Commissioners need to set the example and refuse their pay increase.

.
The democratian is reporting an almost $4000 pay raise for the county commissioners... and an increase of $100 per month for their car allowance to a paltry $600 per month.

Now would be an excellent time for those leading this county to set the example they should be expecting of everyone else, and refuse their pay increase... while, in fact, voluntarily taking an additional pay cut.

Steve "Easy Money" Stuart, of course, snivels that "they" are "doing more work."

While few have worked harder to screw more people longer than Stuart, like all government employees, he needs to understand that we are in a horrific recession and his wise handling of the local economy has played a major role in our over 13% unemployment rate.

As always, if the work is too hard or Stuart feels too underpaid, he can feel free to quit. We won't miss him.

The commissioners MUST set the example; they MUST pay at least 15% of their health care premium, they must refuse their pay increases and they must refuse their car allowances, filing a mileage report just like everyone else.

THAT is the example the people have come to expect, particularly from Republicans. As corrupt as Stuart is, there's no way he'll do the right thing when he can personally benefit.

What happened to Mielke's offer to accept a wage decrease along with the others he made just last week?

You know, I have no idea. I'm thinking I'll have to ask him about that.
