I have heartburn with teachers as a whole.  My problems with them as a group stem back around 12 years or so ago, when many (but not all) decided to abandon their classrooms and the children in them (supposedly THEIR pay... and benefits... and retirement... is always somehow about "the children,") and wander around the Capitol Campus... with many of their protest signs misspelled.

It left a lasting imprint on me, because what I missed was any evidence that they were teachers because someone had threatened to kill them or their families if they quit.

You see, to all you whiny, sniveling, bitching teachers, the fundamental weakness of all the MANY weaknesses of your position on this issue boils down to this:

You don't like the pay, the benefits, the retirement of your 183 day-per-year job?

Then fricking QUIT.

What you have is a JOB.  A JOB, get me?  We don't owe you a thing.  You didn't volunteer for this; presumably you have the intelligence God gave a rock ape and you knew, more or less, what the job and the requirements were BEFORE YOU TOOK THE DAMNED JOB.

Particularly when you view the all-too-horrific product you produce... if you can produce any product at all.

Here's the deal: we're in a horrific financial situation that has, comparatively speaking, missed public employees at all levels; pay raises keep coming (some obscene) and your numbers keep growing as a whole.

Where's this "shared sacrifice" nonsense your hero Obama was babbling about so much?

My good fellow (woman?) I graduated back when graduating meant you'd accomplished something, and long before teachers like you were talking point union thugs.  And while I purchased my first computer back in 84 in Germany (A Timex of all things... it's no longer ticking) my ability to use it had nothing to do with "teachers."

JUST THINK IF YOU TOOK SCHOOL SERIOUS YOU TO COULD SPEND $145,000.00 TO GO TO COLLEGE AND BE A EDUCATOR YOURSELF.

As a designated "Outstanding Scholar of America," I think I took it seriously enough.  And that you and some other chumps got charged an average amount of money (Like a teaching degree is any more expensive then any other basket-weaving degree?  Please.) isn't my problem.

Once again, no one forced her to go into teaching.  And presumably, she did her due diligence and knew ahead of time what the costs and the subsequent wages would be.

In short, to this point in your rant, you have nothing to whine about.

A teacher works 7 hours per day in the classroom.  That's what she gets paid for, that what she works.  Anything else is donated.

183 times 7 in her part time job is 1281 hours.  period.

Why is it that anything YOU claim to have done has any relevance to the issue at hand?

The facts remain unassailable by you:

Teachers work part time.

Teachers are overpaid.

Teachers are no more special or deserving of any pay of other consideration then any other job.

Teachers should have known what they were going to be paid when they agreed to become teachers.

And finally...NO ONE FORCES THAT POOR WOMAN MARRIED TO YOUR DUMB ASS TO TEACH, AND SHE CAN ALWAYS QUIT.
