Our Veteran's Administration in action.

Incidents like these are why I want our state legislators to get involved...

Could a system like the one I envision have made a difference?

Maybe.  Maybe not.  But until I can get them to act, we won't know.

Here's the video:

Veteran Died Who Lit Self On Fire

Fire Suicide 3
Benjamin KrauseThe veteran who lit himself on fire outside the Atlantic County CBOC in Northfield, New Jersey has died according to a police statement. Photos of the suicide site show the veteran lit himself on fire 75 feet from the entrance of the VA clinic.

NEAR MEDIA SILENCE ON VETERAN SELF-IMMOLATION

The media has been very quiet about the self-immolation of an unnamed veteran on Saturday who received mental health treatment from the VA clinic. He was taken by helicopter to a hospital but died later that day.
I received these photos from a person familiar with the situation and posted them here to give readers a better idea of what happened since the media has been so tight-lipped.
Why do you think the media is quite about this story given the linkage between VA’s continued failures to provide adequate mental health care to veterans and this self-immolation?
Northfield VA SuicideDespite the near media blackout, veterans have been very vocal about the suicide and about potential links between the suicide and poor mental health care quality due to the VA telehealth system utilized at the facility. That Northfield VA clinic moved to the new location in 2011 and boasted at the time that the move would increase access to care by making use of better technology.
Apparently for the veteran in question, the mental health care quality was insufficient. I will be doing a write-up tomorrow about a linkage between VA telemedicine and the poor quality care at the facility. Be sure to comment on any resources you dig up about the facility to keep readers informed about your research.
What do you think about the VA telehealth system and its ability to adequately treat mental health?

So... is Rivers running for re-election?

Oddly, she doesn't have a campaign website up.  She HAD one, but I beat her to death with it for using it to lie to get elected.

Yeah, I know she's out there fund-raising... at least to the extent allowed during session... but her pet hamster, Shane Bowman, hasn't reported a dime.

Rivers has literally been throwing money away at an astounding rate.

$10,000 to Bank of America.

For what?

$6,610 for a livestock auction.
$3,525 to the Skills Center for a "sponsorship."
$2,000 to the Salvation Army.
$1,360 to the Rock Solid Teen Center.
$1,300 to that fake Republican group run byt that whack job, Carolyn Crain.
$1,000 to Clark County Food Bank.
$1,000 to the Ridgefield Library.
$1,000 to the North County Food Bank.

And, another thousand to the Salvation Army.

And $500 more to Rock Solid.  And $401 to the North County Food Bank again.

$245 for "beef processing?"

So, as I look at those numbers... of $42,000 spent... easily $30,000 of it has a zero relationship to campaign expenditures.

Why?

Brandon Vick has become Rivers' bitch.  He voted the same way on the gas tax that Pike did.  Pike has been doing everything possible to get back in the CCRINO's good graces.  Vick has suffered zero ill-effect from Rivers' wrath.

So, here's a scenario:

Rivers moved up to the senate when Joe Zarelli bailed so he could make a fortune in pot manufacture support.

Rivers got the nod from Zarelli.  At the last second, she filed for the Senate keeping anyone else from doing so.

What about this:

Vick does the exact same thing.

Rivers bails for her high-dollar job that she's been promised in return for her betrayal on the gas tax/tab fee scam she ran to get elected.

Rivers bails at the last second, Vick gets on the ballot taking her place for the senate at the last second and Bowman shifts to Vick's seat.  Pike is shut out, and can only run for her own House seat.

That could explain why Rivers is dumping her cash and hiding/paying BoA so much with, no doubt, more to come.

Brussels before the terrorist attack yesterday.

In yet another sign that the Belgium government bears a large part of the responsibility for yesterday's slaughter in Brussels, here is the video of their recent ad campaign that stupidly downplays the threat in the name of tourism.

UTAH CAUCUS: First hand insider report - Incompetence, Manipulation, and Ballot Stuffing!!!
Just got back from my caucus... My head is still spinning.

Check in was slow but reasonably controlled. Super-long lines. I've never seen turnout like this.

Got my credentials, but no presidential ballot. They said those would be delivered to our caucus room.

Got to my caucus room. I counted about 120 people there (no idea how many were actually registered and credentialed).

We elected Precinct Officers, State Delegates, and County Delegates - the typical incompetence and ignorance of the rules you'd expect to see from volunteers, but all went somewhat smooth.

...Then came the Presidential Ballot.

Someone shows up with a stack of probably 250 ballots. The precinct chair splits them up, and starts handing stacks of them out and tells people "take one and pass it down".

No checking credentials, IDs, NOTHING.

I'm sitting at the end of a row and people start handing me stacks of extras. I literally had over 50 ballots in my hand.

We were told to mark our vote and place our ballot in a tin can. They then asked for a volunteer to hold the can. At this point, most people filed out the door.

I cast ONE vote, then stuck around to see what would happen with the votes.

About 15 minutes later, with only about 10 or so people milling around, someone walks in the room with an envelopes STUFFED full of "absentee" ballots - some envelopes having 2-5+ ballots.

I raised a question and said, "isn't there an absentee process already in place? Didn't people have to register for that last week?" and was told "Oh no, this is completely normal".

As I've mentioned in other threads, I was in Party leadership for 6 years and no, this is absolutely not normal.

I then asked if I could observe the vote count, and I was told my observations where not needed and to leave the area while the ballots were being counted.

I left the room (things were already a complete Charlie Foxtrot at this point) and wandered over to my friends precinct caucus to see if it was just as much a cluster.

His caucus was just getting to the presidential ballot, and as I walked in the door I was handed ANOTHER BALLOT.

Again, no credential check, no ID check, NOTHING.

No, I didn't vote again...

I went back to my precinct and they had the results:
74% Cruz
14% Trump
11% Kasich

Now just imagine this kind of outright incompetence/manipulation happening in 2000 precincts across the state.

As I left the building, I started overhearing results coming back from other precincts... Overwhelmingly numbers for Cruz... Like 70-90% or more. (In one precinct Cruz got around 100, Trump had 2, Kasich 0)

Bottom line... They basically are going to post whatever the hell numbers they want.

There were no apparent controls, no credential checks, no ID checks, and ballots being handed around like napkins.

UTAH RESULTS ARE A COMPLETE SHAM

And it just cost Trump 40 delegates.

Sigh: the responsibility of Belgium and France and others for the Brussel's attack.

We all know by now of yet another terrorist attack that took place this morning; this one in Belgium... Brussels, to be precise, where at least 34 were slaughtered directly with more to likely come, and 230 or so plus were maimed but not killed... including at least 9 Americans.

At this point, some might say that Belgium is as responsible for this attack as a gun manufacturer is for the robber shooting someone.

But I was struck by a newsflash:  Post terrorist-attack, Belgium had launched a series of raids "across the country."

I was genuinely angry to hear that, because I was struck by the question: why did they wait until this attack took place?

Why didn't they do raids last night?  Or yesterday?  Or the day before? or the week or month or year before?

Is Belgium a snapshot of what the United States has morphed into?  Into a womb where terrorism grows?
Who bears the ultimate responsibility for allowing these cancerous tumors to grow?

What can be done about them now?  What should be done about them?

Ultimately, the only surely known answer is not ever going to be "nothing."

But when we look at these enclaves of lawlessness and murder and destruction, we have to ask what HAS been done about them?

The answer is all too frequently the answer we cannot have... and cannot allow:  Nothing.

There are two filters at play here: the filter we here in what is euphemistically called "the West" use to view the world and the filter islamists use when viewing us.

Our filter is what of the here and know. clouded by the niceties of what we call "civilization."

We are horrified at the things islamists do as a matter of course.

They have no qualms about slaughtering innocents, destroying lives, using women as sex slaves, have multiple wives, burning people alive, torturing and mutilating people and animals... murdering, raping and pillaging.

In the West, we recoil in horror at the very idea of it.  We turn away instead of facing it head on...  as if it will just... disappear.

It will not disappear until we eradicate it.

Those leading us do not want to face the harsh, stark reality.

As a people we do not want to pay the price.

As I have watched us crawl into our shells while covering both our eyes and our ears, I know... damned well... that we ARE going to pay.

The only question is when and how much.

What has happened in France, Belgium and Germany is at least partially the fault of the governments of those countries who out of either guilt or compassion or both have made the fateful decision to allow these things to go while losing sight of the unalterable fact that it is incumbent upon those living within their borders to accept the rule and authority of the hose countries they live in... and not the other way around.

Belgium engaging in "raids across the country" is something that should have happened months ago... years ago.  The establishment of the rule of law is not an option; and because these countries have MADE it optional... as ours frequently appears to be doing... they are not paying the obvious price for their intellectual cowardice.

I grieve for the people of these countries who have allowed their governments to victimize them.  But I also put at least part of the blame for these attacks and those to come on us... "us" being the West that's allowed it to come to this.
