A radical idea for politicians: keep your promises, or get out.

The election of Barack Obama has proven many things, not the least of which is that there's a sucker born every minute and two to take him.

So.... what about this?

When a politician runs for office... any office, at any level... or makes a promise of any kind while IN office... they sign a contract with the electorate that outlines their promises and a schedule with time limits to keep them.

Let's take a simple promise from Obama:

"Elect me and I will close Guantanamo in my first year."

OK.

Is it closed?

Don't think so.  Was that a promise?  Or a lie?  Either way and under any review, it was untrue.

Then, when he failed to keep that promise, under my plan, he would have been out of office on January 20, 2010.  Likely, he'd have been out long before that, given his promise list.

Imagine.

Imagine what would happen to campaigns if those lying to us as a part of their campaigns or their tenure were IMMEDIATELY held accountable.

Even here locally, imagine how different the scum campaign of Tim Leave-it would have been if he knew that having built a campaign on his fake opposition to tolls, he would have remained steadfast in that opposition instead of using that fake promise to get elected only to cast it aside... as this writer knew he would.

Politicians would HAVE to address issues.  They would be FORCED to work together to solve our problems... instead of providing fantasy solutions based on pandering to the special interests who own so many now.

Imagine.
