When democrats run the place 12: State Auditor finds fault with Vancouver - are we surprised?

It's bad enough that Pollard and Co. have given taxbreaks to every developer able to walk upright in the downtown extortion known as redevelopment.

But for the city to screw up this badly... AGAIN... and to have their people say "Creager described the payment as a 'housekeeping matter' and said there was never any doubt Vancouver would receive its money. "

So.... when the VHA doesn't have the money for a building permit... they get a pass.

I wonder how often that happens when just plain folks don't have the money?

In short: why the double standard?

State auditor finds fault with Vancouver

Vancouver failed to collect $138,000 in impact fees on downtown's Esther Short Commons project, a violation of city policy that requires all impact fees be paid when building permits are issued.

The city also neglected to promptly pay $601,000 in permit and impact fees on one of its own projects, the Firstenburg Community Center, which is expected to open in east Vancouver this fall.

Washington Auditor Brian Sonntag's office identified those irregularities as part of its review of city financial records and procedures for 2004.

The two items were not considered significant enough to be included in the auditor's formal report, but they were pointed out in an Aug. 15 letter to City Manager Pat McDonnell.
