As 9/11 approaches, I'm torn about the Muslim thing.

.
So, we find ourselves in the midst of a little bruhaha about some morons building a mosque in the middle of Ground Zero and an idiot in Florida planning on burning some copies of the quran.

Big whoop.

We just had a group of westerners... doctors and other aid workers, slaughtered in Afghanistan because they were trying to help and they happened to be the wrong religion... that is to say, they weren't taliban muslim.

The sturm and drang of these two issues far outweighs the hypocrisy of those concerned about how the muslim world views the majority American positions on these issues.

Can muslims build a mosque at ground zero?

Of course they can.

Can Christians build a Cathedral in downtown Riyadh?

Of course they can't.

So why is it that we pay any attention to those whining, bitching and moaning about the fact that Americans, as a whole, will be mortally offended if a mosque is built where thousands of us were slaughtered by the followers of this peculiar religion; while remaining silent on the total religious oppression and slaughter practiced throughout the muslim world against those who are either not muslim at all, or the wrong variety of the religion in question?

We fret and cry "racism..... bigotry!" at the thought that maybe, just maybe... these idiots shouldn't build a mosque where thousands of us were killed... a construction that will be wildly celebrated throughout the muslim world as some sort of twisted "victory" over the Great Satan.

But we remain silent in the face of unimaginable religious persecution practiced by those in charge of the muslim world.

So, an empty-headed, blithering idiot is going to burn a few copies of the quran. So what?

Those who practice this religion have SLAUGHTERED people because they had bibles. They've burned them, defaced them, and put people in jail or worse merely because they HAD bibles.

So, at the end of the day, my level of concern over those morons who want to build a mosque where so many of us died is precisely the same as THEIR level of concern over the Christian's LEGAL inability to build a church, or even publicly discuss any religion outside of the muslim religion in any muslim country.

Their rank hypocrisy avails them nothing. Build it and be damned. But until these slimeballs begin to protest the oppression of non-muslims in muslim countries around the planet, I could care less what they say or what they think.

Those who hate us and despise everything we stand for don't need an excuse to want to kill us or destroy this nation. Expressing outrage at the deliberate provocation of a mosque built in the midst of where they spilled a sea of our blood will not add to that. Pictures of burning books will not add to that.

They can only kill someone once. And I sincerely doubt that we'll ever see an interview where anyone says "Oh, yeah... I was just a peace-loving, normal guy until I heard that Americans got upset about building a mosque where 19 of my brethren slaughtered 3,000 of them one day. Only then did I decide to become a blood-thirsty terrorist, looking to behead any Christian I happened to come across."

But the focus should not be on our outrage at such thoughtlessness on the part of those practicing the "Religion of Peace" (tm). Instead, it should be on their LACK of outrage over THEIR religious oppression, inculcated in every fiber of the muslim culture.

As soon as I see evidence about their concern over that... then, perhaps, I'll consider some of my own concern over these issues, relative to this minor fender-bender that seems to be sucking so much air out of the room... air that we seem incapable of breathing when it comes to THEIR side of the issue.
