MY thoughts on the Corona Virus (Kung Flu)

It's difficult not to think about it, since it's in our face 24/7.

I'm in what has been declared to be the highest risk group: 60+

So, I'm taking what I consider to be practical precautions. I'm also waiting and seeing... while I look at impacts around the world.

Some of them are pretty bad.

Facebook is filled with conspiracy theories written by people who have no more idea about this issue than they do on how to perform and abdominal resection.

Many of these posts are pure bullshit, comparing long since dead outbreak totals with the Corona virus impacts which have just started.

Those "comparisons" are statistically irrelevant and frequently use completely outdated numbers to "prove" their point.

The policy of this group is to keep all posts up, excluding those that we get warned about: neither of us will risk the continuation of the group to satisfy the desire of people to spread their perspective around the internet. And that includes the high volume of posts from those who are merely parroting what they've been told.

They post this stuff, it would seem, in an effort to convince people that their position is right.

For most of my life, I've been hearing or seeing a variation of the that same theme concerning Christianity.

If Christianity doesn't exist... then what harm has been caused by living a Christian life, or as close to it as possible?

If Christianity DOES exist... well, we've been acquainted with the harm that guessing wrong will cause you.

Which brings me to why I wrote this post.

THIS post, for example, is designed to be informative, not to tell you what or how to think.

MY conclusions, therefore, are mine alone. You, of course may, and no doubt will, think what you want. That's up to you.

But here's the reality: I'm not remotely interested in conspiracy theories concerning this issue.

Rightly or wrongly, We The People voted Inslee the power to respond the way he has in a recent election. Look up SJR8200, which WE passed by a 2:1 margin, granting the governor emergency powers, my thoughts of his idiotic political actions aside

There are many who feel both Inslee and the President have acted unconstitutionally. There are many, historically, who felt that Lincoln and Roosevelt acted unconstitutionally when they suspended habeas corpus.

The Supreme Court disagreed.

People are dying. ONE death is one too many. The nature of these responses to these deaths is based on the unknown. NO ONE knows how many will be infected. NO ONE knows how many will die from this.

I find myself in the position of supporting the actions of government in this matter for a few simple reasons.

1. Here in Washington State, WE gave Inslee these powers. We cannot, on one hand, enable him to do these things and then bitch when he does them.

2. NO ONE has a complete handle on this issue. Both sides quote doctors and articles and everything that goes with it. Both sides "prove" their points.

3. Many of these same attitudes have been expressed on a variety of issues, such as HIV and so forth.

I don't know a whole lot about medicine. And as a result, I've adopted a "wait and see" attitude.

I may be wrong. But I'm not willing to bet my life or anyone else's on it.

By all means, think what you like. As for me?

When the alternative is martial law?

I'll get over it.

And, BTW? Leave Franklin out of it.

(If you have any better ideas, then feel free to put them here. But coming across like an anti-vaxxer won't help your case.)

Time to STOP trying to justify our opposition to the Sexxx bill

This was a response to a leftist trashing opposition to this insane bill.  (SB5395)

The premise here is that she wants to know what basis we have for opposing this idiocy and she'd "really like to know."

Here is my response:
No you wouldn't. Your mind is made up and you'll deflect anyone who wrote anything in response.
See, this issue is up to parents. I get that as a leftist, you believe parental rights are an arcane concept, and that as parents, you demand that we be totally responsible for everything our kids do, including financially responsible, while believing in simultaneously decreasing parental authority every way you can.

You assign adult rights to children and cut the parents out as part of your communist agenda.... all while we remain responsible for our kid's actions.  That attitude would fit in perfectly with Stalinists or Nazis.

Our theoretical 14 year old daughter gets an abortion without our knowledge. Complications set in, and we wind up taking her to the hospital, where she hopefully survives.

Who pays for that? Who helps the daughter that now may no longer ever be capable of having kids when she's an adult?

See, as parents, we don't have to justify any decision we make to you, or to government.

When we say "no" to this, then "no" it is.

And what this has accomplished, besides reinforcing the reality that schools are less for education and more for inculcation, is that it will result in a massive exodus from our horrific, non-performing schools that are pumping out illiterate cretins instead of educated adults.

In many school districts, we're lucky if 50% of kids perform at grade level, massive, unjustifiable, unconscionable pay raises notwithstanding, and this idiocy will take even more time away from what kids are in school to learn: math, reading, English and science.

Not that any of that matters to you.
That was my response and it needs to become our response.

We don't have to justify opposition to any bill or rule... because our opposition will not make any difference to their agenda.

That we oppose it is enough.  Why we oppose it makes zero difference to those supporting this.  So stop trying to justify or explain the basis for our opposition because there is NOTHING we can say that will convince any of them.

There is an initiative being written up to repeal this stupidity.  Let's focus our efforts on that.

Bill Josh and when the fringe right uses leftist censorship.

I've been in a spirited debate in a Facebook Group, Citizens for Kalama, discussing reasons to oppose their most recent failed school levy.

Earlier today, I was explaining a post I had made in another Cowlitz County group, Cowlitz County News. (CCN)

There's a state representative by the name of Jim Walsh, R-19, who uses social media as a campaign platform.  Nothing wrong with that.  Facebook can be a useful tools for politicians, even those using it to take credit for things that, well, they really don't deserve credit for.

Like many claiming GOP membership, Walsh has shown a critical lack of vision and that, it would appear, his label of "Republican" is frequently more a matter of convenience than reality.

Whenever Walsh does anything, he takes to social media to brag about whatever it is.

Well, one of the people who runs CCN has completely bought into the Walsh cult, and he simply will not tolerate statements of opposition to Walsh, particularly those that are specific and accurate.

Now, I find it impossible to support anyone who voted for the horrific McCleary budget scam that has helped to both cause our property taxes to explode AND using billions of our tax dollars, heavily enrich the WEA generally and teacher's unions specifically.  With his vote FOR McCleary, Walsh betrayed us as much as Rivers, Wilson or Paul Harris.  The result has been major property tax increases as McCleary is implemented, and, the issue that was used to try and sell McCleary, that it would put an end to school levies, is, as expected, completely ignored.

Further, in response to the recent State Supreme Court ruling that fully applied I-276 (1972) (which had the short title of the Public Disclosure Act) to the Legislature (who had literally taken it upon themselves to decide they were exempt from that initiative) Mr. Walsh dropped (actually, in this case, "dropped" means "wrote") a bill that he felt "clarified" the Supreme Court's decision.

Which brings me to the LONG title of I-276:

The official long title of the Public Disclosure Act was
An ACT relating to campaign financing, activities of lobbyists, access to public records, and financial affairs of elective officers and candidates; requiring disclosure of sources of campaign contributions, objects of campaign expenditures, and amounts thereof; limiting campaign expenditures; regulating the activities of lobbyists and requiring reports of their expenditures; restricting use of public funds to influence legislative decisions; governing access to public records; specifying the manner in which public agencies will maintain such records; requiring disclosure of elective officials' and candidates' financial interests and activities; establishing a public disclosure commission to administer the act; and providing civil penalties.
Now, I boldfaced parts of that title on purpose.

Mr. Walsh's bill would have gutted I-276, using the following language:
2) This section shall not be construed to modify the scope or

25 applicability of any other exemption to disclosure provided by law.

26(3) For the purposes of this section, "constituent" means any

27 member of the public, except:

28(a) Lobbyists required to register under chapter 42.17A RCW,

29 public employees who lobby under RCW 42.17A.635, and lobbyist's

30 employers as defined in chapter 42.17A RCW, when acting on behalf of

31 another person or entity; and

32(b) Public officials acting in their official capacity.
The language Walsh used would have specifically exempted  communications of any type from lobbyists, public employees, any company acting on behalf of another person and, of course, any public officials "acting in their official capacity."

The big question?

That's where the boldfaced parts came in:
An ACT relating to campaign financing, activities of lobbyists, access to public records, regulating the activities of lobbyists; governing access to public records; specifying the manner in which public agencies will maintain such records; requiring disclosure of elective officials' activities;
Why?  What is Walsh trying to hide?  Why is he doing this?

Now, when you look at this, there can only be so many reasons.... so many motives.

Sadly, none that I can think of that rise to the level of honorable.  It looks like I'm going to have to look into this and find out.

Now, I've made several attempts to discuss this horrific bill that simply ignores the will of the people while protecting legislators (of which, Mr. Walsh is one) from the transparency required by the initiative with Mr. Walsh.

He refuses.  That does not stop him from publicly castigating me because somehow, the WAY I write about this legislative abortion OFFENDS Mr. Walsh.

Earlier, I mentioned that I had responded to a post I can no longer access, wherein the poster assured me that Walsh had done no such thing of what I claimed he had done..

I spelled out, by excerpting the bill and providing links to the bill itself, in excruciating detail, how, in fact, Walsh had done the exact thing this woman had claimed he had NOT done.

Fast forward a few hours.

This is where I tie it all together.

Those in rabid support of the Kalama levy, which lost 56% no to 44% yes, are, in some part, a brutal lot.  Some have demanded that I be removed from the page because of my opposition to their effort.  Some demand that I move out of the area. Others attack me individually.  There was a thread late yesterday that must have had a 100 or more posts of some of the most obtuse, misleading and inaccurate crap I've read about the motives for those opposed.

After all, it "for the kids" (tm).

Suddenly, out of nowhere, this was posted in the Kalama group:

"Someone."  Right.  Because Josh is an expert on all things.... me.

"So I sent them a link."

Interesting.  One wonders why he would have such a link, and chances are, Josh lied when he wrote that. which is ironic, considering.  And if HE sent "them" a link?

How did HE wind up posting it?

Is there any doubt posting this was retaliatory, childish, playground crap?

The link goes to a story, written about me, that is 19 years old.  It was a huge, above the fold expose' by the local daily democrat newspaper.... a page they've maintained for 19 years, just for occasions like this.

But the fascist aspect of it.... the communist aspect.... is in the above pictures of the little chat I had with Josh as a result.

And, of course, because of this 19 year old story, Josh is using it to ban me from his Facebook group. The irony is his claim that he doesn't "like or appreciate liars."

It would seem, then, that perhaps he should... also ban himself?

And, it's NOT because I wrote the goods on his hero, Mr. Walsh, you understand, but it is, instead, as a result of a 19 year old, partially accurate hit piece by the local daily rag in Clark County.

Josh, of course, has taken it upon himself, no doubt at some state rep's urging, to attempt to silence me... or, at a minimum, discredit me.

How.... democrat of him.

Nothing that I've written about his hero, Walsh, is inaccurate.  But I suppose Walsh is hearing about it and he believes that cacophony can be brought down to a dull roar by engaging in this sort of thing.

And having Josh carry his water while he keeps his skirts clean.

This ain't my first rodeo, you see. One knows about the use of surrogates when one is attempting a verbal political assassination.

Their problem?

I have been attacked by experts.  Physical threats, death threats, elected officials who made a serious effort to have me fired (Right, Senator Rivers?) and except for my volunteer efforts to help veterans, I am completely retired, so that option isn't really available any more.

I loathe politicians like Walsh.  And Rivers.  And Wilson.  And all of the others who betray Republicanism with all of their cutely worded double talk excuses.

What happens next?

I have no idea.  But I expect Mr. Walsh will be seeing the issues of his McCleary betrayal and his efforts to destroy the Initiative we voted into place a great deal more than he might otherwise have seen it.

And he can give Josh all of the credit for it.

What is wrong with Sen. Ann "Gas Tax" Rivers (RINO-18)?

This is a City of Vancouver parking ticket. It's from the car of the Senator of the 18th District. This senator just thought it would be spiffy as hell if the grateful taxpayers of the State of Washington actually reimbursed her for her fine.

Ann,
Just got off the phone with Derrick Wolfe in Accounting. He said that the legislature doesn’t reimburse for parking violations, and upon a closer look the picture that was uploaded to the Expenditure.

The 25.00 will be denied , that is all.
Kindly,

Legislative Assistant to Senator Ann Rivers

Ann Rivers doing a selfie of a parking ticket she attempted to get taxpayers to pay for.

Remember, this is the same Senator that ripped off the taxpayers SEVENTEEN THOUSAND, FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR HEDGES!
That should pay an awful lot of parking tickets.

Now, Sen. Rivers, who is largely responsible for implementing the highest gas tax and tab fee increases in the history of this state, as well as the largest property tax increases we have ever known as she sold us out to the WEA and teachers generally while being hired by a democrat campaign firm, Strategies 360, has a great deal top say about a lot.

She has, in fact, become the very thing people generally loathe in politics: a dishonest, arrogant, unresponsive and clueless elected official who lies at the drop of a hat and simply does not care what her constituents want or think and who will publicly attack those wise enough to hold her accountable for her hideous "representation" of the 18th Legislative District.

Yet, oddly, she hasn't seemed to have a great deal to say about THIS.

Wonder why?

This happens all too often.  People with idealism and a plan to be "different" get elected... and in a matter of a few short years (in Rivers' case, just over 4) they become completely co-opted by the special interests who know own them like the 13th Amendment didn't exist.

If these legislators get their way, we would not be able to find these sorts of things out about those we elect.  Rivers, among others, doesn't like the kind of transparency the law calls for and the State Supreme Court has ruled must be implemented.

Integrity (or the lack thereof) is best demonstrated by what you do when people aren't looking.

Well.... no one has been able to look.

Until now.

There is a great deal more records to review.  You can bet this isn't the last bit of underhanded crap she's pulled.  And even though the amount in question of $25 just ain't that much?

It clearly shows that there is no floor she won't sink below.  And if she'll try this for chump change, imagine how "approachable" she is on the big ticket items.
