If only Allen West was our congressman: West bitch slaps Wasserman-Schultz

.
Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is a typically gutless democrat congressman.  And this time, it blew up in her face like a well-paced IED.

Allen West metaphorically bitch-slaps Debbie Wasserman-Schultz

And a well-deserved metaphorical bitch-slapping it was (brought to you courtesy of the DNC public relations arm known as Politiho).

Florida GOP Congressman Allen West this afternoon dispatched a scathing personal email to Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, calling her "vile, unprofessional ,and despicable," "a coward," "characterless," and "not a Lady," and demanding that she "shut the heck up."

Wasserman Schultz, in whose neighboring South Florida district West lives, provoked his tirade with remarks after he left the House floor today, in which she responded -- without naming him -- to the Tea Party freshman's support for "Cut, Cap, and Balance" legislation to raise the debt ceiling.

"The gentleman from Florida. who represents thousands of Medicare beneficiaries, as do I, is supportive of this plan that would increase costs for Medicare beneficiaries, unbelievable from a Member from South Florida," Wasserman Schultz said, saying the legislation "slashes Medicaid and critical investments essential to winning the future in favor of protecting tax breaks for Big Oil, millionaires, and companies who ship American jobs overseas."

Her criticism of the legislation -- more or less what most Democrats are saying today -- provoked a furious response. West copied members of House Republican and Democratic leadership on the email, as well as his chief-of-staff, Jonathan Blyth.

Look, Debbie, I understand that after I departed the House floor you directed your floor speech comments directly towards me. Let me make myself perfectly clear, you want a personal fight, I am happy to oblige. You are the most vile, unprofessional ,and despicable member of the US House of Representatives. If you have something to say to me, stop being a coward and say it to my face, otherwise, shut the heck up. Focus on your own congressional district!

I am bringing your actions today to our Majority Leader and Majority Whip and from this time forward, understand that I shall defend myself forthright against your heinous characterless behavior……which dates back to the disgusting protest you ordered at my campaign hqs, October 2010 in Deerfield Beach.

You have proven repeatedly that you are not a Lady, therefore, shall not be afforded due respect from me!

Steadfast and Loyal

Congressman Allen B West (R-FL)

Wasserman-Schultz is -- provably -- a Marxist hack. She is unconcerned with her constituents and seniors in particular. According to its Chief Actuary, Medicare is set to collapse in just ten short years. Instead of working to save it, this ludicrous excuse for a politician instead demonizes Paul Ryan's courageous plan and the heroic Rep. Allen West.

Instead of working to save Medicare, she intones platitudes like "shared sacrifice", "winning the future" and "giving tax breaks to big oil and millionaires."

Hey, idiot: it's not "big oil and millionaires" that destroyed Medicare: it's you. You're an embarrassment, Debbie. And I can't wait until Allen West is House Speaker; I hope he puts your office in the basement with Melvin and his red stapler.

Hat tip: Ace o' Spades.

MY H/T to the ubiquitous Doug Ross @ Journal.

Our local member of Congress can't even handle a ferret like Tim "The Liar" Leavitt.  West would have dropped him in his tracks by now... and Herrera runs away and hides.

Sigh.

What I don't get is why Allen West didn't just debate her? Respond to her accusations, state his position and give his evidence for why that stance is what his constituents both want and need? Isn't that what you're supposed to do? Isn't that how you actually fight back against democrats? Isn't that what all politicians are supposed to do, rather than just resort to name calling? Isn't that what Debbie did here?

As far as I know, she waited to unleash her tirade until after he was gone from the floor. Hard to debate an empty chair... and what I believe SHE should have done is wait until West was actually on the floor. Then they actually could have "debated" if it came to that.

Ultimately, like most of her babble, her allegations against West were so patently false and over the top, that "debates" probably have no place in her equation.

DW-S has a rep as perhaps one of the most divisive party hacks in congress. As her district in Florida borders West's, she even organized a protest to take place at his district campaign office.

Her positions were essentially DNC talking points, not surprising since she's the Chair of the Democratic National Committee.

Respond to her accusations, state his position and give his evidence for why that stance is what his constituents both want and need?

Responding to her bizarre allegations Lends credence to them. It's not unlike another legendary Floridian's nonsense, now thankfully former Congressman Alan Grayson, who's main claim to fame is his statement that the GOP's health care plan was to have you die "faster."

Isn't that what you're supposed to do? Isn't that how you actually fight back against democrats?

I can't actually speak for LTC West, but I can tell you this:

When you fight a war... and one side is determined to fight it by the "rules" and the other side is determined to fight it by ignoring the "rules," the side living by the rules will almost always lose.

The number two guy in the senate, Dick Durbin from Illinois, started this kind of nonsense by equating the US Army with Nazis on the floor of the US Senate.

He should have been immediately expelled. When he wasn't, the message went out that you could say or do practically anything... civility, integrity and honor be damned.

DWS just was the last straw on a war that SHE picked and has been going on for several months.

Ultimately, Mr. West's constituents will determine their own wants and needs, but my guess is he will have no trouble being re-elected.

Isn't that what all politicians are supposed to do, rather than just resort to name calling?

Good question. Perhaps the pattern was set by politicians in the past. Maybe if, for example, you ran a google search checking out leftist politicians remarks about GW Bush, you might see the pattern emerge.

What I'm missing here, and maybe it's because I admit to my own biases, is any concern about DWS's remarks and about how inappropriate THEY were... and are.

Isn't that what Debbie did here?

No. What DWS did here is use Allen West as a pinata... and in this case, the pinata swung back.

My guess is that it will be quite some time before democrats take a gratuitous, cowardly swing at West in the future.

And by the way, it was DWS that ran, whining, to the media with the email in question. Pity she lacked the testicular fortitude to deal with it herself, not unlike our own Jaime Herrera caving into Tim "The Liar" Leavitt.

This entire episode is unfortunate. But it's the byproduct of an increasingly political climate where the needs of the people of this country are secondary to the games these people are playing.

Having served as an Army officer AND having been in politics for the past 23 years or so, I can both understand and support Congressman West's reaction under these circumstances because at some point their targets must fight back.

He should have came back the next day, waited until she was there, called her whatever he wanted and then forcefully responded to what she had said, instead of sending her a whiny email. I just don't get what she said that was so extreme that it warranted this kind of response, and one which didn't even address what was said. Whats crazy about her position? She said Allen West supports a plan that will cut Social Security, cut Medicare and cut Medicaid before even considering raising taxes or taking back subsidies from oil companies. Well does he? He never said. I know that's what the majority of republicans are arguing for right now. How is that position good for senior citizens? You know how you lower the debt, you make budget cuts AND RAISE REVENUE.

Neo-Liberal economic theory (aka Reaganomics) has become the model for both Republicans and Democrats, and has killed the country. It has nothing to do with Republicans or Democrats, they're both spending more than they are bringing in in revenue. That's why we have a debt crisis in the first place. Check the graph below.. Social Security (1935), Medicare and Medicaid (1965) aren't what caused this. Those big spikes at the end of the graph are Bush's tax cuts.

It's a matter of outcomes.

The outcome of all of this is that there's now more info out there that doesn't help the dems (I had no idea DWS was stupid enouigh to organize protests at the campaign office of an adjoining congressional district, for example) and it shined a light on her cowardice.

It showed West will take on all comers. And my guess is that it will be quite some time until somebody tries this again on the floor of the House.

As for the spending aspect, I'm in complete agreement. Both sides are guilty of misfeasance and both sides are guilty of throwing this country under a bus with their horrific spending programs that just bury us deeper in debt.
