So, Jaime Herrera did the parade, complete with her political accessory: her baby.

Readers know that I simply cannot abide that woman.

There's a reason Congress has an 11 percent approval rating since it's populated by people like her... people who would put her own, seriously ill baby second to their going-nowhere fast political career.

I've been in politics a long time... much longer than, for example, Herrera has been allowed to vote.  I've seen some of the best politics has to offer (Our own two representatives from the 18th District, Sen. Ann Rivers and Rep. Liz Pike)  and some of the worst: Jaime Herrera and Brandon Vick come to mind... and that's just in the 18th District.

It is unfortunate that we have a congresswoman who puts her career ahead of her child.  Admittedly, it's unfortunate that we have her as our congresswoman under any circumstance, given how little she's accomplished in office, both in the legislature and in Congress.

But this woman, who governs by press release and is too cowardly to hold open town hall meetings because, well, let's face it, she ain't the brightest bulb on the congressional tree, has been shamelessly using that child since before she was born to further her own political career.

That she is even running for re-election is a testament to where her daughter fits on the family totem pole.  For me and for the vast majority of other parents, that location must be somewhere behind Herrera's political career... but unfortunately, it isn't.

Multiple newspaper and now, magazine articles... TV appearances and the like... and little to none of it because of Herrera's non-existent political courage or acumen.

Most of it because of her child... the child she wears and uses like a fashion accessory.

God only knows what that babies outcome in life is going to be: will she survive?  and if she grows into adulthood, will her mother's lack of attention and concern cause damage to her that will last a life time?

Who knows?  But watching that woman with that child, almost using it as a "vote for me!" banner is enough to sicken me.

That's not what a child is for.  But no one seems to have explained that to this overly ambitious, entirely focused on keeping her job to the exclusion of all else congresswoman we're stuck with.

Jaime's daughter will gain her some positive press as people are sympathetic.  But the baby will not make up for Herrera's lack of vision, her lack of intelligence, her lack of courage and the fact that she remains Cathy McMorris's doormat... since without McMorris, there'd be no Herrera.  And we'd be much better off without either of them.
