While it seemed like forever ago, South Carolina US Sen. Lindsey Graham was actually a presidential candidate.
He gained all of the traction of a quart jar of strawberry jelly sliding down an ice-covered hill… And he was one of the first to drop out, since he had become the ultimate in all things RINO and couldn't get any support.
The talking heads were showing video of this moron, telling the world that "… we should have kicked Trump out of the party a long time ago."
It wasn't that long ago that when the local GOP did kick a fake Republican out of the party by the name of Marc Boldt... and even looked at kicking out a fake Republican by the name of Jaime Herrera... that teeth were gnashed, garments were rent, they were vilified... for doing that very thing?
Odd isn't it? When RINOs don't like a person, it's perfectly okay to kick them out of the party if they don't happen to agree with you, or do what you want them to do, or see things your way, or hold those they despise accountable by tossing them out… But not so much when it's the other way around.
I was struck by the irony of that observation by Sen. Graham, and how it could be applied here… By the establishment group that is no longer in power and hasn't been in power for quite some time… Where they are attempting to exert control as if it was all theirs to take.
What happened here is essentially a popular uprising where the Republican base is made their feelings known: they are sick of being played, sick of being lied to, sick of being ignored… That's what put the current regime together here locally and we now see a variation of that theme countrywide.
And this, now, is what we see as a result of that.
Ultimately, I hope the insurgency is successful and that Trump becomes the nominee for the GOP.
Not because I have any great love for the man, although I freely admit that I support many of his positions.
But for no other reason than to send a message to the scum that are running the GOP nationally, and attempting to run it here locally.. And that message is this: we do not work for you… You, work for us.
Certainly, if Trump is successful in the upcoming election, that message will have been sent. Of course, like the local establishment types, the current establishment that's running the GOP will not receive the message… Because they refuse to receive any message that doesn't fit their agenda, their worldview, were their vision for a leftist society.
To that end, this comes across like something of a Pyrrhic victory. much like getting rid of Boehner as Speaker of the House as proven to be a worthless move, given that most of the House leadership there with him remains in place; a Trump victory will only represents progress to the extent that the GOP becomes dramatically more responsive to the base if those running the GOP are summarily dismissed and removed from party control by a newly energized base.
Does anyone have any faith that anything like that will happen?
Win or lose the curse of the GOP will remain in place: and that is that the Establishment believes itself to be far superior to anybody who's not a member… And they will do everything they can to ignore the rank-and-file that make up the GOP across the nation generally and certainly here in Clark County specifically.
