Obama Government = truly stupid.

____________________________________________________________________________

One of the hundreds of problems facing America today, is that it's pretty clear that no one in the administration or Congress apparently understands the value of the taxpayer dollar… Since they apparently are capable of spending than in unlimited quantities for the most bizarre items imaginable.

Most recent outrage?

The government in its infinite wisdom is going to spend millions, to transport the entirety of Congress, to the funeral of representative C.  W.  Bill Young.…  Which happens to be in Florida.

Now, I have no particular difficulty with members of Congress attending representative Young's funeral.  But the typical congressional work week goes from Tuesday through Thursday as it is.  First of all, if Representative Young's family was concerned about members of Congress attending his funeral, they always could've moved it to Friday, in which case, at least, as they're screwing us over, they've taken that particular day off.

But the thing is, if these people want to go to his funeral, then why don't they pony up out of their own pockets like the rest of us would, and pay to go down there themselves?  It's not like they can't afford it on 175G with a substantially unlimited travel budget.

This, in the face of last week’s idiocy, where the multimillionaire widow of Sen. Frank Lautenberg, received a $174,000 death gratuity payment.

Folks, it’s difficult to make this sort of thing up.  Clearly, this is a government that is lost its mind, and is certainly out of touch with the rest of America.

Congressman Hinton, or Sen. Hinton, would politely decline the offer of a government-paid ride down to Florida to attend the funeral, and would then attend the funeral going entirely out of pocket, without using one taxpayer dime.

Hopefully, the vast majority of Congress will take the same approach that I would take were I actually in Congress.

But I doubt that they will.

Congress to close down, fly Air Force planes to Florida for funeral of Rep. C.W. Bill Young

Congress will shut down on Thursday, and leaders have told lawmakers the Defense Department will fly them to Florida for the funeral of Rep. C.W. Bill Young, who died late last week.
Mr. Young was the senior Republican in the chamber, and the move to close down business is a mark of respect for him — though it also means that there will be no floor votes and that many committee meetings have been canceled, cutting short what was already a mostly empty week. The House’s hearing examining the health exchange rollout will continue as planned, however.
After passing a deal to raise the debt ceiling and reopen government, the Senate went on an 11-day vacation. The House was slated to be in Tuesday evening through Thursday but will now just be in for a day and a half, with the chief business a vote on a public works legislation.
House officials told lawmakers to be ready to leave Washington from Joint Base Andrews early Thursday to make the funeral in Largo, Fla., and then plan to return late in the evening.
A Pentagon spokesman couldn’t say how much it will cost to fly the members to Florida for the funeral.
