Herrera goes into full-court stall mode: calls for a "study" of a CRC that's been studied to DEATH.

In continuing the utter fraud that Jaime Herrera actually opposes the CRC scam, we see this worthless eyewash:

The $3.5 billion Columbia River Crossing project would replace the existing Interstate 5 Bridge.
The $3.5 billion Columbia River Crossing project would replace the existing Interstate 5 Bridge.

U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, and three other House Republicans on Wednesday called for a full study of the economic impacts of Columbia River Crossing, citing "continued concerns" with the $3.5 billion megaproject.
In a letter to the U.S. Coast Guard, the lawmakers highlighted navigation and commerce worries for river users upstream of the proposed Interstate 5 Bridge replacement.
Squeezing those operations would mean millions of dollars in lost revenue for Columbia River manufacturers, they said, plus extra costs for mitigation.
"We cannot cavalierly dismiss the impacts to the businesses, current and future, which depend upon the free flow of river commerce to survive," the letter read. "Neither can we dismiss the impacts to our local economy, nor the jobs that would cease, should these companies be forced to relocate or close their doors."
In addition to Herrera Beutler, the letter was signed by eastern Washington Reps. Cathy McMorris Rodgers and Doc Hastings, plus Idaho Congressman Raul Labrador.
The Coast Guard must approve a bridge permit for the CRC to move forward. Project leaders expected to finalize a permit application for a 116-foot-high fixed span this week. The current I-5 Bridge allows for as much as 178 feet of clearance when lifted.
More:

What a total and complete crock.

Herrera is continuing her "I'm looking out for you scam," with this kind of "watch the shiny object" misdirection.

What, PRECISELY, does this letter DO?

WHAT, PRECISELY, does this letter ACCOMPLISH?

Absolutely nothing.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the quintessential example of a deliberate attempt to make you believe that this woman is actually engaged in an action... as opposed to her engaging in a motion that is designed to make YOU (And David Madore) BELIEVE she is actually DOING SOMETHING.

She isn't.

This steaming pile doesn't require a "full study."  What it requires is a federal grand jury investigation.

She didn't even ask for THAT.

People, do not be fooled.  Do not be congratulatory.  We've wasted the better part of $200 million on this scam which has made a select few very wealthy and enriched the downtown mafia immeasurably at our expense.

This letter is shucking and jiving at it's finest.  And nothing more.

Do not be deceived.  Until or unless Herrera introduces a bill to strip the federal funding out of this rip off, and makes sure that the funding is NOT available (which she, by herself, CAN do) she has done and accomplished absolutely nothing.

This "effort," using the term euphemistically, is worthless.

Kelly, you might consider writing Raul with the facts of this situation. If he got his information from Jamie and Cathy, perhaps his information is incomplete.

Kriss - If any one kindly looks it up, he's from Idaho representation, which sends a lot of grain food and other stuff down and up the Columbia River. So Raul might have some semblence of information backing him.

But you might be right. He might need some more information passed to him to inform him of what is going on. -- Jeremy
