In my view: By ignoring the State Supreme Court, the Lawmakers ARE "doing their job."

In the rag's essentially weekly demand that the legislature raise taxes... on everyone but newspapers, of course... they again show an ignorance about how the law works, how legislation works and what the actual power... or lack thereof... of courts actually are.

Imagine these same morons a few years ago.

In fact, it's, say, 1857.  The Supreme Court of the United States has just announced a decision on a small case that you might have heard of: Dred Scott et al v. Sandford.

People generally, particularly in the northern parts of the United States, were appalled by these results... wherein:
Scott claimed that he and his wife should be granted their freedom because they had lived in Illinois and the Wisconsin Territory for four years, where slavery was illegal. The United States Supreme Court decided 7–2 against Scott, finding that neither he nor any other person of African ancestry could claim citizenship in the United States, and therefore Scott could not bring suit in federal court under diversity of citizenship rules. Moreover, Scott's temporary residence outside Missouri did not bring about his emancipation under the Missouri Compromise, which the court ruled unconstitutional as it would "improperly deprive Scott's owner of his legal property."
An editorial demanding that local sheriffs round up freed slaves and return them to their owners. I mean, after all, the Supreme Court has spoken, right?

First, merely because a Court makes a decision by no means makes that decision correct.

Secondly, as I have stated repeatedly on this blog, the Supreme Court has zero authority, power or ability to force the legislature to do anything... including to willingly fork over their budget and revenue authority to Nine Dwarfs from Puget Sound.

Now, of course, the Democratian displays their lack of knowledge of what representative government is and how it works by demanding that the "legislature do it's job."

Which, of course, by ignoring the court is absolutely what they ARE doing.

You see, the local version of the Soviet Communist daily newspaper, Izvestia Pravda Columbian, has zero problem with the legislature when it's doing what THEY want them to do, because the fringe-left brain trust running that show has proven, repeatedly, that they simply don't give a damn about what the people want when what the people want conflicts with their agenda.

The rag, entirely leftist, friend of expansionist government and higher taxes for everything... as long as those taxes don't apply to THEM, you understand... has joined with the Court's illegal and unsustainable demands to waste billions more of our tax dollars on a failing, inept, incompetent and unresponsive education plant to enrich their fellow leftists.

I have REPEATEDLY stated that the way to get rid of the Court in this issue is to actually have the legislature do the following, in any order:

1.  Pull up your big girl panties and legislatively define what the phrase "paramount duty" actually means.
I don't, for one second, believe it means that, oh yeah, any court anywhere that disagrees with the current legislative interpretation can subsequently order the legislature of this or any other state to act as a result... any more than the legislature can order the Court to adjudicate certain outcomes.

Nor does the phrase "paramount duty" mean that the legislature must meet some entirely arbitrary standard imposed on it by a bunch of out-of-touch leftists who have accepted money from the WEA and other leftist outfits who demand the Court do what they are doing: attempt to extort the legislature and through them, us taxpayers, into forking over additional billions even though there is zero proof of any kind that the problem with our educational outcomes is money.

And educational outcomes should be the only concern of government.

The ambiguity of the phrase "paramount duty" is part and parcel of this idiocy.`  Take it away from them by telling THEM

"Conflict of interest," anyone?
2.  Cut the Supreme Court's budget, reducing their number from it's current nine.
Nine justices are not needed.  California, a state with over 5 times our population seems to muddle through with 7. We, then, are wasting millions on unneeded justices that typically vote in lock step with their fringe-left, law-as-politics decisions.  I understand that the state constitution calls for five justices, and these clowns are all about what THEY think it says... when THEY want it to say it.
3.  Ignore them.
Send them a nice letter on legislative letterhead saying, in effect, hey.. you know what?

We appreciate your input.  Thanks for telling us what you think.

But in reality, we both know that such is all it is: what you THINK, and since you have no control over us in any way, we're going to treat your opinion as such, because we are not ABOUT to abrogate legislative authority to you.

Thanks for playing.
You see, to that end, the Legislature's inaction DOES represent us and IS "doing their job."

That's why it's called "representative government."  NOT "judicial government."

Ultimately, the final arbiter of how the legislature is doing on this or any other issue isn't the state Supreme Court.

It's the voter.  And I have yet to see anyone around here... even Ann "Gas Tax" Rivers... run on a platform of jacking up our taxes by billions to pay for a Supreme Court fantasy.

But then, Gas Tax never let us in on her plan to screw us last time on the gas tax and tab fee increases, either... so guess what?

Meanwhile, it's not surprising that the Democratian doesn't get it.  Or, perhaps, and more likely, they DO get it... but hell, we all know this cancer on our local community isn't above the odd lie every now and then, is it?

Today's irony post: RINO's whining over Clark County GOP expenditures, silent over fellow RINOs breaking PDC law

Yes, there's a special kind of hypocrisy developing among the left: sniveling over the catastrophic "vote for the RINO" losses at the polls, RINO-in-Chief Brent Boger posted this beauty:

So... where's Boger on the pending PDC complaints against Sen. Ann "Gas Tax" Rivers?

Doesn't seem to matter to him that she overstated her campaign account by over $175,000 for more than a year... and he certainly has no questions about HER campaign expenditures.

Why is he silent on Marc Boldt appearing to steal $5000 from his 2012 campaign account?

What's that?

No where?

Hypocrite much, Brent?

Sigh.

Well, I guess when Ann Rivers is your big buddy and you put all of your efforts behind Boldt, holding them to the same standard you hold everyone else is just too much to ask for... eh?

Look: I know you and your fellow leftists expected to better against conservatives than you did; after all, you spent a lot of time assassinating character and all, with your moronic "Madore" list.  But you can't always get what you want.

Meanwhile, you need to treat everyone the same.  And until you do... why, you're a buffoon.

Gee. People are just NOW figuring this out?

Why I am done with the Seahawks.

Seattle's own version of professional athlete, attention grabbing, whining Kaeperpick wannabe is a fellow named Jeremy Lane.

Lane, having, apparently, previously failed to developed an original thought of note in his own head for the entirety of his life, made the moronic decision to become a Kaeperpick wanna be; and he, too, is going to sit on his dumb ass during our National Anthem... and neither the Seahawks nor the NFL are going to do a damned ting about it.

Well, as much as I love football... and as much as I'm a huge Seahawks fan, being from Seattle and having attended one of their very first games... against the Raiders... in the Kingdome... I will have nothing to do with them as long as Lane sits.

The failure of the Seahawks to discipline this clown for whizzing on this country every week is inexplicable.

Yeah, yeah... I've heard all the garbage about his nonexistent "rights."

He, in fact, DOES have rights.  But they don't apply here, and Seattle's acquiescence to this moron along with the NFL's failure to step in and REQUIRE these people to show respect for the country that has made many of them multi-millionaires, including Lane, who is also a multi-millionaire (He just signed a 4 year extention for $23 million with $11 million guaranteed) have made it abundantly clear that they are not interested in my commitment to that team, my money to attend their games or watch them on DirecTV, or the purchase of their merchandise for the outrageous amounts of money they charge.

Seahawks' Lane says he will continue to sit for anthem

The Associated Press 6h ago
Kyle Terada / USA TODAY Sports

RENTON, Wash. - Seattle Seahawks defensive back Jeremy Lane said Monday he will continue to sit for the national anthem when the regular season begins Sunday at home against the Miami Dolphins.

After sitting during the anthem in the Seahawks' final preseason game last Thursday, Lane said San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick thanked him for his support and his matching gesture.

''He reached out to me and just told me thank you for standing behind him,'' Lane said.

While Kaepernick and 49ers teammate Eric Reid amended their protest to taking a knee instead of remaining seated for the anthem, Lane said he intends to keep sitting.

Lane said he hasn't noticed much in terms of negative response for the decision and that he feels he has support of the team and his teammates in expressing his stance. He spoke with Seattle coach Pete Carroll after his initial gesture in Oakland and Carroll's advice was ''just be smart.''

Lane said he hasn't received indication if any teammates will join in his action.

''I don't know. I don't want to put no pressure on no one,'' Lane said. ''I'm doing it for me.''

Lane is in his fifth season with the Seahawks and signed a four-year contract extension to remain with Seattle in the offseason. While his answers were brief on Monday, teammate Michael Bennett was more expansive when asked about Lane's decision.

''I think it's his right to be able to protest, and I think it's all right. There's definitely some issues in America that a lot of people are starting to recognize,'' Bennett said. ''I think people have recognized them before, but I think with social media and the things that are going out, the media outlets, everybody has a chance to really show what is going on and their ideas and really having a chance to really protest what they think is wrong with America. And that's OK.

''That's what it's about. It's about people having that right to have their voice, and I think it's cool that Jeremy Lane is doing what he wants to do.''

While Kaepernick says he intends to donate $1 million ''to different organizations to help these communities and help these people,'' Lane - who makes significantly less than Kaepernick - said he has not made a decision on any financial support.

''I haven't thought about that,'' Lane said. ''Not saying I won't but I haven't thought about it.''
I guess it's far easier to be "oppressed" as a minority millionaire then it is for us struggling middle class types.

I acknowledge that he does have "rights."  But not on this issue.

His "rights" to protest anything end the moment he bolts on that uniform to play a fricking game.

It's true for him; it's true for me; it's true for a burger flipper at McDonalds, it's true for cops, it's true for members of the Armed Forces of the United States.

In fact, it's true for just about anyone working in this country today: you have zero right to protest anything while you are wearing the uniform of your employer.

I don't give a damn who you think you are, but I know who *I* am: the guy paying your salary.  And your juvenile behavior merely serves to harden any stance I may have on any particular subject because when it comes right down to it, the LAST person who is some sort of expert on "oppression" is a 25 year old jock who knows as much about society, about sacrifice, about the cost of our freedoms while he... and Kaeperpick for that matter... haven't done squat about any of it except to flap their pie holes on a subject they know nothing about.... as they know about performing brain surgery on a tyrannosaurus rex.

There is nothing in his contract that gives him the right to protest anything.

That the same organization that denied the Cowboy's request to wear small helmet stickers honoring the 5 dead police officers of the Dallas massacre a few months back refuses to act against those who use the pedestal provided to them by the NFL to trash an entire country is inexplicable.

My opposition to these clowns and to the team management and the league isn't.  And I will not put up with it.

I am done with the Seahawks in any way as long as Lane plays the role of an asshole.

I turn my back on him and his organization precisely a much as HE is turning HIS back on ME.

Jayne: please step away from the bong, pre-editorial. Thanks.

Ahhhhh, Democratian revisionist history.

You simply can't beat it.

As per usual, they were sniveling again this morning (Sunday).

Someone sent me Greg Jayne's column about the waste of yet another effort to replace a Bridge that doesn't need to BE replaced....  not that Jayne felt that way; if he did, he'd be fired in 60 seconds by Lyin' Lefty Lou.

Ohhhh, no.

Instead, he was continuing the Democratan/Leftist/Downtown Mafia lie that replacing the I-5 Bridge will solve absolutely every problem known to man.

Utter and complete nonsense now as it's been since the fraud this despicable rag has been attempting to perpetrate for so long began.

The irony of Jayne's column is the issue of our lack of "trust" in the authority who tells us how important it is for the I-5 Bridge to be replaced.

Th irony of his column title obviously escaped him:
Jayne: Trust that transportation projects need upfront truth
NO group or publication was a responsible for the decade of lies as the worthless rag he's working for now.

He even ADMITS that we're GOING to be lied to by that same authority we should now trust:
The Times’ Mike Lindblom reported recently that part of Seattle’s light-rail system — the portion that was approved by voters in 1996 — is going to come in with cost overruns of about 86 percent. This is not atypical. As the article also noted, “A traditional view of megaprojects, dating to mid-20th century highway builder Robert Moses of New York, is that sponsors manipulate figures and indulge boosters’ optimism to win political consent. After that, it’s difficult to kill a project. Dig a hole and commit.”

That routinely drags taxpayers into Big Bertha-sized hole. A forthcoming doctoral dissertation by Carole Turley Voulgaris at UCLA concludes that 82 percent of federally funded transit projects in the United States from 1982-2011 came in over budget — by an average of 43 percent. Experts in the field attribute this to “strategic misrepresentation” in the initial proposal; most of us attribute it to “lying.”
"Us?"

Greggy, don't confuse yourself with "us."

As long as you work for Propaganda Minister Lou Goebbel's Völkischer Beobachter, you AIN'T us.... your are most DEFINITELY them.

You see, you were laboring doing sports scores or whatever, while that very rag you work for was embarked on it's campaign of lies, exaggeration, and character assassination.

Much of the division around here and distrust of the downtown mafia/Brancaccio scum is based on the rag you work for.

You write tripe like:
In the interest of full disclosure, it should be mentioned that I used to subscribe to this philosophy; but then I got better. Because government is not inherently bad. Government is not even really “government,” at least not in the way some people think of it. Government is simply all of us, and there are inherent benefits to us providing a social safety net or promoting public health or organizing schools.
Not around here it ain't.  The moment government ignores those they would govern, they CEASE being "us."  The moment government ignores those they would govern they, in fact, DO become "inherently bad."

Venezuelan bad.

And the moment anyone, anywhere, becomes a shill for "government" when that government uses us, abuses us, ignores us, belittles us, and attacks us?

They've long since stopped BEING us.

Jayne, of course, whines about the issue of sitting in traffic:
Personally, I believe we need a new bridge; I believe that because I probably could write this entire column in my car if I were waiting to cross the bridge into Oregon right now. Being a responsible driver, I shall not attempt to do so.
The bridge, of course, is only on the replacement agenda for purposes of stuffing loot rail down our throats.  And if you DIDN'T "believe we needed a new bridge," you career span at the Democratian would be snuffed out like a candle and you know it.  So, in effect, you believe what you're told to believe.  You'd have been a dandy little German soldier during the last war.

Had the CRC scam gone forward, he'd STILL would have been sitting in traffic on the occasions when bridge traffic is jammed (Since it would take several more years to replace) and, if the bridge HAD been replaced, he'd STILL be sitting on the bridge as he would have been in his fantasy "write this column while stuck on the bridge" article... since replacing the bridge would, according to the CRC Scammer's own web site, the southbound commute time would be decreased by about 56 seconds.

He just would have had the additional thrill of paying around $8 for the privilege.

Less than one minute.

My guess?  While Greggy's columns are, essentially, worthless, they typically DO take a bit longer than 56 seconds to write.

"Dissent," Greggy tell us, "is understandable."

Well, when so many of us WERE "dissenting," his rag and that scumbag he's working for now damned sure didn't seem to understand it.  And Johnny "Cockroach" Laird?

That clown beat on the dissent like a gong, all while that moron Brancaccio was calling for "civility."

(Odd that Lying Lefty Lou forgot all ABOUT "civility" during his many years of Madore/C3G2/RINO jihad.  But then, "hypocrite" doesn't begin to scratch the surface.)

His rag abused us, attacked us, engaged in character assassination of us, worked hard to squelch any other option, idea or plan and even after it was clearly exposed by the efforts of hard working people interested in the truth that the CRC Scammers were ignoring us by POLICY, these clowns at the lazy C wanted us to forget ALL about that, and STILL support this insanity.

When given the opportunity to express our opinion at the polls, this rag insisted we should boycott the election, ignore it altogether because the LAST thing they wanted was to be proven liars when it came to their warped view of community support for this insanity.

EVERY effort at compromise on loot rail was shot down: Who can forget Kitzhaber's infamous "no loot rail, no bridge, no way" crap?

ANY bridge project or any other government project will have cost overruns because that same government... that same "us" that's SUPPOSED to be working for "us" allows these scum to lie to get the project and then does nothing to hold them accountable when their obvious lies are discovered.

See, for example, the most recent and most obvious example, the Pot Initiative where the scum behind it promise $580 million+ ER YEAR in pot tax revenue to the state alone... another lie... and not only were they NOT held accountable, a grateful GOP-lead/Gas Tax Rivers championed legislature cut their promised tax burden in half.

IN HALF.  Are you fricking KIDDING me?

And Jayne, in his capacity as advocate for the special interests, works for a rag that holds NO ONE accountable for their abuse of the electorate when that abuse takes place as part of their desired agenda.

Cost overruns can be easily solved:  Hold those who own/run those companies personally liable, to include waiving bankruptcy, for any such overruns.

Force them, on their own, to be personally bonded for the costs of any project.

Then, when those overruns take place, THEY have to pick up the tab for them, and not us.

And Greggy, you want us to trust government?

Let's see you start demanding that we, who will have to pay YOUR bills.... get the final say.

Pigs will fly before that ever happens, of course.  Because in the end, like that slimeball you work for, you really could care less WHAT we want OR think.
