The valuable service the Columbian provides, vetting and the GOP

The most recent hatchet job by the Lazy C is standard, we-hate-Benton-schlock they've been known for, literally, decades.

As I was scanning it and seeing it as yet another opportunity to beat the hell out of Benton (Note to Don:  Stop it.  Just stop it.  The rag will never be fair; they will never be even handed.  There is nothing you could ever do that would meet with their approval save for taking your own life.  Stop trying.  Stop holding yourself out there as the rag's piƱata. They still haven't gotten over Clinton's defeat, Trump's victory or your ascension to political heights they can't even dream of.  Just stop it.)
this time, an opportunity handed to them by their foil... the thought occurred to me that while the democratian is both a stain on the science of journalism AND a cancer to our community, they do serve a useful function:

They actually act as the vetting service we've needed for quite some time.

As voters, we can allow the rag to serve as the way and the light.

If this disgusting parable of a newspaper endorses... a candidate, a measure, a referendum...  then the thing to do is to simply ignore them and vote the opposite way.  I know I have and I will.

The rag has their agenda, which they wrongly believe to be far superior to that of the people of this county.

Thus, you can be lying scum like Rivers, and they will endorse you no matter what.

In 2018, presuming they are running, they will endorse Harris and Vick, because neither are conservatives and both serve the Columbian far better than they serve their constituents.

In 2020, they will endorse Wilson because her husband spends bank on ads for that rag (nifty bit of something coming perilously close to bribery, as I see it) AND, of course, the formerly conservative Wilson is now their lapdog... and she also will do their bidding.

Well, that and her husband's... but those things are far too much alike.

Wilson not only betrayed the people of this county with her CRC resurrection vote, she'll join with Rivers to screw us sideways by her failure to tell the Supreme Court to drop dead on their hysterical and completely bogus McCleary decision... again, representing the special interests instead of representing the people... a total sell out.

Rivers?  Well, we already know about Rivers.

I'm reminded of this old saw variously credited to Churchill, among many others:
“Churchill: "Madam, would you sleep with me for five million pounds?"
Socialite: "My goodness, Mr. Churchill... Well, I suppose... we would have to discuss terms, of course... "
Churchill: "Would you sleep with me for five pounds?"
Socialite: "Mr. Churchill, what kind of woman do you think I am?!"
Churchill: "Madam, we've already established that. Now we are haggling about the price”
In 2020, they will once again endorse Rivers because they haggled over price and eventually reached an agreement...

To me, then, THAT is the value... the service, if you will... provided by the local version of Pravda Izvestia:  whatever they want?

Do the opposite.  Oppose them at every turn.   They lie to us, they exaggerate to us, they twist the words of those who represent us and ignore the inconvenient truths that do not fit their meme.

They are our enemies... and as such, the rate the level of respect due an enemy.
