Leftist ignorance on gun control: Greg wants to know: why an AR 15?

We've been swamped by it.

One of the duller local lights, the democratian's Greg Jayne, asks the typically stupid leftist question:
A couple of years ago, following one mass shooting or another, I asked a friend of mine why he owns an AR-15.
I dunno, Greg.  Why do you use a word processor?

I mean, you could still write if you went back to the quill and ink days, and use parchment.

You see, so-called "journalists" are the fist to bitch and whine and moan about censorship whenever anyone holds them accountable for their lies, exaggerations, and half-truths.

They'll break out the First Amendment at the speed of light in vacuum.

And what, precisely, does that Amendment say?
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
So, as a result, not only does Greg say what he wants, he uses modern equipment... computers and the like to say it.

That's his privilege, of course: no one is suggesting otherwise.

Just like it's an American's privilege to own an AR 15.

After the First Amendment comes this pesky Second:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Those rights ARE "infringed," every day.

Let's take a look at the word "infringed" and what it means.
•act so as to limit or undermine (something); encroach on:

"his legal rights were being infringed" ·
Need a permit to carry a concealed weapon?

That's an infringement of our rights.

Not allowed to use a bumpstock, or even possess one?

Not allowed to own or use an automatic weapon?

Not allowed to have or use a magazine with more than a 10 round capacity?

Not allowed to give your son, daughter, cousin, father, mother, grandfather or grandmother a rifle or hand gun without reporting it?

ALL of those restrictions are, in fact, "infringement" of our rights.  And the irony is that criminals routinely ignore those restrictions while those of us who follow the law typically don't.

So, let me take this opportunity to answer your question, Greg:

I own an AR 15 variant because I can.  I don't need to justify it to you any more than you need to justify your ownership or use of a laptop computer to me.

As a leftist, "discussion" is a codeword for "further infringing my rights."

Just out of curiosity, Greg, how often should we discuss infringing YOUR rights?

The additional irony is that there's nothing new we can talk about.

The problem of mass shootings hasn't changed, although there are a wide variety of ways it COULD have changed if you leftists would only listen.

For example, I can't even begin to wrap my head around the idea that it was perfectly OK to guard Obama's kids at Sidwell Friends with armed guards carrying automatic weapons, but at the same time, leftists lose their minds over the idea of having that same thing in public schools to provide security and to harden those soft targets that are simply not protected by a "gun free zone" sign as well as they might have hoped.

Arming teachers would be a cheaper, much more immediate alternative, which could be implemented quite quickly.

But when was the last time any leftist indicated they'd even consider that as a viable alternative?

The problem... as is the case with so many issues... is that leftists generally offer up zero viable solutions to the resolve this situation.

The ask the stupid question like Greg did, as if we need to justify our decisions concerning why we buy what we buy while they, correspondingly, have no such responsibility in return for anything THEY may purchase.  But when presented with alternatives that would WORK?

Nobody's home.

So, generally, the conversations involving anti-gunners are resolutely one-sided and mono-directional.

They CLAIM (some of them, anyway) that gun confiscation is NOT their goal.  But the problem is that far too many of them actually DO have that as a goal.

They see the removal of weapons from this country (that pesky little Second Amendment aside) as some sort of utopian vision that would make everything sweetness and light.

They lie, and even Greg admits they make up numbers to support their position.  So why, for example, hold a conversation with liars?

The classic infringements to owning a weapon are those of Chicago, where slaughter goes on every day without peep one from these same people (Tell me, Greg... when was the last time you demanded some sort of "conversation" about Chicago, where 650 people were slaughtered last year?) because CLEARLY, "what we're doing now is not working THERE," either; and, of course, California... where all of THEIR problems... like all of OUR problems... are solved with an "assault weapons" ban, magazines that cannot exceed 10 rounds of capacity, a "5 year firearm safety certificate," passing a written test, registered to owners the state keeps track of (and what invader wouldn't love to get their hands on that? Or what out-of-control government?)  the ending of new models of hand gun sales, private firearms sales forced to go through licensed dealers, a 10 day waiting period, a "may issue" state, with "no issue" locations like LA and San Francisco and so on.

Right?

Well, maybe not.  But it makes them FEEL better... unless one of their kids is in the classroom in question.

THAT is the kind of conversation leftists generally and those on the fringes here in Washington State want to have.

Because, you know, those laws are VERY effective.  After all, there haven't been any terrorist attacks or school shootings or police getting shot in California... has there?

I mean, except for the ones where all those people got killed?

And in all of this, let's never lose sight that the FBI has been warned REPEATEDLY about mass killers, including this one, and they've REPEATEDLY dropped the ball... just like they did in Florida.

New... or additional... gun laws are NOT going to work if the ones we have now are not enforced and if we don't even follow up when those involved in this sort of thing are served up on a silver platter... BEFORE they attack.

The problem is massive.  All we can do is the best we can but let's face it, it's like a giant whack-a-mole game.

If we turned every school into a fortress, that wouldn't eliminate the threat.  It would reduce it, but not eliminate it, particularly if more than one person was involved.

We've already had other soft targets hit: movie theaters, shopping centers, clubs, concerts, churches... the ability to provide security... meaningful security on those targets... will be expensive, exacting, frustrating and most anti-American, inconvenient.

But that is what it's going to take.

Greg and his ilk are very big on the zealous defense of their First Amendment rights, no matter how much they may lie, exaggerate, attack or use the rag as a cudgel to beat people into submission, like they have on more than one occasion attempted to beat ME.

It's just a damned shame they're not nearly as concerned about ALL of the Bill of Rights, INCLUDING the Second Amendment, as they are their little corner of it.

So, by all means... have a conversation.  And wake me up when you come up with something new.

So what is Gas Tax Rivers REALLY after? Raping us on the gas tax, property taxes and DACA? For what?

Face it.

Locally, Rivers is politically DOA.

People vote their wallets.  And, for whatever the reason, Rivers has been taking her jackhammer to ours.

First, she fibbed her way into office by pledging to oppose any gas tax or tab fee increase, which as the average reader now knows was a full on, bald face lie.

As a reminder, here's a screen capture from her campaign web site:

The result?

Rivers, for her part, has never apologized for lying her way into office.  She's never truthfully explained why she's sold us out and, in the process, trashed her own district that was uniformly opposed to her betrayal.

Thanks to Brent Boger, who recorded this (for the wrong reasons, to be sure) Rivers' lies are on video for all to see... no matter what she's running for in the future... and her political hari-kari is being done for much more than just her Senate seat... for which, any well-financed conservative can beat her like a rented mule and remove her from politics altogether.

Rivers will be the first to tell you that politics makes strange bedfellows to be sure.

But when you combine this betrayal with her most recent?

Every one of us who own or rent property are going to feel this one where it hurts the most.  And Rivers will be the one most responsible for the sting.

braun and rivers
Republican Sens. John Braun and Ann Rivers talk to the media Thursday about the agreement reached on an education funding plan in Olympia. Lawmakers say their budget compromise satisfies a state Supreme Court ruling that says the state must spend more money on schools.
Yes, Sen. John Braun, heretofore marketing himself as a "conservative," also bears some responsibility for bending us over and raping our wallets.  But it was Rivers who was hired by a democrat campaign firm during a critical juncture in these so-called "negotiations," where really, the only thing at issue was the method of our fiscal execution that the fake-Republican controlled State Senate was arranging.

Regardless, it was Rivers who led the charge on screwing us so the WEA could become even MORE powerful with even MORE money... having been hired by the democrats at the time.

The result?

An additional $5.5 billion tossed into their kitty.

The result?

As I have been writing here for months, our property taxes are going to explode.

She lies about it, of course.  What else CAN she do?

She told everyone at her dog and pony shows yesterday that NEXT year; our property taxes will go down.

Of course, both her sock puppet Sen. Lynda Wilson (D - Tracy) told the GOP PCO's that they were going down THIS year last Summer, but that doesn't seemed to have worked out, did it?

Yes, the state portion of the property tax is projected to go down next year.

But here's the minor detail:

They're projected to go down around 10%... of THIS year's INCREASE!

And the following year?

They're projected to go back UP, about 10% of this year's increase, putting us back to THIS year's property tax amount!

Watch and listen as Rivers and her parrot Wilson explain it all to the PCO's.  They speak for themselves, but clearly, there is no lie these scum won't tell you.

They not only lied... they did it with a smile.

And now, sources tell me, Rivers claimed yesterday that she intends to drop a DACA bill of some sort that will support the illegal aliens in this state, even more than she already does!

Have we noticed, she supposedly said, how expensive apples are lately?

Well, unlike Rivers, I actually buy apples and guess what?

They cost the same this year as they have for the past several.

But Rivers claims that there's some sort of shortage of agricultural workers and that we NEED the DACA illegals to pick fruit.

Right.

We have more illegal aliens in this state... in this country... than we've EVER had.

So... how can there be a shortage of agricultural workers?

(Sometimes, it frightens me that an actual state senator could believe her constituents are such idiots.)

Maybe... just maybe... the illegals are taking OTHER jobs OUTSIDE of agriculture?  Taking jobs they're not SUPPOSED to take?

Does this idiot actually believe that these illegals here under DACA are just pining away to work in the fields, and somehow, she can fulfill their dream legislatively?

Were the voters of the 18th District to become aware of her leftist leanings on illegal aliens, they'd dive into a vat of boiling hydrochloric acid before they'd vote for her.

Combine that with her flipping on the CRC/Loot Rail scam... a project that she bears the lion's share of responsibility for killing... and what possible motivation does she have for all of this?

There are only three possible reasons for this:

1.  She's being blackmailed and they've got her good.
2.  She's been bought.
3.  She's running for a statewide office of some sort and has to polish her leftist cred.

The reality is clear: she's done a better job of representing downtown Seattle than she has her conservative, rural legislative district.  And I assure you, her "service" Chihuahuas are more conservative than she is.

Something is up.  At some point, we're all going to find out.  But she has as much chance of remaining elected in this district as she does getting a sex change.

Of course, given her fringe left politics, anything is possible.

Time to get rid of the FBI.

If nothing else, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has shown itself to be both politically malleable AND criminally incompetent.

As a result, it's time to end that agency.

Everyone remotely involved with any effort to attack any campaign and their supervisors needs to be fired.

Anyone remotely involved with dropping the ball on the foreknowledge of the high school shooting in Florida...as the FBI has acknowledged they were... needs to be fired.

The senior leadership of the FBI needs to be fired.

They've shown themselves to be both criminally incompetent in regards to the Florida situation and politically incompetent in allowing themselves to be used as a political tool.

This fish is rotting from the head down and it's time for it to go.

A shocking idea?  Not really; it's been done before.

At the close of World War 2, the intelligence agency headed by Gen. William "Wild Bill" Donovan, the Office of Strategic Services, was disbanded and turned into what we know now as the Central Intelligence Agency.  The OSS was the object of your basic inter-agency warfare, with various individuals and other agencies in government, including the FBI, wanting to take it over completely...mainly so they could control it.  As it was, it was under direct presidential control, so that no one would "filter" the intelligence to "handle" the president... which drove many in other agencies insane since their intel presented to the President and Gen. Donovan's frequently failed to match up.

When the OSS was dissolved, many of their personnel and assets were transferred to the CIA, once it was up and running.

So, that is not to say that the actual crime-fighters, the field agents and the like who are actually doing their job the way it was meant to be would not be kept on.

But it will take more than Florida Governor Rick Scott's demand that the director of the FBI resign to straighten out this now rotten-to-the-core agency.

It will take a complete reorganization and a new identity, since the tarnished name of the FBI now can never be trusted.

What possible way is there for these people to engage in image rehabilitation?  They're in a hole so deep they need to have daylight pumped into them.

Things need to change... and quickly.  The mere resignation or firing of a few in the upper echelon, particularly those beholden to the past administration, simply isn't enough.

Leveling the FBI and rebuilding it into something we can believe in is the only way.

Who didn't know the RINOs would try this? White House: New bipartisan DACA plan “giant amnesty”

(Be sure to read the article at the bottom about the new RINO gang of 8)

Sigh.

The scourge of the fake Republicans continues at all levels (Seen your GOP- State Senate property tax increases yet?) with this latest legislative abortion, this most recent RINO cave-in to the democrats on Obama's illegal executive order known as DACA.

Following the usual local RINO model of caving to the democrats on everything from massive, unnecessary tax increases to our own illegal alien support system, Senate RINOs just decided to reward these people for breaking our laws by giving them the full mean deal.
A bipartisan group of senators reached a deal on immigration Wednesday as President Trump attempted to preemptively undercut the proposal by delivering an ultimatum: Pass my plan or risk a veto.
The self-dubbed “Common Sense Caucus” of senators late Wednesday circulated legislation that would fulfill Trump’s calls to grant legal status to 1.8 million young immigrants and would appropriate $25 billion for southern border security construction projects over the next decade — not immediately, as Trump wants. The bill also would curb family-based immigration programs, but not to the extent Trump is seeking, and would not end a diversity visa lottery program that he wants eliminated.
Exclusive of the obvious fact that these illegals should be deported, the President HAS made it clear what his priorities are.

The RINOs are ignoring him.  Like most leftists falsely claiming to be "Republican," they always go for the "settle-for" bill, or the "best we can do" bill.

The President needs to let it be known that if he fails to get the bill he wants, then effective March 5th, he will begin a systemic round up and deportation of these so-called DACA illegals and continue it until they're gone.

That's HIS leverage.

These clowns need to remember that this policy, which even Obama admitted he did not have the authority to do, is ILLEGAL.  MAKING an illegal executive order magically legal though congressional action would be no more effective than the most idiotic action President Reagan took during HIS administration: the granting of amnesty to the millions here THEN pissing on our laws.

How has that worked out for us?

And the insanity of the RINOs indicating that they'd pay for/build a wall over the next decade is an obvious set up to kill the wall altogether... as the funding and the construction would surely die a death of a thousand cuts as these same RINOs would then set about to delay funding and use other legislative kabuki theater to keep the wall from EVER being built.

The President may have been born on a Saturday... but it wasn't LAST Saturday.

But then, RINOs at all levels count on us being stupid.

Sadly, far too often, they've been right.  That's how our own disgrace of a state senator, Ann "Gas Tax" Rivers was reelected.

The President has the leverage here... and it's a hell of a lot more than a veto threat.

The question is this: does he have the testicular fortitude to use it?

Meet the new Gang of 8: GOP senators push amnesty for FUTURE illegal aliens

It’s time to start blacklisting.

UNITED STATES - JANUARY 12: Sen. Mike Rounds, R-S. Dak., questions Secretary of Defense nominee James Mattis during his confirmation hearing in the Senate Armed Services Committee on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017. (Photo By Bill Clark/CQ Roll Call) | Getty Images

A A A
Eight Republican senators just signed onto Sen. Chuck Schumer’s, D-N.Y., newly introduced amendment to grant de facto amnesty to every single illegal alien of any age present in this country who has not been convicted of a serious crime. Additionally, it invites people to sneak over the border for the next four months to enjoy amnesty as well. The American people need to know who these people are. Call them the new Gang of Eight:
Mike Rounds (S.D.)
Johnny Isakson (Ga.)
Lamar Alexander (Tenn.)
Susan Collins (Maine)
Lisa Murkowski (Alaska)
Jeff Flake (Ariz.)
Lindsey Graham (S.C.)
Cory Gardner (Colo.)

It is quite evident by the pencil marks on the bill that Schumer wrote the bill but then filed it in the names of Mike Rounds and Angus King, I-Maine. I doubt Rounds even understands the consequences of this bill. Yet, this man who never ran on amnesty is now granting amnesty forever and shutting down all deportations.
Take a look at the final page of the amendment:

Penciled in at the end is the crossing out of 2012 as the cut-off date for amnesty and dictating that anyone who comes to the United States after June 30, 2018 – 4 months from now – will get de facto amnesty. This is extremely dangerous and unconscionable that eight Republicans would sign onto such a proposal. While the cut-off for affirmative amnesty with positive legal status is still 2012, this bill dictates that DHS shall “prioritize available immigration resources” only for criminal aliens (and not all criminals) or those brought after four months from now.
This essentially shuts down the deportation of almost every illegal alien currently in the country while simultaneously inviting in new illegals to flood our borders for four months under the promise of no deportation.
Think about it: even under current law when statute unambiguously dictates that all illegals must be deported, fake judges are granted judicial amnesty and saying you are not allowed to deport those who aren’t dangerous criminals. Once it is written clearly in statute that DHS SHALL prioritize only those who come later, the courts will invalidate every single deportation of anyone who came before that point.
This also means that all of the MS-13 gang members who came in from Central America in 2014 (and are still coming) as a result of DACA amnesty will now be free from deportation.
So much for the general sentiments of “dreamers” and “of no fault of their own.” We always knew this was a down payment to abolish deportations and national sovereignty.
And even the affirmative amnesty provisions apply to anyone under the age of 43. It is not just those who received DACA, but at least 3 million illegals and it provides a clear pathway for millions of their parents.
Now consider this: Senator Cory Gardner, R, Colo., is the man in charge of recruiting other candidates to run as…Republicans. The chairman of the Republican Senatorial Committee now wants to grant amnesty to every illegal here and essentially shut down all deportations in the courts in perpetuity.
It’s time for President Trump to walk away. And it’s time for GOP voters to pledge to never vote for any of these Republicans in a primary or general election ever again.
Game. Set. Match. We have no country left.

So, the Battle Ground School Bond appears to have lost...

And the reactions from supporters are about what you'd expect:
I blame it on the bullshit supermajority. The majority spoke. That is enough. It’s what our Nation was founded on.

My heart hurts 💔 for BGPS!!! Voters.... you had 1 job!!!! And you FAILED miserably!!! I am PRAYING 🙏🏼 the ballots left to be counted swing the almost 4% needed to pass but it’s not looking good!

I just don’t get it! With THOUSANDS of new homes and apartments come kids..... and our current schools are already massively overcrowded!!! When does the bond just get forced to happen??? These kids are the FUTURE!!! And I hope those that voted NO on this end up sitting someday with a dirty adult diaper in an overcrowded elderly facility with no one to help your sorry butt because you didn’t give these kids the money for the proper facilities, tools, resources, and technology TODAY to learn how to wipe your butt to begin with!

Yep. It’s pathetic. I wonder how many no voters have kids at the schools that aren’t overcrowded or falling apart. And how many no votes are from people who don’t have kids. I honestly couldn’t sleep at night if I voted no. No sense of community.

And these same people will be complaining about "kids these days" and posting about how some teenager stole a lawn ornament from their yard. A healthy community begins with education. We all benefit!! I'm sad the community is so short sighted.

Yep, in overcrowded collapsing buildings...oh and probably by shifting boundaries and taking kids out of their neighborhood schools - great solution...

I understand there are 3 kinds of people. Those who live in the past. Those who live in the present. Those who live in the future. Not enough people care about the future.

Pat Jollota Might teach them how to duck and roll, seek shelter, etc as the building comes down around them. Valuable life lessons right? Edit: *please read this in a sarcastic tone*

Better education isn’t going to matter if there’s black mold growing in the schools where they’re getting said education so they get sick and die????
And this was just from one post.

If you vote "no" on a bond or a levy, then you want kids dying in the streets, you don't care about your community, kids will be dropping out left and right because, you know, MONEY SOLVES EVERY PROBLEM A SCHOOL DISTRICT FACES.

Except it doesn't.

Along with all of the past GOP Senate/Rivers tax increases, such as her gas tax/tab fee increases; we have the next set of legislative tax increases threatening us.  We are all facing massive property tax increases on top of gas tax and tab fee increases, county property tax increases, city tab fees and increases, and every other imaginable fee increase.

To those in love with the education plant, none of that matters.

The problems are many, but the biggest problem is that it's never enough.  They squeeze and squeeze and squeeze until the turnip is completely dry with no blood left.

And instead of stepping back... and focusing on WHY this insanity lost... the supporters uniformly beat up those who opposed it, doing everything from question their sanity, to questioning their morals.

Who does that convince?

It convinces the opposition to galvanize and work harder to cause any effort to get more money to fail.

Again.

And when it fails, the cycle will be repeated: it won't ever be the district's fault in the eyes of the bond supporters... it will ALWAYS be the fault of the voters who were too stupid, too uncaring, too selfish or who simply didn't know better.

After all... who cares that the voters also have their own bills to pay?

In this case, it was horrific timing that this bond came out at the same time the Rivers Property Tax Explosion took place.  But those demanding their pound of flesh could care less.  As the comments above show... supporters think those who oppose their view are morons.

Well, maybe.  But the morons prevailed.

C'est la guerre.
