First of all, my advice is just the opposite of what it used to be:
Too stupid? Too lazy? Too ignorant? Too uneducated? Too partisan?
Then by all means, contrary to the rag's position...
Don't vote.
That's right... just shred your ballot.
The reasons listed above, in varying degrees, resulted in that neo-communist in the White House. Imagine how much better off we'd be if those trading their freedom for "stuff" had just passed.
The obvious irony of the democratian writing something like: “democracy depends on voters educating themselves on issues” after their efforts of censorship, lies, exaggeration and repeatedly insulting and belittling those wise enough to oppose them is just that: obvious.
Imagine how much more useful our local newspaper would be if only it were an accurate, unbiased source of that very information that the newspaper now demands we somehow get for ourselves… Without their help.
I for, one, am a great deal more content with the idea that those who don’t know, those who don’t care, those who are on drugs, those locked up in our prisons, those here illegally and those who are takers simply don’t have enough interest in voting in this day and age.
Certainly there is strength in numbers, but a how about those numbers of people who vote and are completely ignorant? Are they doing the country, or even this community, a favor by voting? Or are they doing us more harm… You know… not unlike the CRC scam that the democratian supports?
Yes, that’s the irony. A newspaper full of lies, demanding that we “educate (our) selves on issues” and then go out and vote.
I could say the same about this newspaper: I wish they just go out and educate themselves on the issues before they allow their fingers to hit a keyboard.
It looks like both the newspaper and I… are once again going to be disappointed. And taking it a step further, it wasn’t all that long ago that this very newspaper trashed the idea of the people’s voice with their idiotic editorials of both a year ago (Jeers for Advisory Votes) and most recently of October 9, "Vote no on all mass transit votes.".
Yet when it’s an issue they support, such as limiting fireworks sales and use, what do they tell us to do?
Vote yes.
That’s the kind of rank hypocrisy this rag is known for.
The editorial goes on to quote Teddy Roosevelt: “a vote is like a rifle; its usefulness depends upon the character of the user.”
That’s right, of course… as far as it goes. Though much the same thing can be said about a newspaper.
“A newspaper is like a rifle; its usefulness depends upon the character of the writers.”
Far too often the editorial leadership and the writers of this newspaper have shown that they are not possessed of the very concept of character they seem to demand, situationally, of others. So one does find it odd that they would either refer to this quote or demand that others act in a way where their character is tested by voting.
If only they would take their own advice about how they run and what they print in this cancer on our society.
"You will never be the best version of yourself if you allow other people to convince you, that you can't be better because of your skin color, because of your sexual identity, because of the community you came from... you must resist those narratives at all costs if you truly want to be successful in America." - Charley Kirk

The irony of Rice and Hidle writing about a depressed turnout that they help create.
There’s a peculiar irony to someone like stuffed pony rice writing an article called "Tuesday’s election may have a full ballot, but willturn out be tepid?”
Calling turnout for the selection tepid is the understatement of the year, not unlike referring to rice as “dishonest” or “biased.” Those are quite accurate labels, but somehow they don’t do the totality of work for justice that it deserves.
Yes, I’m voting, so is my wife. My daughter, who is 20, probably isn’t voting, and I’m fine with that. That’s her choice. Just like it’s the choice of everybody else who doesn’t exercise their franchise to vote. And in fact, not voting kind of does represent a vote… Does it not?
Out here in the hinterland… The part of the county that the downtown leftists are so terrified of… Nobody wants to hear from us anyway. Further, there just aren’t that many candidates for us to vote for; although I am particularly interested in getting rid of Ron Arp, who somehow managed to wrangle his way in his chair of our local school board.
The irony of this article is that few people have done more to disgust the voters of Clark County, individually than those working at the democratian.
A newspaper of lies, exaggerations, a bully pulpit to just beat the hell out of whoever is in the way of your agenda. Thank God the Pit Yorkie, John Laird, is gone: he was a peculiar practitioner of it, which flew in the face of lefty Lou Brancaccio’s fake pleas for civility, pleas that he himself never abides by with his jihad against David Madore, Tom Mielke, and damn near anybody opposed to the CRC scam that he’s invested so much time, effort, energy, and prestige to ram down our collective throats.
But then. there's Stephony Rice and her sidekick, Eric what’s his face. I personally believe, that the idea of formalizing their ability to sprout their leftist bull shit in what this ragt calls a "blog" to give them cover flies in the face of journalistic tenants. Furthermore, when they do take such actions, the idea that they don’t have to be accurate, or they not working for somebody with a hidden agenda, and that they use their position to just beat the hell out of political opponents, is one of the major disgraces that this newspaper takes part in every damn day.
So for these two morons to write an article about a depressed turnout that they, in large part, are responsible for?
Yeah… There’s just a little bit of irony there.
Hinton: Maybe Jayne should stick to sports: Is the democratian’s political ignorance an act… or deliberate?
As the democratian does yet another in the series of the Downtown Mafia’s campaign pieces, the question I asked myself in response to Jayne’s (“CRC, ‘Madore 4’: What matters in Vancouver election?”) was this:
How come you don’t already know the answer, and why are you taking this opportunity to shill the Downtown Mafia/BackwardsVancouver meme?
Please don’t tell me that you can’t figure out the difference between contrived bullshit like your newspaper’s/BackwardsVancouver’s/Downtown Mafia’s campaign of deflection/ demonization garbage of the so-called “Madore 4” and the reality of the massive rape of this county so strongly advocated by Lefty Lou and his ilk in the form of the CRC?
Of course you can. The “Madore 4” crap is a non-issue except to the extent that you further it… a campaign scam built by the desperate scum who can’t run on the issues… and cheerfully/willingly made a part of the democratian’s leftist/CRC campaign efforts.
For example, when Jayne calls those running opposed to the CRC Scam “single issue candidates,” that, of course, is the kind of insidious lie that this rag is known for.
But it’s also part of the Pro-CRC Scam and the set up for next year’s election. Expect to see it again… in this newspaper… repeatedly.
Here’s the thing, Greg: the CRC Scam is the biggest issue this county has ever confronted on its own. It’s the biggest betrayal of the people we have ever known at the local level… a local version of Obamacare in its impacts, lies, exaggerations, ignorance and corruption.
Jayne writes
One has to wonder: is Jayne too much of an idiot to see beyond the CRC Scam to the multiple, obvious answers to his concerns?
At some point, additional bridges will be built. Portland and Oregon will just have to get over it, it’s GOING to happen. That will increase “vibrancy.”
You want “engagement?” Then set up a business climate in Vancouver that will draw MEANINGFUL business to that community.
The problem is that with the corruption of Vancouver putting Chicago to shame, who the hell would want to move here? And when PEOPLE move here… are they moving into Vancouver, or out of Vancouver?
Calling the CRC a “single issue” makes as much sense as calling the Constitution a “single issue.”
Referring to it that way just sets it up for the downtown mafia, who want to be able to use that label on those wise enough to oppose them.
The CRC is the 8 million pound gorilla in Clark County’s living room.
It’s the issues attendant to the CRC Scam that makes it that thing that sucks all of the oxygen out of the room. And those MULTIPLE ISSUES are not, in any way, a “single issue.”
It’s the issue of the fact that building it will accomplish nothing in terms of moving people. It will waste billions, enrich a few special interests, and damage this county for generations to come.
It’s the issue of the corruption, the lies, the exaggerations; the attacks by the scammers on those who oppose this rip off since they demand “unquestioning obedience” to their dictates… and who the hell are they to dictate to us?
It’s the issue of the economic impacts of closing downtown Vancouver down for 7 years… not that it’s worth going to now, anyway…
It’s the issues of the hit on small business here for the 40 years plus of ever-increasing tolls as it vacuums up a lot of the disposable income of the 65,000 commuting families… that issue that no one on the pro-side… or this cancerous wart on our community of a newspaper, ever want to study or discuss.
In short, the CRC is but a label for geometric multiples of issues… yet Jayne belittles those who oppose it as “single issue” candidates, and presumably those opposed to that scam who are not candidates as “single issue voters.”
So, I’ve got to wonder: is that just more of the democratian’s institutional stupidity and ignorance? Is it because Jayne, perhaps, played too much football without a helmet?
He closes with this:
Godzilla has come to Clark County generally and Vancouver specifically, and he's busying himself by being concerned over the design of the parking tickets.
What he’s talking about now is the equivalent of discussing the china patterns on the plates in 2nd Class on the Titanic after it brushed up against that ice cube.
Whatever we have to talk about after this is buried will have nowhere near the impacts or throw weight of this massive, generational-long crime.
And that reinforces my wonder: Is Jayne just PLAYING stupid… or what?

Jayne writes
Yet while the CRC and light rail and the prospect of tolls over a new bridge have dominated political discussion on this side of the river for a decade or so, I am leery of those who are single-issue voters. The fact is that Vancouver is growing and will continue to grow, and with that growth comes questions of how to keep the area vibrant and engaging. There’s a lot more that goes into that than the single issue of a new bridge, which might be a back-to-the-drawing-board proposition nearly as soon as the election is over.I have to admit I believe he’s being dishonest here. Turning Vancouver into a northern bridge abutment for Portland doesn’t equate to vibrancy. In fact, considering the economic damage the CRC Scam would cause... exactly how does that equate to "vibrancy" OR "engaging?"
One has to wonder: is Jayne too much of an idiot to see beyond the CRC Scam to the multiple, obvious answers to his concerns?

He closes with this:
Political ads on both sides of the Vancouver races have focused on the bridge and its ancillary issues. Those are important, but they won’t entirely define the city for the future. If the CRC is, in fact, dead … then what will we talk about? Why? Why would he even ask?

Steve "Slimeball" Stuart reconfirms his unsuitability for elective office.
As documented on this blog repeatedly, Steve Stuart has shown himself to be absolutely unsuitable for elective office.
Here's just another indicator of that:
I give Robert props for even attempting to communicate with this dictatorial type who doesn't give a damn about what the people say any more than his butt-buddy Leave-it.
I rarely do, since I know it would be an utter waste of ASCII and time. I did let him know after he threw this community under a bus that I was not going to rest until I had done everything I legally could to make sure he lost next year.
But I thought I'd take a shot at it:
That Stuart would even ask such a question goes to the heart of his mentality: He saw the opportunity to "Columbian" Robert, by holding him up like a piƱata so his buddies can take turns whacking him like a stick.
Shades of Lefty Lou.
First: if you're going to unfriend someone... just fricking do it.
Second, do you have to be a punk about EVERYTHING?

How I resolved my XDs Springfield Arms problem: Sold it and bought a Taurus 24/7 GC Compact .45
Readers know how disappointed I was with the absolutely screwed-up recall that Springfield Arms just ran on the XDs .45 compact.
Here's how I resolved the situation:
I picked this up today moments after I dumped my unfired Springfield Arms XDs .45, for exactly one dollar more than I paid for it.
The Taurus's advantages:
11 and 13 round magazine (XDs 2X6 mags came with the XDs) $444 new at Brightwater ($599 for the XDs @ Cabela in Lacey.)
Anyway, my long, tortuous time waiting to get my .45 back from SA ended: I took the money from that and picked up this, instead... which oddly has the precise same footprint, size-wise as a Walther PK380. I mean, exactly. The Taurus is a little wider over all, and a little heavier, but that's to be expected.
They went their way... and I went mine.
