So, where are all the candidates for Councilor?

Well, here we are in the middle of the first month's implementation of the stupidity of the Charter.

We've got two elections coming up, one for seat 2 and one for countywide.

Where are the candidates?  What's the hold up?

Ann Rivers has announced for the county wide.  She'll win it, of course, but that's not the point.

Where's the rest?

Oh, we all saw the articles.  Marc Boldt claims he's running but he has zero chance with the CRC hanging around his neck among other things.

Tom Mielke has announced, but there doesn't seem much else to be going on there.

What about democrats like Gary Lucas or Betty Sue Morris?  How about Bob Dingethal? What about any of the democrats who got killed politically running last cycle?

I would LOVE to have Mussolini Mikey Briggs and/or Maureen "Bully" Winningham run. That would be a hoot.

Meanwhile, democrats are steaming because they know the likelihood of a countywide election win is right up there with a powerball win: no where.

With an all GOP county council under this hideous charter, and 12 out of 15 legislators under the GOP banner, prospects are dim indeed for the leftists around here.  Pummel them with their support of the CRC/Loot Rail scam so despised by county voters and, well, you can guess the outcome.

At this point, all signs pointed to a lively contest.  But then, Morris started reneging on the concept of a part-time council as she sniveled about Rivers running and keeping her Senate seat... and now, if Morris is to be believed, this suddenly full time gig may lead to large reductions in personal income for those who might be interested.

So, what could have been a great fray has suddenly turned into a yawner.

And no democrats are to be found.

With a total lack of local leadership and a completely tin political ear, the democrats are circling the drain at an even faster rate.

Imagine:  an election next November with no serious democrat running.

But then, the phrase "serious democrat" is the local political oxymoron.
