The arrogance of the left on Benton's effort to enshrine the 2/3rds requirement in our state Constitution.

One of Senator Don Benton's efforts this session is to pass legislation leading to the amending of our state constitution to require a 2/3rds vote of the legislature to pass tax increases.

The fringe left (Hell, the regular left that's lubricated on socialist tenets to fund their myriad of wasteful spending) hates the very idea.

Their problem?
Washington citizens have successfully passed five initiatives requiring a two-thirds majority to raise taxes over the past 20 years, said Jason Mercier, director of the Washington Policy Center, a conservative think tank. Each of the past initiatives have been struck down by the state Supreme Court or dismantled by the Legislature, said Mercier, who testified in favor of Benton's bill.
Their next problem?

The voters passed this last year with a 64% yes vote.

As usual, the democrats ignore the will of the people.  Hell, simpering idiots like Rep,. Jim Moeller (Communist - 49) even have gone so far as to SUE his OWN CONSTITUENTS... who had the temerity to vote FOR I-1185 winning in EVERY precinct of his district (according to the Columbian's precinct map) but this concept is somehow "bad."

Clearly, the people are getting fed up with unrestrained spending.  Unrestrained spending equates to unrestrained taxing, and we already know that the same fringe-left nutters opposed to I-1185 and Sen. Benton's efforts have tried to implement a camel's nose under the tent flap approach to scamming us with a state income tax... only to fail... again.

So, instead of grasping what the people are trying to tell these clowns, we get this:
"It allows essentially 17 legislators to block something from moving forward," said Nick Federici, speaking on behalf of the Our Economic Future Coalition. "A two-thirds majority delegates power to a minority. … A two-thirds majority (requirement) makes it virtually impossible to use revenue as a tool to solve problems."
Yeah?  And?  That the people WANT it that way mean anything to you?

Allow this to go to the voters.  Make your "OMG, we have to jack taxes to 'solve problems'" pitch.

See what it gets you.

Well done, Sen. Benton.

Stuart blows it again.

So, the Commissioners are going to pass a resolution against the CRC scam.  Well done.

Stuart throws a hissy fit, and babbles:
All three Clark County commissioners hold a seat on the nine-member C-Tran board. But any statement the county makes alone won't have an effect on the CRC, Stuart said.
"The county commission has no legal authority over this interstate project. Period," Stuart said.
How long have we been hearing that local officials have no say?

Long enough to question yesterday's idiocy from Tim "The Liar" Leave-it?

Strange, isn't it?  The democratian and their allies, like Stuart and Leave-it, keep telling us there's nothing that can be done at the local level... it's all out of their hands, the commissioners, for example, have no say.

So, what does Leave-it do?  You know, one of the guys that allegedly "have no say?"

And why is Stuart so upset about this if, in fact, it's as meaningless as they would like us to believe?

Here's the thing:  Stuart, obviously, will be a "no."  But all of that begs the question: if this resolution will have no impact... then why are the CRC scammers like Stuart so upset about it?

Why do they want to stall it?

Stuart whines:
Commissioner Steve Stuart said he learned of the resolution this morning only after Madore's request by email -- and Mielke's agreement by phone -- and believes the public should have been involved in the process.
"I'll keep fighting to make sure open and transparent government is more than just a talking point," Stuart said.
Did we not have an "open and transparent" election last November?

Did the two most strident opponents in government win by large margins?

Did the commissioner objecting the longest and loudest get 21,000 more votes then the now former commissioner who was so loudly in favor of this scam... not unlike Stuart, come to think of it?

The people HAVE spoken through a VERY "transparent process."  CRC scammers like Stuart and Leave-it just don't want to listen.

Stuart wants a large room full of his buddies... the unions, the CRUDEC/Identity Vancouver/Downtown Mafia types to come in and lie while he continues to ignore the FACTS behind his perfidy: that, according to the Oregon Supreme Court and the CRC itself, this whole scam is for loot rail and they had no intention of ever listening to the people.

Well, guess what?

That blithering idiot in the White House was right when he said that elections have consequences.  And they do.

But they also have consequences down here: and down here, Steve, your side of this rip off is getting hammered like a nail.

I have no problem with Commissioners Mielke and Madore passing this, and doing it now.  Stuart would waste everyone's time and turn this into a Nazi-like show-trial, where his side could stand up and beat their breasts and whine and moan and complain while they CONTINUE to ignore us, CONTINUE to ignore the facts and CONTINUE to lie.

And Commissioner Stuart, if you don't like it, then vote "no."  In fact, I would ASK you to vote "no," because if you're still here two years from now, this is the kind of vote you'll be hearing a lot about as you are dismissed from office the same way Boldt was.

Meanwhile, if, in fact, as Stuart says, the commissioner's have "no legal authority" in this matter.... then why does he care WHAT they do?  Why doesn't he say something like "sure, go ahead.... won't matter anyway, but hey, if that's what they want to do...."

Because we all know it DOES matter.  It sends another message to Washington, DC, and it might actually force that simple idiot in Congress to actually DO something to spike this thing instead of just doing her nails.  But Stuart's complaint's tend to cast doubt on the idea that this is meaningless.

Just sayin'.

Tim "The Liar" Leave-it pre-campaign positioning: remember when the scum at the Lazy C told us that there was nothing commissioners could do about the CRC?

We all remember what a total, complete, lying scumbag Tim "The Liar" Leave-it has been and continues to be.

There's one reason and one reason only this weasel was elected to mayor: he lied about his position on the CRC.  He is Mayor Fraud.

Fast forward to last year's election.

How many times and in how many ways did the local embarrassment of a daily waste of pulp lie to us by trying to convince us the issue of the CRC rip off was completely out of local hands, in their abortive effort to get Boldt (a proven rabid Columbian water carrier and CRC shill) and Tanner elected while working to get equally rabid CRC opponents Mielke out of office and to keep David Madore out of the commission's offices?

Now, because Leave-it is the democratian's butt-boy, full-time image rehab is the order of the day for this horrific rag and this punk.

You'll note there's mention of that sort of thing in Rice's kneepad job for Mayor Fraud.

So now, along comes The Liar with his bizarre pronouncement:

Leavitt urges tolling relief for some drivers

New I-5 bridge should include 'maximum consideration' for commuters

Tim Leavitt, at left, is mayor of Vancouver.
Tim Leavitt, at left, is mayor of Vancouver.

Vancouver Mayor Tim Leavitt on Tuesday sent a letter to state transportation officials, asking them to consider tolling relief for certain categories of drivers.
More:

The problem here for The Liar is, well, just that: he's a liar.

The slimerag known as the democratian makes no mention of Leave-it's up-coming campaign announcement, no mention of his past lies, no mention of the fraud that was his last election.

What's the matter, Stephanie... no paper trail?

The only presence in our community slimier than Leave-it's is the Columbian and the hacks reporting for it.

No mention this time that these decisions are out of local official's hands, that it's a done deal and that there's nothing Leave-it can do about it.

This is pure, political posturing.  It's the kind of despicable behavior our local megalomaniacal version of (and endorser of) Obama displays all too frequently.  It's a lie in a series of lies.

And the rag will support this stain on democracy's re-election because as utterly harmful and worthless as he's been... he's now their guy on that crime known as the CRC.

The reeking stench of Tim "The Liar" Leave-it

We all know by now what a lying scumbag the sorry excuse for a mayor Tim "The Liar" Leave-it became: working for a CRC contractor, he's been working for them like the 13th Amendment was never passed... and, of course, this slimeball has been working against US in the process.

On Valentine's day, this worm is going to let us in on his secret: whether or not he's going to hold himself up as a pinata for re-election.

As someone who takes some satisfaction out of beating the hell out of the corrupt, dishonest scum in government, I sincerely hope that he does run.  As a lying, steaming pile of crap, a Leave-it campaign will be entertaining and for the blogosphere, face it:

It would be fun.

Now, there's a good chance that any candidate of reasonable intelligence (meaning anyone opposed to the CRC scam) would likely beat that lying shit bag like a rented mule.

But Vancouver's not the easiest place to figure out: after all, they've elected the worst legislator in the state (Yeah, that's Moeller) repeatedly, and he sells them out, going so far as to sue his own constituents in court.

It's obvious they'll vote for a liar when he tells them what they want to hear... instead of telling them the truth.  But then, it's to our lasting misfortune that someone so in the tank for the special interests leaching us all dry was ever elected in the first place.

Tim "The Liar" Leave-it truly does not give a damn what the people want when it interferes with his agenda.

Here's the article: remember, with a proven scumbag like Leave-it running the show, some of his comments after the article, where he takes others to task for supporting this effort simply defy belief and actually achieve new levels of the rankest hypocrisy.  You will note that while challenging OTHERS to "learn the facts, " that weasel ignores them himself, being a willing victim of the CRC rip off... and by so doing, victimizing us all.

it starts wuith the lie that the issue "could not be discussed because it wasn't on the agenda."

Of course it could.  Why lie about it?

But it "couldn't be discussed" when Mayor McCheese didn't WANT to "discuss" it.

And that's because he's sick of hearing it, and will do everything he can to stop a vote on this subject.

After all, we mustn't listen to the people, right?

Light rail fight fizzles at Vancouver council meeting

Topic could not be discussed since it was not on agenda

A valuable lesson was learned Monday: Before announcing a public fight with the Vancouver City Council, check the meeting agenda.
What was billed by light rail opponent Debbie Peterson as a "Clash of the Titans," turned out to be nothing on Monday, because it was not one of the twice-monthly meetings that concludes with a citizens' forum. During the forums, people can talk for three minutes about whatever they want.
The "citizen communications" portion of Monday's meeting, which was clearly defined on the agenda, was only for people who wanted to comment on items on the council's agenda.
What was on the agenda? Reappointments of hearings examiners, a street vacation and the first reading of an ordinance relating to animal control.
What wasn't on the agenda? The Columbia River Crossing or the failed petition that Peterson's group wants the council to accept.
Peterson and other light rail opponents worked for more than two years to gather enough signatures to petition the council for a public vote on light rail.
In April 2012, they were told their effort failed. But under the Vancouver city charter, they were given extra time to collect additional signatures.
Last month, they learned their petition fell 32 signatures short of the 5,472-signature requirement.
More than 8,000 signatures were tossed, including all those from people who signed the petition multiple times.
Voters would have decided on a proposed ordinance that would have prohibited any city resources from being used to extend TriMet's MAX line from Portland to Vancouver.
The Clark County Auditor's Office rejected duplicate signatures based on state law governing city petitions. It says "signatures, including the original, of any person who has signed a petition two or more times shall be stricken."
Petitioners argue that state law isn't valid because it's in conflict with a 1977 Washington Supreme Court decision that says the name should count once. But that ruling was in response to a different state law governing the state petition process.

There are times, briefly, that I wished I lived in the Leave-it Ghetto.

But then, my brain actually gets oxygen, and, well, I once again thank God I'm not.

Look at the lying tripe Leave-it spews in the Facebook comments after the article.

It's just a damned shame that tar and feathers ever went out of fashion.
