ICYMI: The Port of Ridgefield puts another coat of lipstick on a pig.

It never ends.

The headline in the Tuesday waste of woodpulp?  (Polluting my mailbox)

Port of Ridgefield to buy back property.

As you might expect, Elie Kassab as at the bottom of this... and the Port is dancing to his tune.

According to the democratian, who seems to cheerfully support every deal Kassab gets (Never mind that none of US would get these kinds of considerations) Kassab bought 10.5 acres of land in the Port.

Kassab paid $1.42 million for it in May of 2014.  I have no idea if it's worth that or not.  And in reality, that's not the point of this post:

The point is this:  He's now selling it back to the Port in a deal that will net him a cool $150,000 over the original purchase price.

The reason?

Because KASSAB failed to keep HIS end of the deal, which included a requirement, according to the daily democrat, that Kassab make "significant progress" by this September on construction of a 100,000 square-foot industrial building, or face a $1 million performance penalty.

So, instead of holding Kassab to the requirements of the contract, which would have netted the taxpayers of the Port of Ridgefield $1 million, they not only are letting him off the hook... they're giving him $150,000 for his trouble!

That, ladies and gentlemen, is worth repeating:

Instead of holding Kassab to the requirements of the contract, which would have netted the taxpayers of the Port of Ridgefield $1 million, they not only are letting him off the hook... they're giving him $150,000 for his trouble!

Think Lying Lefty Lou Brancaccio will rip a strip off of the Port or Kassab for this apparent corruption?

I'm not sure I can blame them, though.  After all, the allegedly GOP-controlled Senate did the exact same thing for the slime behind the lie of the pot initiative.

Those scum lied their asses off about the revenue they promised to the state if only this would pass... a paltry $582 million PER YEAR, a number we have yet to come close to... by a factor of roughly 90%.

Instead of holding the lie of a pot scam accountable, the GOP Senate cut their taxes in half... and because Oregon and the street market will continue to clobber these clowns, not even half... $291 million.... will ever go to the state, or any number close to that.

Meanwhile, the millionaires behind the pot scam will continue to buy politicians and then force them to do their bidding.  Expect further cuts in the future... further reductions in the amount of taxes these scum promised.

In the face of that kind of corruption, why shouldn't the Port let Kassab off the hook?
