FOX is reporting that Chicago has lost their Olympic bid

.
So... we're out millions and the empty suit couldn't even get THAT right?

Clearly, no amount of lipstick on THAT pig changes it from anything BUT a pig.

You suppose that they were put off by the monumental arrogance and waste represented by the empty suit's wife vaporizing hundreds of thousands of tax payer dollars by rolling in a day early... instead of waiting ONE DAY and coming in on the massively wasteful plane trip of her old man?

Nah. Leftist arrogance is attractive, but even that can be over done. Clearly, ol bare arms was a hindrance; and the empty suit's "charm offensive" has been proven to be another waste of time, energy and effort.

The decision was just a few minutes ago.... so: how long until Obama blames Bush for HIS debacle?

The Columbian and John Laird: Blithering idiots.

.
The moment I read this, I new we were in for more of this moron's rank stupidity:
Light-rail critics might have difficulty answering this question: If light rail is such a wasteful boondoggle, shouldn't the systems around the nation be contracting and even closing?
One doesn't need to read farther to bask in this simpleton's idiocy. There are MANY government programs of a wide variety of descriptions that meet the "wasteful boondoggle" definition. When have ANY of those programs closed?

Taking it further, it requires a true, leftist scumbag to suggest that because OTHER massive wastes of money don't fold, that WE should become transportation lemmings and do the same, stupid, colossally wasteful things?

This complete waste of space would have us waste BILLIONS OF DOLLARS WITHOUT ASKING US to move less people in a day then frequently, car routes do in an hour, relatively speaking.

Of course, the other issue is this:

Weren't the fine people of Dallas, Portland and Seattle ASKED if they wanted what has turned out to be THE economic black hole of billions of transportation dollars?

When are the scumbags like Laird going to demand that WE be ASKED if WE want to pay for this?

Here, the fact is that loot rail critics have NO problem answering his moronic, unconscionable stupidity.

Where the so-called "difficulty" lay is in that those ramming this crapfest down our throats WILL NOT LISTEN.

The I-5 Bridge replacement has NEVER been justified. The Loot Rail system has NEVER been justified.

We can even take Laird's complete idiocy even further.

"Loot rail leghumpers and bridge replacement thugs have difficulty answering this question: since YOU scum bags won't be paying for this steaming pile of feces; since the bridge and loot rail will do NOTHING to solve congestion or safety issues; since the ONLY thing it's going to do is blow a massive $8 billion or so hole in transportation funding; since it's going to suck as much as a $100,000,000 a year out of our local economy AND since you don't want to ASK us if we want this.... how can you support it?"

Laird and his paper are a bunch of scumbags that, while attempting to to ram THEIR agenda down OUR throats by costing us tens of millions EVERY YEAR, went on their knees to their democrats masters in the legislature to get a HUGE B&O tax cut that none of the rest of us have seen... and they unleash this moron like this?

Gee. You 'spose the message here has BECOME the message?

We have a president that is a blithering idiot: Obama: Legalize illegals to get them health care

.
Sigh.

It is to our peril that the ACORN in Chief is such a complete moron.

This clown has screwed up our economy, lied about unemployment, sold out Eastern Europe, tried to get Veterans to pay for treatment of their wounds, and now, this scum bag wants to legalize the millions of illegal aliens in this country so a grateful public can waste billions on them by paying for their health care.

Man.... THAT'LL teach them. Why, if you enter this country illegally.... why.... why.... we'll FORCE you to pay in-state tuition in college AND we'll give you free health care... just like you would get if you were BORN here.

Hey, you know, if we legalize rape, then we won't have to lock up rapists! And what about burglary? Let's make THAT legal as well! AFter all, wheen we lock THOSE people up, we have to give them free health care, don't we?

My God, I am ashamed of my government.

The Poles weigh in on Obama's betrayal: "We've been sold to the Russians!"

.
As I pointed out yesterday, that empty-suited, anti-American racist bigot in the White House has sold out Eastern Europe as Putin has played him like the fish Obama is.

Well, the Poles have weighed in on their take:

Loosely translated: "We've been sold to the Russians!"

As I pointed out yesterday, Obama's sell-out of the Poles and Czechs was and is reminiscent of the very same sell-out by Neville Chamberlain that led to World War 2.

Well, it appears that the Czechs and Poles also seem to see it the same way.

Mr. President, someone far wiser than I is alleged to have uttered that those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Moron.

Thursday, September 17, 2009

On this, the 70th anniversary of the Nazi invasion of Poland, What do Neville Chamberlain and Barack Obama have in common?

.
They both sold out tens of millions of people in Eastern Europe.

Like many leftists, Obama is a coward who disdains the military. Unfortunately, he also disdains freedom for others when it's difficult to maintain, and once again, he has sold out a people who made the mistake of believing in the United States of America; an all too frequently fatal foreign policy for those stupid enough to make that mistake (See Vietnam under Nixon and Ford; Kurdistan under Bush 1, and now Eastern Europe under the sell-out in the White House.)

For those unaware of who Neville Chamberlain might be (and, I fear, that is the majority of those reading this) he was an easily manipulated, apparently quite gullible but affable idiot who, as Prime Minister of England, cheerfully sold out millions of people in Czechoslovakia (Now the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic) to Hitler so we could have "Peace in our time."

Chamberlain became synonymous with "appeasement." In fact, Chamberlain even called his knee-pad efforts with the Reich "The General Policy of Appeasement." The end result?

60,000,000 dead.

Neville Chamberlain holding the paper containing the resolution to commit to peaceful methods signed by both Hitler and himself on his return from Munich. He is showing the Anglo-German Declaration to a crowd at Heston Aerodrome on 30 September 1938. He said:

"...the settlement of the Czechoslovakian problem, which has now been achieved is, in my view, only the prelude to a larger settlement in which all Europe may find peace. This morning I had another talk with the German Chancellor, Herr Hitler, and here is the paper which bears his name upon it as well as mine (waves paper to the crowd - receiving loud cheers and "Hear Hears"). Some of you, perhaps, have already heard what it contains but I would just like to read it to you ...".

Later that day he stood outside Number 10 Downing Street and again read from the document and concluded:

'"My good friends, for the second time in our history, a British Prime Minister has returned from Germany bringing peace with honour. I believe it is peace for our time."

So, uh, Prime Minster... how'd that work out for you?

That, of course, brings us to the empty suited, anti-American racist bigot who is our president.

Utterly clueless on domestic policy in ways that made arguably the worst president in the 20th century, democrat Jimmy Carter look intelligent and visionary in comparison; his now-again confirmed incompetent foreign policy where he apparently views the increasingly imperialist Russia as just a big ol friendly bear WILL cost US blood.... much like it HAS cost us blood as the Russians play the Iranians off of us and we respond like a tarantula to a tarantula wasp.

Unfortunately, our affirmative action president apparently never heard of Hitler, Chamberlain or World War Two. Before he sets up the Russians to rule Europe again, perhaps he ought to review a few videos.... maybe read a few books... because feeding Soviet hegemony (I mean, Russian hegemony) will have the same effect.

It was bad enough that we sat on our thumbs and allowed the Russian experiment where they tested our resolve by quietly allowing them to invade an ally not so long ago; cowering in the face of the threat is rarely a suitable or appropriate strategy. Regardless of any other response from the Soviets, what they're THINKING is that they can game the punk in the White House and get anything they want, whenever they want it, because Obama apparently fails to understand that testicles have other uses besides providing sperm for children.

It is unthinkable to those with a strategic view that the United States would allow anyone to dictate our relations to any other country. The result? We have GIVEN the Russians the very thing they wanted. This PARTICULAR capitulation by this complete moron is apparently being done in the HOPE that Russia will FINALLY do something about Iranian nukes.

Of course, what that simple minded short-busser forgot is that the Soviets (I mean, Russians) are just as concerned about Iranian nukes as we are. Russia, of course, is a nation of infidels just like we are, and Muslim hatred for Russia because of, among other things, Chetsnia and Afghanistan is palpable.

So, what's happened here is that the Russians were playing chicken.... and WE blinked. So, we've apparently done this in the HOPE that by caving on this deal, the Russians MIGHT finally get around to doing what they would have to do in their OWN national interests anyway.

Brilliant.

And while Chamberlain and Obama have their policy of appeasement in common; a policy that WILL result in death and destruction has it has so many, many times before; the fact is that Obama, moronically enough, won't even have a piece of paper to wave around like that idiot Chamberlain.

What did the United States GET for this moronic cave-in?

Nothing.

Man.... doesn't that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside? Obama has sold out millions, the Russians (again) get what they want, and we, as well as the people of Eastern Europe have absolutely not one damned thing to show for it.

Clearly, this simple idiot knows as much about foreign policy as he does about health care policy. And both seem to be working equally well.

Obama's lies on the stimulus, illustrated.

.
So, was it incompetence that the empty suit couldn't figure out what even *I* already knew?

Or was it that he just didn't give a damn, and he had to pay off the unions thugs that own him as soon as possible?

The stimulus (Porkulus, Intergenerational Indebtedness Act) that he rammed down our throats so fast that no one could read it (notwithstanding our own resident moron's "yes" vote for a bill HE couldn't read, either) the porkulus accomplished absolutely nothing except to sink us into yet another trillion in debt.

This despicable clown will destroy us if he doesn't stop.

Our president's clueless idiocy: the Sykes slop.

.
By now, we've all heard about the scumbag that was doing stand-up for that empty-suited moron running our government.
.
There is no excuse for that garbage, and if the shoe had been on the other foot, the chuckling leftist classes would be howling in their hypocritical outrage.
.
It took the US Editor of a British newspaper to bring it into focus for me. And Mr. Obama, you're going to become known by the scum you surround yourself with, and that you laughed or did anything but lock that bitch's heals after her not-funny fringe-leftist diatribe just provides further confirmation of what a clueless idiot you are.
.
She disgusts me. And so do you.

Not funny: Barack Obama laughs at Wanda Sykes "joke" about wanting Rush Limbaugh dead

What was Wanda Sykes thinking? Perhaps more to the point, what was President Barack Obama thinking when he laughed and smiled as the comedienne wished Rush Limbaugh dead?

Although the Left is reporting her White House Correspondents' Dinner speech as "taking shots" at Limbaugh and mocking everyone, that's a gross misrepresentation of what turned into a hateful and disgusting diatribe.

I was at the dinner and I began by laughing at Sykes's gentle teases about the press loving Obama so much they never capture him on film smoking but often seem to get him on the beach.

It was amusing when she quipped that Obama trying so hard to be all things to all men that the next thing is he'll be seen mowing the White House lawn.

But the speech took a very ugly turn when she laid into Limbaugh.

This is what she said: "Rush Limbaugh said he hopes this administration fails, so you're saying, 'I hope America fails', you're, like, 'I dont care about people losing their homes, their jobs, our soldiers in Iraq'. He just wants the country to fail. To me, that's treason.

"He's not saying anything differently than what Osama bin Laden is saying. You know, you might want to look into this, sir, because I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker. But he was just so strung out on OxyContin he missed his flight."

She then concluded: "Rush Limbaugh, I hope the country fails, I hope his kidneys fail, how about that? He needs a good waterboarding, that's what he needs." Obama seemed to think this bit was pretty hilarious, grinning and chuckling and turning to share the "joke" with the person sitting on his right.

There's not much room for differing interpretations of what Sykes said. She called Limbaugh a terrorist and a traitor, suggested that he be tortured and wished him dead.

What was his crime? Hoping that Obama's policies - which he views as socialist - will fail.

That's way, way beyond reasoned debate or comedy and Obama's reaction to it was astonishing.

Imagine if a comedian "joked" that Obama was a terrorist who was guilty of treason and should be tortured and allowed to die. There would justifiably be an outcry.

But when the "joke" comes from a liberal, Obama-supporting comedienne and the target is a right-winger then the likes of Hilary Rosen and Donna Brazile are on CNN saying it's just comedy and Limbaugh is "fair game".

And Obama laughing when someone wishes Limbaugh dead? Hard to take from the man who promised a new era of civility and elevated debate in Washington.

Watch the video. What do you think?

"The Little Red Hen: in the Obama Era"

Who will help me plant my wheat?" said the little red hen.

"Not I," said the cow.

"Not I," said the duck.

"Not I," said the pig.

"Not I," said the goose.

"Then I will do it by myself," said the little red hen, and so she did. She planted her crop, and the wheat grew very tall and ripened into golden grain.

"Who will help me reap my wheat?" asked the little red hen.

"Not I," said the duck..

"Out of my classification," said the pig.

"I'd lose my seniority," said the cow.

"I'd lose my unemployment compensation," said the goose..

"Then I will do it by myself," said the little red hen, and so she did.

At last it came time to bake the bread.

"Who will help me bake the bread?" asked the little red hen.

"That would be overtime for me," said the cow.

"I'd lose my welfare benefits," said the duck.

"I'm a dropout and never learned how," said the pig.

"If I'm to be the only helper, that's discrimination," said the goose.

"Then I will do it by myself," said the little red hen.

She baked five loaves and held them up for all of her neighbors to see. They wanted some and, in fact, demanded a share. But the little red hen said, "No, I shall eat all five loaves."

"Excess profits!" cried the cow.
(Nancy Pelosi)

"Capitalist leech!" screamed the duck.
(Barbara Boxer)

"I demand equal rights!" yelled the goose.
(Jesse Jackson)

The pig just grunted in disdain.
(Ted Kennedy)

And they all painted 'Unfair!' picket signs and marched around and around the little red hen, shouting obscenities.

Then the farmer (Obama) came. He said to the little red hen, "You must not be so greedy."

"But I earned the bread," said the little red hen.

"Exactly," said Barack the farmer. "That is what makes our free enterprise system so wonderful. Anyone in the barnyard can earn as much as he wants. But under our modern government regulations, the productive workers must divide the fruits of their labor with those who are lazy and idle."

And they all lived happily ever after, including the little red hen, who smiled and clucked, "I am grateful, for now I truly understand."

But her neighbors became quite disappointed in her. She never again baked bread because she joined the 'party' and got her bread free. And all the Democrats smiled. 'Fairness' had been established.

Individual initiative had died, but nobody noticed; perhaps no one cared...so long as there was free bread that 'the rich' were paying for.

Then the bread stopped coming.

More reeking hypocrisy from the Pravda Columbian: In our view Feb. 18: A Freedom Regained

.
Once again, the Pravda Columbian is failing this community.

Today, they came out swinging in favor of yet another "Don't-take-responsibility-for-your-actions" bill co-sponsored by Rep. Jim Moeller that removes a part of the punishment imposed as a result of committing a felony in this state.

What this bill would do is to restore the right of a felon to vote the moment they get out of confinement.

Whoever wrote this garbage listed a wide variety of false platitudes and what they refer to as "reasons" why this practice should be done away with, apparently forgetting the "debt" part of the phrase "paying back their debt to society," as if no such debt existed.

Clearly, the blithering idiot that wrote this drivel has never been the victim of a felon; has never suffered either physically, financially or emotionally at the hands of someone who has inflicted, in some instances, unfathomable and unimaginable pain on someone else.

Had that moron actually felt the pain... had they buried a family member; seen their house burned down, lost everything in a fraud case, suffered rape or molestation at the hands of someone really not terribly concerned about any of YOUR rights... then perhaps they'd sober up and get back to reality.

Thirteen states do this? Swell. Thirty seven don't. That thirteen do is meaningless, much like the gruel in this editorial.

Our own State Supreme Court nailed it when they ruled that this right could only be regained upon completion of the entirety of a sentence, including incarceration. probation or parole, and all fines or restitution is paid. And that is as it should be.

That this paper has, once again, lost sight of the people in favor of felons who voluntarily took the actions that led to the revocation of this right is not altogether surprising. After all, while advocating the rights of felons who haven't completed their sentences to vote, THIS VERY PAPER has advocated stripping the people of Vancouver, regardless of their criminal history, of THEIR right to vote on downtown redevelopment by supporting the Taliban City Council of Vancouver's successful efforts to sue their citizenry into silence. Further, this paper has failed to advocate for OUR right to vote on the horrific, massive waste of money known as the I-5 Bridge Replacement/loot rail project.

Odd, isn't it? They waste space, ink and paper to front a worthless, harmful "reform," that will give felons a voice in their affairs, while they have actively advocated the silencing or decision to ignore the people of this county whenever it suits them.

Utter hypocrisy. But what else have we been led to believe this paper can do?

This is all-too-typical of the pile of rank, steaming hypocrisy that has done so very much for this rag's circulation.

While the paper lists what it refers to as "four fundamental reasons to change this law," they overlook and leave out the one reason that geometrically exceeds their "reasoning" in breadth, depth and scope. And that is typically the last person this disgrace to journalism concerns themselves with: the victim.

If a felon is all that "civic minded" that he or she is going to want to vote, then they will understand and agree with the idea that they must complete every aspect of their sentence, including the all-important part involving restitution.

Once that responsibility is completed... once the ENTIRETY of the debt is paid, then the automatic restoration of rights should be a given.

No one forces anyone to commit a felony. Commission of a felony amounts to a voluntary revocation of your right to determine who your elected leaders/legislators are.

The "reasons" supplied by this idiot are a crock. Lack of staff? Tough. If our elected officials can't do the job with what they have, then they should quit. That it's "hard" or "difficult" neither makes it impossible nor is it any reason to change this law.

The crap about this being a "poll tax" is pure garbage. See rule one about becoming a "felon." The fact is that while paying restitution is mandatory, the commission of the act REQUIRING the restitution is entirely voluntary. Thus, any connection to a "poll tax" is nothing but a lie, a false delusion this cretin uses to strengthen his position.

Even using the PHRASE "poll tax" is manipulative, since poll taxes were not ever applied based on criminal status.

The current felon voting law is 100% discriminatory... against felons. The skin color of the felon has no bearing on this issue. The idea of completing a sentence in every respect is required of ALL felons, REGARDLESS of color, thus, the asinine conclusion that this requirement is, in any way, discriminatory is just that: asinine.

Their is absolutely nothing "malicious" about forcing someone to do everything they can to make their victim(s) whole. While SB 5534 says something, they provide nothing to prove it... and they also overlook, because it would be so much more difficult to acknowledge, that there are a wide variety of ways to have "civic engagement" that do not include voting.

To that end, this waste of paper shows nothing to indicate that allowing felons to vote before their sentence is completed in every respect does absolutely anything to reduce recidivism. "Civic engagement" could mean practically anything. Clearly, the gang at OPR was hoping that those incapable of critical thinking, like the mental midget that wrote this column, would stupidly conclude that "voting," by itself, is the complete definition of "civil engagement."

Proving, once again, that Mr. Lincoln may not have been mistaken about fooling part of the people, all of the time.

This rag has abysmally failed to justify their worthless, harmful position. They've once again shown themselves more empathetic to felons than to the victims of felons.

Gee. What a surprise.

In our view Feb. 18: A Freedom Regained
Once you’ve done the time, you should be allowed to vote

Wednesday, February 18 1:00 a.m.

There's just something about that prison gate, isn't there? So definitive. Behind it, virtually all personal freedoms vanish, and for good reason, according to our judicial system. But back on the outside, individual empowerments mushroom, not the least of which are rejoining families and going back to work.

In 13 states, you can vote as soon as you walk back out that prison gate or jail door. (In two other states — Vermont and Maine, where incarcerated felons are allowed to vote — they never lose that right). But in Washington and about a dozen other states, the right to vote is not regained until the entire slate is wiped clean, including payment of fines and restitution. We've editorialized before that this policy is overly punitive, discriminatory and mean-spirited, evidenced by facts we'll re-examine later in this editorial.

First, though, we salute two bills in this year's Legislature — one in each chamber — that would allow Washington felons to vote once they are no longer in the custody of the state. Senate Bill 5534 has moved beyond the Committee on Government Operations & Elections, and House Bill 1517 (whose sponsors include Rep. Jim Moeller, D-Vancouver) could see action in the State Government & Tribal Affairs Committee as early as Thursday.

In 2007, the Washington Supreme Court reversed a 2004 order by the King County Superior Court that allowed such a freedom; the Supreme Court ruled by a 6-3 verdict that the right to vote could be regained only after probation or parole is completed and all fines paid. Writing in dissent, Chief Justice Gerry Alexander made this comment, which we praised in a 2007 editorial: "As a society, we should encourage, rather than discourage, felons to rehabilitate themselves. … Having set this laudable goal for felons, we should not prevent them from achieving it simply because they lack ability to pay legal financial obligations." In fact, we suspect a lot of people are far deeper in debt than released felons, and are still voting.

More garbage, if you can stomach it:

Letters from the Moron Zone: Gas prices are down — time for $1/gallon tax

.

There are idiots. There are morons. There are those so damned impressed with their so-called intellect that they feel overly compelled to share their nuggets with the entire world. And Ron Sher fits the entirety of that discription.

For reasons that only God knows, the Times felt the need to allow this utter waste of skin a soapbox from which he could rant about his economy crushing, poor people punishing nonsense about jacking up our gas tax an additional dollar.

Now, apparently, this guy manages the Bellevue Crossroads shopping center and he founded a book store. To me, that means he’s as qualified to discuss transportation policy and financing/taxation as he is to fly the Space Shuttle. But the Times let him rant anyway.

The idiocy of his position is self-evident to anyone not possessed of the King County disease.

We cannot tax ourselves into prosperity. His entire position starts with a fallacy and goes down hil from there:

Gas prices are down, so lets make life better by enacting a huge tax increase on that particular commodity.

Moral, social engineers tend to make me sick. Sher is no exception.

There is NO economic theory that he cites to support this crap, just social engineering glittering generalities and a blind trust in the same government that got us into this situation to take this money and do the right thing with it.

"Now we will need more than ever to provide for the needs of our citizens and what better way than by imposing a $1-per-gallon gas tax to raise money and encourage people to continue to make environmentally responsible choices."

Ron Sher

It's been said before, just a little differently.

"To save the village, we had to destroy it."

Popularly ascribed to a MAC-V briefing officer in Vietnam during that war.

Such an idea does nothing for "our citizens." It would be a bonanza for labor unions and government, but those Sher alleges need the benefit the most would be the ones required to pay it.

The idea that we don't pay enough for our gas, because, according to Sher, we only pay "...40 percent of the tax on gas in Europe" is the ultimate in idiocy.

What others pay in other places justifies nothing when those prices are a result of government policy as opposed to the price of the commodity.

Sher would have us begin to emulate Europe, as if that continent was Utopian. I say that if the price of Gas in Riyadh is a buck, then maybe we should follow THAT lead.

The impacts of such a huge tax would disproportionately impact our rural areas and our poorest Americans. It would dramatically increase the costs of freight and have a ripple effect across the entire spectrum... just like the $4 a gallon gas preceding our economic downturn impacted us.

How are the needs of our citizens hurting the worst met by a massive tax increase? And what kind of idiot believes that our government would voluntarily reduce its drug intake (and to this state's government, money is heroin) when we already face a $6 to 8 billion dollar deficit for this cycle?

Cheap gasoline prices are buying our economy time. It's an instant, market-based subsidy to the middle and lower economic class that has been clobbered by massive energy prices, most likely driven by market manipulation, that makes Madoff look like a fender-bender.

In fact, for purposes of revenue, cheap gasoline is just what the doctor ordered. The more gasoline the consumer buys around here, the more money government gets... because our gas taxes are based on the unit (gallon) instead of the price of gasoline itself.

So, if the price of gasoline itself were less, we would use it more... and government would realize even greater revenue.

That is not to say that we should not set a goal for energy independence at least equal to President Kennedy’s challenge to get men on the moon before the end of the 1960’s. But there is no way that such a strategy doesn't include fossil fuels and a robust economy... an economy assisted by the cheap availability of fuel.

And inflicting pain on the consumer is not the way to achieve that goal.

Mr. Sher should stick to making sure that the stripes in the parking lot are painted well enough, or whatever it is he does. He can save his social engineering efforts; and if he thinks Europe is all that because the people over there put up with government usury, then he should feel free to get on a plane and move over there.

I’m sure they’d love him.

Gas prices are down — time for $1/gallon tax

Washington state's economy is headed for the worst time since the Great Depression and our state is facing a huge deficit, notes developer Ron Sher. Now we will need more than ever to provide for the needs of our citizens and what better way than by imposing a $1-per-gallon gas tax to raise money and encourage people to continue to make environmentally responsible choices.

By Ron Sher
Special to The Times

DURING the past several months, gas prices rose dramatically to more than $4 per gallon, and then fell below $2 — even lower than before the rise. Our total cost of gas is now only 40 percent of the tax on gas in Europe. Meanwhile, our state is looking at a projected budget deficit of almost $6 billion.

A price of $2 per gallon is far too low a price for gas, especially when one includes all the costs to our society implicit in the burning of fossil fuels, such as global warming, air pollution and resource depletion. It is time for a $1 state gas tax and a state constitutional amendment to alter the limitation on how a gas tax can be spent.

When gas prices shot up briefly, we started to make adjustments. Certainly these were inconvenient, but they actually represented positive changes that we as a society will eventually have to make in the long term. We began to explore new behaviors such as carpooling, bicycling, taking the bus, eliminating trips, driving whenever there was less traffic, combining errands and even walking.

Some people bought smaller cars, others reflected on the long-term impacts of fossil-fuel use and considered moving closer to work or transit. Some asked themselves, could they live with one less or possibly no car? People began to use less fuel, which decreased both demand and price, which in turn helped our balance of payments, principally by reducing the transfer of our country's wealth to the oil-producing nations.

Higher gas prices encourage investment in alternative energy sources, green technologies, transportation infrastructure and, most important, influence us to make those lifestyle changes that lessen our demand for fossil fuels.

Bush Derangement Syndrome: taken to extremes. (Warning for language)

.
BDS typically angers me. Many of our leftist government leaders are infested with it: Pelosi, Reid, Murtha, Durbin... they've all caused American blood to be spilled by supporting the enemies of this Nation.

But this case pushes the envelope a little further. Read it... it speaks for itself. But the people I've named here have made me ashamed to have been in government. And they've done nothing to cause me to reconsider that conclusion. And many leftists have expressed these same sentiments, and we do nothing in response.

This is the effort of a moron who neatly removed himself from the gene pool (thank God) as he shot himself after he failed in his bank robbery/mass murder attempt.

Info's from Michele Malkin, who's doing a great job as always.
.
