Have a weapon in your home? Are you prepared to use it?

That's a question you should consider now, before you may have to.

When are you going to shoot someone breaking into your house?  How do you go about doing it?

That's not a question for me to answer: I'm not a lawyer; don't even play one on TV.  I know that I would have been comfortable acting the way this went down.  But you all have to make your own decisions, and I believe it's better to think about it and plan for it now, then it is while it's actually happening.

Your mileage may vary.  This is a video of an incident where a man broke into an occupied apartment using a machete and, having been warned by the homeowner, was subsequently shot 3 times by apparently a small caliber handgun.  He survived the shooting and was booked on two counts each of attempted murder, burglary and aggravated assault.

He pled out to one attempted murder and one aggravated assault charge for a minimum 10 year fixed and additional 10 year "indeterminate" sentence.

February 2014, Twain N Thomas was shot three times after he kicked in a neighbors door and came at the occupants with a machete. (229 S. Garfield, Pocatello)
