Nearly 1 in 5 election ballots returned in Clark County
Wednesday, October 24, 2012
Nearly one in five ballots mailed to registered voters in Clark County have been filled out and returned to the elections office.
On Oct. 15, the Clark County Elections Department mailed out more than 241,000 ballots to registered voters in the county. As of Wednesday afternoon, about 42,000 made it back to the elections office.
So far, voter turnout is similar when compared to the 2008 general election. By this same time in 2008, about 44,000 ballots had been returned in Clark County.
The office of the Secretary of the State predicts a 81 percent voter turnout statewide in the 2012 general election. In 2008, general election turnout was 84.6 percent.
Ballots in the Nov. 6 vote-by-mail general election must be postmarked by Nov. 6. Ballots also can be returned to several drop-off locations throughout the county by no later than 8 p.m. Nov. 6.
For more information, go online to Clark County Elections or call the elections department at 360-397-2345.
The boldfaced babble above is, of course, dead wrong: the first 4 days of ballot returns (through today)
November 6, 2012
General Election
Total Ballots Mailed 241,107
Voted Ballots
Date Received Daily
10/19/2012 12,073
10/22/2012 10,626
10/23/2012 11,237
10/24/2012 8,384
General Election
Total Ballots Mailed 241,107
Voted Ballots
Date Received Daily
10/19/2012 12,073
10/22/2012 10,626
10/23/2012 11,237
10/24/2012 8,384
So, while 42,000 or so votes have been returned by today, in 2008's general election, the number was roughly 50% of that figure:
November 4, 2008Total Ballots Mailed 216,508
General Election
Date Voted Ballots
Rec'd Daily
Oct 17 482
Oct 20 1,715
Oct 21 12,172
Oct 22 6,944
As anyone can see, the number of ballots returned so far is roughly twice as many as 2008.
For the rag to be this wrong, while the sort of mistake we've come to expect from those clowns, it's inexplicable.
The question?
What does this massive turn out mean? Is it good news for the left, or the right?
Given the well-known enthusiasm gap and distaste for the left... this likely can't be good for the dems.
