Actually, the freeholder elections will be partisan.
There will be two different groups that will matter, and it's not "democrat" or "Republican."
Instead, the two groups will consist of those opposing the CRC Scam and those moronic enough to support it.
Those opposing this scam will get elected, those supporting that stupidity won't, at least in any numbers that make any difference.
Just ask Marc Boldt and Joe Tanner.
My own personal preference would be for independent conservatives.
1. I'm all for expanding the county commission to five, as long as the overall cost of pay and benefits doesn't go up with it.
2. I support a review petition system that would make any county or city decision reviewable by the voters... and suspended until the voters approve it if it concerns bonding so that the Sound Transit dodge of, "oh, we're sorry, we know we lied out our asses to you about costs, but we've already bonded this rip-off. Sorry!"
There would be, say, a 30 day period where expenditures and tax increases would be halted to give the citizens time to file a petition, and then they would be suspended until the outcome of the next election, if citizens can turn in a low number of signatures... say, 1% of the last presidential election to qualify for the ballot in, oh, 90 days or so.
Other ideas will pop up, but these are a start.
