The stupidity of the City of Vancouver never ceases to amaze: Prosecuting on the slam-dunk open carry case.

Since I became an area resident some 22 years ago, Vancouver has never stopped being the focus of amazement and derision.

They've managed to be stuck on stupid in so many instances; from electing Tim "The Liar" Leavitt to their biggest hobby; passing out hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal settlements and fees.

So now, to join with that ever lengthening list, we have the case of one Kurk Kirby, who, in the midst of exercising his 2nd Amendment and open-carry rights, was moronically ticketed by a Vancouver police officer for carrying a .45 in plain sight.

As a Combat Commander owner myself, I have an affinity for the weapon. But that is neither here nor there.

The agreed on facts of the matter seem to be that he did nothing with the weapon in question, save to carry it. And for that, he was cited.

Enjoy, and shake your head in amazement as the City has managed to set itself up for yet another spurt of large amounts of cash into an individual's pockets.

The local GOP coalesced around a guy who endorsed and supported the Cancer of the United States in the White House, and who, among others, had the Clark County DEMOCRAT Chair along with a DEMOCRAT county commissioner (Steve Stuart - also wholly owned by David Barnett) and a DEMOCRAT former Clark County Commissioner (Betty Sue Morris) along with a DEMOCRAT campaign manager (from other campaigns, Heather Melton) all working on his campaign.

To the morons in the local GOP, I say "brilliant."

They coalesced around a liar who entirely made up a bogus issue about tolls, hoping to jump on Tom Mielke's coat tails about his GENUINE desire to kill this massive waste of money in favor of a 3rd bridge... without taking any kind of stand at all, since this slimeball will CONTINUE to support another bridge even WHEN tolls are required.... all the while, standing there and telling the stupid that at least he TRIED to get a bridge without tolls.... even though he lacks the testicles to OPPOSE the bridge when tolls are mandated.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the local GOP rallied around a scumbag who played them like the tools they are. The right wing fringe worked very hard to elect this leftist liar, and unlike the NY 23, they got it done.

I'll be around to remind those morons about their stupidity on a frequent basis.

Still stinging from Senator Don Benton's surprising endorsement of Mayor Pollard, Tim "The Liar" Leavitt has, apparently, decided to get people to believe that both Marc Boldt (who used to be a Republican... but who now only God knows what his political affiliation is) and Dino Rossi (Who also used to be a Republican) have just now come out to endorse "The Liar."

This is yet another in a series of scams, as both Boldt and Rossi had endorsed Leavitt from essentially the beginning of his campaign. But then, given his history, Leavitt seems to think of himself as the master manipulator.

As Ryan Hart, County GOP Chair related, The Liar introduced Rossi at a late campaign stop in 2008... the same campaign where The Liar had been an early endorser of the stain on America's history known as Barack Obama. So, to me, this isn't so much about who The liar is and what he supports, as it is who Dino Rossi is and who and what HE supports.

What I've got to wonder, though, is this:

Is it politically smart to constantly remind perhaps the most democrat area in Southwest Washington that you're endorsed by two alleged Republicans?

But who knows? What my instincts tell me is that The Liar is in serious trouble, if not having managed to lose an election that he should have won going away.

Now he seems to be making additional lapses in judgment by reminding everyone in Vancouver, including the democrats who loath them, that Boldt and Rossi support The Liar as well.

That makes as much senses as The Liar reminding the GOP that he endorsed Obama.

Good luck with that, Liar.

Tim "The Liar" Leavitt CONTINUES to lie: Claims "75% chance bridge will not have tolls."

You would have thought by now that Tim "The Liar" Leavitt would have learned his lesson.

According to Lou Brancaccio, this represents The Liar's position on tolls:

"Then there's my buddy, Tim Leavitt. He's running for Vancouver mayor. And he's trying like heck to separate himself from Mayor Royce Pollard. They've been hanging their hat in the same place — the Vancouver City Council — for several years now, so they're a lot like Cheech & Chong. Same ol', same ol'.

Tim realizes he had to find a difference, so he picks the new I-5 bridge. Now, both these guys appreciate the need for a new bridge. And both would accept tolls. But Royce says the tolls are inevitable. Tim says, "Not so fast, my friend." Tim feels some magic could be worked and the bridge could be built without tolls.

In fact, he said he feels there's a 75 percent chance of it."

You see, this is the lying scumbag we've all come to know and despise.

The Liar has a better chance of winning Mega Millions then he does to get a bridge in here without tolls.

What the ENTIRE WORLD KNOWS is that tolls DON'T MATTER to Tim "The Liar" Leavitt, because WITH OT WITHOUT TOLLS, THIS LITTLE WEASEL IS GOING TO SUPPORT A BRIDGE ANYWAY.

Obviously, Leavitt is clinging to his calculation that if he just keeps lying about tolls, he'll get enough suckers on board to become mayor.

The problem is that in his massive arrogance, this scumbag truly believes we're stupid.

NO ONE ELSE IN GOVERNMENT ANYWHERE HAS EVER SAID THIS STEAMING CRAP PILE CAN BE BUILT WITHOUT TOLLS.

NO ONE.

In fact, EVERYONE ELSE IN GOVERNMENT HAS SAID JUST THE OPPOSITE: IF THIS THING IS BUILT, TOLLS WILL BE REQUIRED TO BUILD IT.

And taking it a step further, The Liar has already said that even WITH tolls, HE WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT BUILDING THIS BRIDGE AND LOOT RAIL.

My God, this man is a lying little weasel. He's pathological.

He's lying. He KNOWS he's lying. He's aware that anyone actually paying attention to what he says KNOWS he's lying. He doesn't CARE that he's lying. BECAUSE HE WILL DO AND SAY ANYTHING TO GET ELECTED.

It's bad enough that a rank hypocrite like Tim "The non-voting Liar" Leavitt wants YOU to vote for HIM. But to continue to lie like this in the face of common sense is to insist the world is flat, or that Obama has a clue. (Yeah, I know it's the same Obama Leavitt endorsed, but this guy can't use toilet paper without trying to get some sort of political advantage out of it, so what can you do?)

So, it's up to you, Vancouver. You can vote for this lying scumbag who rarely voted himself... due to his contempt for the gift provided to us all by the sacrifices of tens of thousands who died to insure we have the franchise... or you can vote for a guy you may disagree with, but who is at least honest and honorable.

Otherwise, you're going to get tolls anyway, along with a whiny, snivelly mayor that played you like he did the hispanics, who blathers: "We'll, at least I tried," when he knew all along that tolls were the ONLY way to get this done, but had to lie about it like Sam Adams lied about having sex with that teenager.

I've had a couple of concerns over Tim Leavitt's use of the race card as a campaign tactic; as blatant and underhanded approach to electioneering as I've ever seen... in fact, I've seen nothing like it since David Barnett bought Steve Stuart for a cool $100G.

Of course, this is why Leavitt pulled this hate crime stunt, to suck the politically naive into believing they are anything but tools for his election... much like the far left was used, and then kicked to the curb as Obama scammed them into supporting him, and then proceeded to forget they existed.

Well, local hispanics, apparently lacking in any particular degree of political sophistication, have bit, and bit hard. Little do they know that Leavitt has manipulated them into this public embarrassment.

As a result, Leavitt has nailed down the illegal alien vote with a sledgehammer.

But then, I'm just a cynic. What do I know?

Not much, except this: this endorsement is an embarrassment, and it will do absolutely nothing to help Leavitt get elected.

And as his campaign roles on, that's certainly a good thing.

A few days ago, I nailed Tim Leavitt for his rank political opportunism as he attempts to capaitalize on a situation that has nothing to do with him personally: the indefensible scam of so-called hate crimes.

As I stated earlier:

But other crimes should be?

This leftist pap is just that. Further, Leavitt's "draft resolution" accomplishes ABSOLUTELY NOTHING except to provide this guy with an opportunity to politically grand stand.

"Hate" crimes are a sickening concept that somehow makes an assault based on skin color or gender or sexual proclivity or any of the many, many other segments we've been divided into, more worthy of greater punishment than just your average, run of the mill crime.

That is, if someone is shot because they are _____________ (fill in the blank) THAT crime is somehow more worthy of concern then someone getting shot, say, at random... or during a robbery.

And that, my friends, is pure, grade A, moronic bullshit. Fringe leftists love this kind of thing, but then, they are easily led tools anyway, or they wouldn't be fringe leftists.
There is no excuse for this kind of crap, and Leavitt ought to be at least as ashamed of himself over this as he is his rabid support for a replacement bridge that we don't need; loot rail that we neither need or want, and his continuing, ongoing failure to demand a vote for that entire project.

Taking it a step further, Leavitt used his position as a city council member for pure, unadulterated political scammery for an absolutely worthless resolution that accomplishes precisely nothing... so HE could take ctredit for it as if it accomplished something.

There's no place in government for this type of smoke and mirrors, and the attitude behind such a worthless, political move not only doesn't belong as mayor... he doesn't belong in government at all.

City of Vancouver Passes Resolution Against Hate and Bias Crimes

Last night marked a great step forward for the City of Vancouver-- the City Council reviewed and approved our resolution against hate and bias crimes, and supporting a community of inclusiveness, respect, and collaboration. Many thanks to all who helped make it possible, including LULAC, the NAACP, the YWCA, Clark County, and the Battle Ground Cultural Task Force--among many others!

Here is the text of the resolution that was passed.


A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Vancouver affirming its support of a diverse community and a community free from discrimination, hate and bias.

WHEREAS, the City of Vancouver has experienced significant population growth over the last fifteen years; and

WHEREAS, as the city’s population becomes more diverse, which adds richness and cultural depth, it can also create new tensions within such a growing community; and

WHEREAS, the City of Vancouver as a government organization values the perspective and contributions of all of its citizens; and

Yadda, yadda, yadda.

There are some around here who've never learned. They've been taken in by the stadium rip offs in Seattle... the baseball and football stadium wastes of mountains of taxpayer money in Seattle seems to leave visions of grandeur in the minds of many. Thus, the rather bizarre talk of building a stadium here so the Beavers, now in PDX, would have somewhere to play baseball.

A Ballpark in Vancouver? YOU Should Be The Ones Who Decide!

As you might have heard, the Portland Beavers are soon to be a team without a stadium -- and one option that's come up is locating the new park up here, in Clark County.

Yesterday, KGW came out and interviewed me, as well as the incumbent, about our views on the matter. You can see by watching the clip that although both he and I are baseball fans (he of his hometown Boston Red Sox and me of the Northwest's own Seattle Mariners) -- I appear to be the only one interested in finding out what YOU have to say about it!

For those of you who've been paying attention the last few years, you'll probably find it as funny as I did that the man who's been consistently raising your taxes year after year, while slashing vital services, waited until he was in front of a TV camera to talk about how he'd rather spend tax dollars on police and fire.

That statement would be a lot more compelling if it were actually true.

Yes, he does love to tax this community -- but every year, as his revenues get larger -- he makes bigger and bigger cuts in core services -- including police, fire, road repair, and parks.

A ballpark might be a great addition to the county. But it might also be a huge drain. Something this big isn't for me, or for a sitting Mayor who's on his way out to decide. Only you, the voters, should have the say on something that big, and which could have such an impact.

So tell me! What do YOU think?

NO toll is "reasonable." Only a slimy politician would try to get people to believe that he's actually doing something for us instead of too us when he has done absolutely nothing to give us any say where it actually matters: at the polls.

What we're GOING to get because of his cowardice and lack of belief in the will of the people, is a massive toll, an economically crippling toll that will suck as much as $100,000,000 a year out of our local economy... and there will be ol' Timmy, standing on the sidelines, telling us, "Well, I TRIED to keep the tolls low" (As if that matters) when he COULD have taken the lead and demanded a vote.

What is it that Seattle knows that the idiots in Vancouver government haven't yet figured out?

A while back, No Choice Royce and his band of tax and spenders stupidly put together a head tax for businesses in Vancouver.

"Head taxes" are moronic, anti-business taxes that greedy governments impose when they're going broke... sort of a "kicking a dead horse" approach to filling up the increasingly larger ghost town that IS downtown Vancouver.

If one has the choice of setting up shop in an economic desolation zone like downtown only to get popped with an additional, $50 per employee tax... as if HAVING an employee, in and of itself, costs the city anything.... or setting up somewhere else where reality actually plays a role... what choice would YOU make?

The many, many empty store fronts in Vancouver speak for themselves.

It was moronic then, when the city strong-armed that massive waste of money into place by threatening (bluffing) to implement a city B&O tax that business stupidly went along with, and it's stupid now, in the midst of this huge economic downturn.

Well, the light has went on in Seattle, and they're smart enough to see this turd in the punch bowl for what it is.

Seattle is getting rid of this garbage fee on business. How is it that Seattle has figured it out... but the morons in Vancouver City Hall take no action to kill THEIR version of this idiocy?

Seattle ready to repeal unpopular employer tax

The Seattle City Council and Mayor Greg Nickels plan to repeal the employee head tax, which they say discourages hiring.

The Seattle City Council and Mayor Greg Nickels plan to repeal an unpopular business tax they say discourages hiring.

The mayor proposed the annual "head tax" of $25 for every full-time employee in 2006. It raises about $4.7 million a year, revenue used for transportation projects, such as street and sidewalk maintenance.

In this economy, the mayor said in a press release, "we want to do everything possible to create jobs and help businesses grow."

Council members Tim Burgess and Richard Conlin are leading the effort on the council to repeal the tax. Even if $25 a year isn't enough to stop a business from hiring a new employee, it's complicated for businesses to calculate the tax, and it can be used by surrounding cities to make Seattle look less-than-business friendly, Burgess said.

The tax includes exemptions for workers who commute by bus, carpool, bicycle or walking.

Mike Heywood stops by to comment on my post about his announced candidacy.

Mike Heywood, candidate for Vancouver City Council swung by and replied to a previous post written about two months ago. There's something of an irony here, so I thought I would share:

I was myself a little surprised the story about my candidacy didn't include a reminder about my sin of checking out porn sites while on the clock, but I expected it would only be a matter of time before somebody brought it up. My friends and supporters did decide to overlook my flaws, and so I continue active in the Democratic Party and theatre and such despite the presentiment of some that I should be consigned to oblivion and shame. In defense of The Columbian, the paper sat on the announcement story for a week after I filed with the PDC, perhaps to give the incumbent time to get in a dig. Mike Heywood

This is an intriguing statement for a variety of reasons. To me, it speaks of the almost genetic double standard of the left.

Were Mr. Heywood known for his Republican persuasion, he would be savaged every hour on the hour by many of those self-same "friends and supporters," much like they savaged Republicans of note such as Richard Curtis, or Larry Craig or Mark Foley... while remaining essentially silent in the face of the actions of those such as William "Cold Hard Cash" Jefferson, and the oh, so prim and proper multiple adulterer Rep. Tim Mahoney, the now-ousted replacement for Foley.

Are these issues of character? Are these issues of morality? Are they issues of an inability to follow company policy? Are they issues of objectification of women?

That, of course, is for the individual to decide. With my years of experience in the political biz, though, there can be no doubt: if the show were on the other foot, the democrats at any level would exploit this for everything they could.

"Forgive" would not be in their lexicon, as the exploitation of every weakness, real... or perceived, is their campaign mantra.

That is not to say that GOP'ers; which I used to be, don't do the same to a greater or lesser extent.

What it is to say is that in the midst of campaigns of unimaginable vituperation; of campaigns where the character of a candidate's CHILDREN is up for assassination; in a campaign where the media has assumed a co-equal position with the leftist messaging organs; it is unrealistic to presume for Mr. Heywood that the issues, of which he is also completely wrong, would decide the outcome of his election.

That said, I certainly invite Mr. Heywood to stop by when the mood strikes and discuss his positions. The issue of his departure from the Columbian has been discussed all it's going to be on this blog.

But the issues are fair game. Links to those issues would be helpful, but are not required.
