Clark County Democratic Party reverses course on endorsements
It will not endorse candidates in local, nonpartisan primary races
Tuesday, July 9, 2013
The Clark County Democratic Party decided not to make endorsements in nonpartisan races for the primary election after all.
The move had drawn criticism from those who argued it would distort the nonpartisan nature of city council positions, even though the Clark County Republican Party is taking sides in local races.
"There was some consternation among the membership about taking this step. It's against our settled tradition," said Mike Heywood, the local Democratic Party chairman.
The Clark County Democratic Party's bylaws prohibit endorsements in nonpartisan races, but he and others urged the party to suspend those rules to take a more active role in local council races.
The local Democratic Party's Central Committee had already decided not to endorse in every race, but on Monday night abandoned a plan to endorse in the races for Vancouver council seats occupied by Jeanne Stewart and Jeanne Harris.
More:Heywood said the committee evaluated challengers but decided the races were "too close to call."
Here's the reality:
The democrat band is even more screwed up than the GOP (if that's possible) so to endorse anyone is to kill their chances... particularly in the small towns.
Fringe left morons like Mike Dalesandro? The last thing he needs in addition to his fringe-left politics is for the dems to highlight his idiocy by endorsing him.
And, this:
Heywood said the committee evaluated challengers but decided the races were "too close to call."That's a euphemism for "we looked at them and decided they all sucked, so there was no point in it."
What's even more fascinating is that Heywood seems to know how damaged the local leftists are:
"We intended to get involved in the nonpartisan races, and we have done that by interviewing candidates," Heywood said.Wow. Talking to candidates (some of them, anyway) equals "getting involved."
Who knew?
So, read between the lines, kids. One local party is diving in head first (A mistake for reasons I've already stated) and the other is afraid of the water so they're backing off the beach.
Why do you suppose that is, again?

Advisory boards are not always a good thing. The C-Tran citizen advisory board has none other than Mike Yancey on it. That pathetic chump frequently posts on the Columbian site. He can barely compose a simple sentence. He strikes me as the village idiot. It seems like he has nothing better to do than go joyriding on Max. He wanted the CRC to be built as his new playtoy.
