously shrank, that moron Orszag would have come out and told us all that it was a direct result of Mr. Obama's efforts.

OK. I can accept that. Except for one thing: If GOOD economic news is his doing...

... then so is the bad.

Mr. Obama was warned by the Congressional Budget Office NOT to dig us deeper in debt with your bogus stimulus. He was told that to do that would, in fact, SLOW our recovery.

He's lied to us about the economy. He BLASTED Bush for his "irresponsible handling of the economy," because of his "massive" budget deficits, deficits that look like fender benders compared to your 32 car freeway wreck.

As is so often the case, he didn't listen and he saw the opportunity to pay back his union massa's while he shoveled layer after layer of debt on to the heads of our children's children's children.

So, now, the natural result of his inept incompetence is coming out.

And his moronic budget director tells US not to blame HIM?

Fat chance, dooder. This is HIS economy. ALL of it. If it WORKS, he'll be WAYYYYYY out front, taking all of the credit. Good or bad, it's ALL on him.

When it falls on it's face, as it will inevitably do, he's gonna get all the credit for that as well.

Well done, Mr. President. You're screwing us up more and more every day.

Thanks for nothing.

WASHINGTON, May 11 (Reuters) - High U.S. budget deficits are being driven by an economic crisis that President Barack Obama inherited, White House Budget Director Peter Orszag said on Monday.

Orszag, writing in a blog posting, also said that the administration's latest budget deficit estimates -- which were revised upward by $89 billion and $87 billion for this year and next, respectively -- reflect the latest data on tax receipts, federal bailouts and other government costs.

Firing Caldera doesn't let you off the hook.

.
Mr. President, a few days ago It was suggested that someone needed to be fired for the Scare Force One NYC flyover.

When I read that, I had earnestly hoped that YOU would take responsibility for yet another domestic debacle, and that YOU would resign, sparing us the continued agony of your tenure as President.

Sadly, it was not to be. However, the sacrifice of former Secretary of the Army (Under Clinton) Louis Caldera, one in a series of your clueless appointments, certainly doesn't clear you of responsibility for your stupidity.

You screwed up by politicizing the White House Military Office; you screwed up by putting Caldera in charge of it, instead of a military Flag Officer, and then YOU allowed the people of downtown New York to be terrified as YOU wasted over $300,000 for a picture that will forever shame you; a picture that COULD have been photo shopped for a buck.

Mr. President, your unforced errors are continuing to frighten those of us who actually pay attention to what you do instead of how you look. PLEASE get someone in there with at least a modicum of competence before someone who can REALLY hurt this Nation gives it a shot.

WHITE HOUSE AIDE RESIGNS OVER FLYOVER FLAP

WASHINGTON -- A top White House aide resigned today for his role in Air Force One's $328,835 photo-op flyover above New York City that sparked panic and flashbacks to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. His resignation was made public at the same time the photo of the flyover was released by the White House.

Louis Caldera said the controversy had made it impossible for him to effectively lead the White House Military Office. "Moreover, it has become a distraction in the important work you are doing as president," Caldera said in his resignation letter to President Barack Obama.

The sight of the huge passenger jet and an F-16 fighter plane flying past the Statue of Liberty and the lower Manhattan financial district sent panicked office workers streaming into the streets on April 27. Obama said it would not happen again.

Caldera's office approved the photo-op, which cost $35,000 in fuel alone for the plane and two jet fighter escorts. The Air Force estimated the photo shoot cost taxpayers $328,835.

White House officials said the flight was designed to update the official photo of the plane, known as Air Force One when the president is aboard. The White House released a photo of the blue-and-white plane high above the Statue of Liberty, with New Jersey in the background.
