Republican liars in the US Senate?

.
As I pointed our earlier, the GOP was in a position to stop BOTH the DREAM Act AND DADT... if they wanted to.

Clearly, the progressive wing of the GOP... primarily but not entirely made up of those like their fellow leftists who never set foot in uniform or, like Scott Brown, never set foot in a combat unit, wanted this horrific outcome.

But at the end of the day, the remaining GOP members in the senate COULD have filibustered. They could have killed it that way.

But they didn't.

You all remember this, don't you?

Read Our Lips - No Votes Until Tax Rates And The Budget Resolution Are Passed

Republicans in the Senate collectively agreed that there would be no votes on any legislation unless and until expiring marginal tax rates and the budget continuing resolution were passed.

That agreement held together through the passage of "tax deal" and the defeat of the Omnibus bill.

Then Republicans proceeded to allow votes on DADT, the DREAM Act, and other legislation.

But, there is no passage of a budget resolution, and there have been negotiations through the weekend as numerous news sources are reporting:
The spending measure is critical since the current short-term law expires Tuesday, and Congress cannot adjourn without making some provision for keeping the federal government running for the next few months. Senate leaders had been in talks over the bill since a huge spending package collapsed last week, but they were unable to come to an agreement that could move through the Congress without opposition.
It looks like a deal to extend funding through early March will pass this week, but it has not passed yet.

Republicans need to start meaning what they say. When Republicans say no votes until tax rates and the budget resolution are passed, that means no votes until tax rates and the budget resolution are passed.

No more "read my lips" moments, please.
This is THE number one reason why Republicans lose: They lie.

And when they lie, they dishearten the base and strengthen our enemies.

The GOP SHOULD have remained in lock step, killing anything in their path until they KEPT THEIR WORD.

At this point, McConnell's word is worthless. And what kind of political foundation can be built on that?

You forget, the GOP is now heavily influenced by Ron Paul and his worshippers, especially in Clark County.

Paul advocated repeal of DADT and same sex marriage.

He talks a good game on earmarks and such, but packs more into spending bills than any other Republican and then votes against the bill, knowing full well it is going to pass.

I feel bad for those conservatives who still think the GOP represents them.

It's rapidly being taken over by Libertarians, many of whom are leftists.

That's right... like Orrin Hatch on the Hugh Hewitt show the other night arrogantly declared "I've been here 34 years, I know how things get done here." He was defending the piss poor tax deal with Obama.

And more and more of us are getting about sick of this kind of thing.
