The vast majority of scum behind the CRC/Loot Rail scam, who would rarely have ever used the idiocy of the CRC/Loot Rail scam had it ever been built did not and do not care about that pesky toll issue.
Here is what our future would have been.
Tolls for the Tacoma Narrows Bridge have tripled since it opened in 2007.
Read this article. Heed it. Understand it. And remember: the special interests like Thompson Metal Fab who stood to pocket $100 million plus from this deal would likely not have had to suffer the consequences from it that your average commuter, going over that bridge to the tune of roughly $2000 per year would have felt had this massive waste of billions and a 40 year minimum on ever increasing tolls ever been implemented.
And this is just the start:
Rhetorically speaking, of course.
I think.
Meanwhile, the local leftists continue to throw various hissy-fits in their struggle to keep their massive fraud alive, including attacking any alternative provided without, of course, giving up one of their own.
I support the East County concept because nothing else seems to be out there of any weight. We need at least 4 bridges crossing the Columbia and we have to start somewhere. We also need a bridge to the west of the I-5 Bridge.
After those 2 things happen, then we can take a look at replacing the I-5 Bridge, sans loot rail, after the two new bridges are built.
And if tolls are required?
They'd damned sure better come up with a better plan than the Tacoma Narrows idiocy that should have resulted with people going to prison.
Not unlike, come to think of it, our own CRC rip off down here.

State Department of Transportation officials explained the toll fund is projected to be short $5.7 million for the fiscal year beginning July 1 and $16.7 million the next year. That will have to be made up through higher rates, which are now $4.50 for electronic payment, $5.50 at the booths and $6.50 for pay by mail. These tolls started some 8 years ago at $1.50 and $3.00.
And this is just the start:
Rates need to keep being raised because construction bonds keep increasing until they’re paid off in 2030. Next year they’ll jump 16 percent, and 15 percent more the year after. It goes without saying that whoever agreed to this kind of deal should be shot.
