From the "did they learn anything" file on the CRC: The democratian? Nope.

Along with others, I've been asking the question: have the CRC Scammers learned anything from their crushing defeat?

Nope.

Not one of the major players have admitted they've screwed up.  Not one has apologized.  Not one has presented an alternative.  Not one has acknowledged that public support needs to be a requirement for any "mega-project" in this county.  Not one has admitted they lied, exaggerated, insulted, ignored and exhibited arrogance that would have shamed Mussolini.  In fact, few, if any of the CRC Scammers have acknowledged this massive defeat at all; for example, the democrat web site doesn't even mention it.  The various idiotic CRC cheerleading sites?

Not a peep.

No introspection.  No unbiased examination of what went wrong and how to avoid it in the future.

Included in that list is the despised local daily, the democratian.

In their latest sewage leak, there's no mention of the part they played in this drama, no acknowledgement that 80% of the legislators in this county voted against this scam, no concern for the commuters... just an on going restatement of the now thoroughly disproven talking points.

They call the only real idea that makes any sense, adding additional bridges, "misguided."  Additional bridges as an idea, of course, is the only thing that makes any sense.  The idea of additional bridges are far LESS "misguided" than the CRC Scam these clowns shilled for, lied about and attacked people over.

They go on:
Therein lies the problem. By catering, out of necessity, to multiple governmental agencies — two states, several transportation entities, numerous constituencies, etc. — the CRC was doomed to feature a design by committee. There is no conceivable way in which to please all the interested parties and all the stakeholders in the project.
Thus, the moronic idea wrapped in a group of downtown mafia idiots that we should squabble over the table scraps off Oregon's table, bend over and take whatever those slime want to ram up our... well, you get the drift.

Of course, there's only one "stakeholder" that MUST be "pleased," and the CRC Scammers along with this rag never, ever remembered that responsibility: they MUST please "the people."

A bankrupt newspaper substituting their all-knowing, all-seeing, all-everything perspective for the will of the people is not and never has been the way to go.

Like the rest of the scum shilling the CRC Scam, the Lazy C would have us accept a piss-poor project in lieu of no project at all.

And "no project" will always be superior to wasting billions on a steaming pile like the CRC.
Yes, the CRC could have been more effective and more efficient. It is frustrating to consider that, years into the project, it needed to be redesigned because the bridge height was inadequate. It is maddening to think that more than $170 million has been spent on planning for what now amounts to nothing.
It's even MORE maddening that our local daily never did or wrote anything to hold those in charge of this debacle accountable.

They talked about how much it sucked on occasion, but they never called for firings, or getting rid of the scum at DEA, or taking any other step to address the many and obvious problems confronting this rip off.

They never supported the compromise positions of striping loot rail off the scam, raising the height so we wouldn't have wasted hundreds of millions on mitigation and that sort of thing.

They've never attempted to explain how replacing 3 through lanes with 3 through lanes would have the wonderful results that asswipe Molehill babbles about:
"...we are at a critical juncture with the possibility of even greater overseas investment.  Instead, we have said to Canada and California and Louisiana that we are unwilling to invest in our future or the future of this state so please, come and take business from us."
As if any company out there would look at a new 6 lane bridge that'll force them to pay ever-increasing tolls for the next 40 years plus and say "wow!  that's the kind of idiotic thinking that appeals to me!"  Because if they are, then we don't want them here anyway.

The rag goes on to whine:
But we have yet to hear any proposals for how the project can be more effectively carried out the next time around. The definition of insanity, it is often said, is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. We're in favor of avoiding insanity the next time the powers that be begin talking about such a project.
Like most of those shilling the CRC Scam, they have no difficulty lying when it suits them.

Like the paragraph above.

There have been a wide variety of proposals put on the table: all were rejected because none of them contained the loot rail element that started this scam in the first place.  For this cancer on our community to claim that "they "have yet to hear?"

That's a flat out lie, given that almost any idea would have been better, faster, cheaper and accomplished more than the pig slop they've been shilling for over a decade.

No, the newspaper was as vested in this loser as they were the ballpark scam.

Instead of doing what newspapers are supposed to do, they substituted opinion for news.  They censored the message, they deliberately lied and overlooked a growing opposition.  They kept the public from knowing all the facts (It's been 16 months plus since the Oregon Supreme Court's gutting of the lies the CRC Scammers were selling us, all without a peep from the rag)  No... what they did is attack, belittle and hammer on those wise enough to oppose their rip off.

Like me.

Fortunately, the second-biggest scumbag at the Lazy C is leaving... in fact, that turd may have already left.

And John... you won't be missed.

Meanwhile, the rag keeps trying to bite it's own tail.  Along with the CRC Scammers like CRUDEC, the Chamber of Horrors, Identity Vancouver and the like, few lost more credibility than Brancaccio and the democratian.

Clearly, he learned nothing from his stupidity.
