Some things never change.
One of the problems I have with Vick is that I was sure he'd mail it in.
And sure enough, he hasn't failed to disappoint in my prognostication.
Rep. Brandon Vick has raised $200 THIS YEAR.
The first year he was elected, everything was so hunky-dory that he failed to offer a single piece of legislation.
None.
His excuse was that it would be a waste of time, since he was buried so far in the minority. But in reality, that wasn't the cause: the cause was he was a brand-new Dad with a struggling business. There's only so many hours in the day.
In short, he met every one of my low expectations.
Now, he apparently seems to believe that since he's an incumbent, he can mail in his fund-raising effort as much as he's mailed in the rest of his tenure.
$200 on the other hand... that is unbelievably bad and has shown that since session ended, he's done absolutely nothing to raise money.
That kind of arrogance can be a dangerous thing.
Even his democrat opponent, Mussolini Mikey Briggs, has raised $2750, and he's worthless as candidates go.
Vick's tenure has been so sad that he's drawn a GOP opponent by the name of John Ley.
I like Ley. A true conservative, Ley has been working as an airline pilot in addition to campaigning... and while Vick has been blowing the campaign off, Ley has raised almost $8,000.
John is working it. The caricature (and the true story) of Vick showing up to fund raise lobbyists with cargo shorts, flip-flops and a t-shirt... resulting in some of those checks being torn up... is stuck in my mind.
I never wanted Brandon to be my representative because I knew he could not spend the time on the job that the job requires.
Sadly, that has been his modus operandi. And it's time for him to go.
