I say "unfortunately" primarily because I anticipated his weak showing as a state representative even before he got the job.
Why I will not be supporting Brandon Vick in the 18th.
Herding cats: the 18th District House appointment process.
And then, once he got the job:
Paging Rep. Vick: why weren't you at the Town Hall meeting today?
Impressions of two town hall meetings.
Yet another reason why Rep. Brandon Vick was a bad idea.
Where was Herrera? Where was Vick?
Who the hell is J.T. Wilcox?
Another crisis and another silence from Brandon Vick
So, got a mailer from Representative Brandon Vick.
On the other end of the spectrum is someone even more clueless (If possible) by the name of Mussolini Mikey Briggs.
I've applied that name to Mikey Briggs because he is second only to Jim "My Middle Name is Hussein" Moeller in narcissism and arrogance.
Briggs, one of the M&M Twins (The other being Maureen Willingham) has precisely zero chance of being elected to dog catcher.
He's a rabid CRC Scammer, he doesn't care that the entirety of every single precinct in the 18th District rejects his views on the CRC Scam; he talks down to people as if they are sub-human and his political knowledge could occupy the head of a pin with space left over.
His biggest hobby early on was whining and bitching and moaning because neither Sen. Ann Rivers nor Rep. Liz Pike would ignore their constituency and bend their district (And the rest of the county) over on the CRC Scam. Like the spoiled punk he is, there was no shutting him up because he was so pissed that they weren't doing what HE wanted while ignoring the overwhelming percentage of their constituency by doing what THEY wanted.
In short, Mussolini is delusional, ignorant, a martinet and he will be as embarrassed in the next election as David Shehorn... and that guy was pathetic.
That leaves today's entry, John Ley.
I don't know much about him but he has to be an improvement over Vick.
I've met him a few times in the past and he has been outgoing, approachable and personable.
His conservative cred seems bullet proof, and I'm sure that when elected, he won't mail it in.... unlike some.
Time will tell, of course, but Vick is in serious difficulty here. Since Mussolini will be a non-factor, Vick's number one target has to be Ley. But Ley has the advantage since Vick has been doing the bare minimum ever since he got the job, and pointing that out to the voters who hunger for leadership, vision and action shouldn't be that much of a chore.

I've met John Ley a few times now and like him. Seems to be pretty squared away.
