Kudos to the commissioners on the pot ban.

So, I've been reading the comments under the article in the democratian.  It appears to me that many of them stand as testimony to the fact that pot causes brain damage.

As I have been saying since the beginning, pot is still illegal in this state.

Let me write that again:

Pot is still illegal in this state.

It is, in fact, illegal in EVERY state and that includes this state as well as Colorado.

That those who support the pot industry and consumption lied their way into getting the people to vote for this scam and the vote, which won statewide but lost in Clark County, was absolutely meaningless in the face of the federal Supremacy Clause:  (Article Six, Clause 2)
This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the constitution or laws of any state to the contrary notwithstanding.
"Laws of any state to the contrary notwithstanding."

The "why" of it is obvious.  Possession, use and sale of pot is a violation of federal law.

It was a violation of federal law before I-502 passed and it was a violation of federal law after it passed... and it remains a violation of federal law now, today.

The fans of pot commenting under the article in question really don't care about that: they want to get wasted when and how they want to get wasted, laws be damned.

The commissioners, who swore an oath to uphold both state and federal law take a somewhat different view... and rightfully so.

Those who don't believe they can actually live without yet another way to fry their brains do have an out, but I must have missed it: seen any real movement in Congress to repeal the federal drug laws making this illegal?

Of course not.

But that's the solution, boys and girls: you want to smoke your brains inside out, well, bully for you.  Get the law changed at the federal level and you can do some business.

Otherwise, kudos to Commissioners Madore and Mielke who stood up for their oaths and the laws of this nation... potheads be damned.

Establishment Conservatives tout states rights unless they disagree with them. Then the Fed reigns supreme. Go figure. Ron Paul is God.

As CRC made Madore, so shall being anti-pot undo him. I can't think of anything more effective to get the masses voting. Are you sure this is who Conservatives want sending in their vote-by-mail ballots?

I'm sorry, Bob but the phrase "establishment conservatives" is an oxymoron.

It's not a matter of "disagreement." I'm not taking any advocacy [position for anything save for the Constitution.

And while Ron Paul may be YOUR God, I hardly believe that very many people not in the cult agree with your observation.

Really? Try again, Martin:

Further, I-502 lost here in Clark County.

People will vote their wallets before they vote their dope. And Madore was a major reason why that idiotic CRC did not get built, and no democrat running can disavow it... which means they lose county wide or even district wide if that hideous charter manages to pass.

Please do tell mighty "Establishment Leg", that time in human history when prohibition worked?

Well, since I've got no idea what or who you are or what the name thing is, I guess I'll have to pass on a discussion.

"I can explain it to you but I cannot understand it for you."

Kelly, we'll see... (Dinner?)

However, it's kind of an unfair bet to you because without CRC, Madore may fall anyway.

LEG - Low Energy Ground soldier - Non Airborne types --- ewww :)

from someone you call just another "Paulbot".

K.J. Hinton said...

The "Leg" part I freely admit to. But then, I also admit to the Infantry and Cavalry part, while realizing that "Airborne" ain't nothing but a way to get there.

As for the PaulBot type casting, that much was obvious. But I still don't do "anonymous."

The problem, Martin, is for the foreseeable future, no democrat running (except you) would be able to show a history of opposition to the CRC.

The vulnerability to the question: Did you/Do you support the CRC.... did you/Do you oppose the will of the people and their ability to vote on the issues.... are you someone who ascribes to the Steve Stuart school of thought... that you only represent yourself instead of the people... Those things are going to be absolute killers outside the 49th and countywide.

I don't believe the charter has a chance in hell of passing, because it isn't even a subtle attempt for the left to retake the county commission... or, in the alternative, to weaken the ability of those elected to actually govern.

I'd make Cav jokes, but since they would be coming from an 11B they might be too highbrow.

K.J. Hinton said...

Well, Marc, having been one, they can't be all that difficult.

Odd that you just didn't use your name. What are you afraid of?

svxr8dr said...

Why do you think I'm afraid? I'm just logged in with my Google account. Why so paranoid? Your new found taste for Federal Supremacy got you flustered? Relax Custer, so you had an episode of hypocrisy, Your'e only Human. Once again please do start touting all the success stories in recorded human history of prohibition. I'll wait. :)

Christ on a bike, Lein, you should be PROUD of your statements. No one else shooting off their mouth here felt compelled to hide who their are... just you.

I have precisely zero paranoia. I also have no time for jerks. And you are out of here.
