The basis for the Biden Administration:
“Necessity is the plea of every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.” – William Pitt.
The blog that NOBODY reads... but everyone gets upset about. The stories we want to read the least... but the ones we need to read the most.
One of the things I've learned about elective politics... up to and including the presidential level... is that we give many of those we elect far, far too much credit.
That said, Obama has, in fact, counted on our stupidity. It is the core of both his presidency and his re-election campaign.
What was it that Clinton ran on?
"It's the economy, stupid."
I, for one, long for the days of the Bush 1 economy. Compared to Obama's train wreck... which he REPEATEDLY promised to fix... the Bush 1 economy is the Holy Grail.
So, this man in the White House is, effectively, peeing on our legs and telling us it's rain.
Answer to question #1: Yes.
Answer to question #2: No. He likely took bad advice from an equally disconnected group of yes people he's surrounded himself with... but HE is the Captain of this ship, just like Nixon was the Captain of HIS. And both Nixon... AND Obama are absolutely responsible for their outcomes.
Take all the credit? You get all the blame.
He desperately needed a Gergen. Instead, he got an Axlerod.
Answer to question #3: Until that lying son-of-a-bitch tells the truth, yeah.
I have been writing throughout Obama's tenure that he has the tinnest ear in politics. He views the Constitution and the laws he's sworn to uphold as his own personal toilet paper (for example, his edict to force ICE to allow 1,000,000 MORE illegals into our workforce in obvious violation of our laws) and that he would lie, and have his own people lie for days about this issue for some bogus and untenable political gain, fits entirely into the realm of the probable... and that's his OWN fault.
It's a damned shame that the people of this country right now don't recoil at the thought of a president lying so much, so obviously and so loudly. That most see this course of events as not only possible but probable is the shame of it.
When you lie as much as this man has lied to us, what happens when he needs us to believe him?
3. No. The practical reality is that when your presidency has been the disaster that Obama's has been, the fact is you'll do ANYTHING to avoid talking about your OWN record... and there is no doubt that the left would have used Bush to deflect from that discussion... except, of course, for one thing:
Bush ain't running.
4. Don't think so, Martin. I just think it's one's point of view that's the difference.

Usually I can suss the basis of Conservative argument but this stumps me?
1) Is your point that Obama is so stupid that he never thought anyone would catch on that he was lying until after the election?
2) Or is it that he's simply stupid and was fooled?
3) Or is this just a bone you'll only gnaw until the election is over?
I can’t follow the logic… I’m probably stupid too?

Benghazi.
Yikers!
If God tells you to invade Iraq, is that stupid?
If your term ends in TARP, is that stupid?
If you're the first past president not invited to the Republican convention, is that stupid?
We must have different definitions of "stupid"?

Okay, I agree with those 4 points.
