Is it time to get out of the Middle East?

"Negotiated settlement with the Taliban?"

How does that work? What does that look like? What do we do when they blow through any agreement like this was 1870 and we'd just signed a treaty with the Indians?

If we could, or if anyone could, do business with the Taliban, we'd be doing it.

But you know as well as I do that the moment we leave, that giant sucking sound will be the Taliban, the Pakistanis, al Qaida and Iran fighting over Afghanistan's corpse.  Then what?

We take care of the "poppy problem" the same everywhere. When we find those fields, we destroy them using defoliant.

Meanwhile, our uselessness in staying in Afghanistan is obvious. Our leaving, however, strengthens terrorism around the world and re-establishes America as the country that can be out-waited into military defeat.

It worked in Vietnam, now it will work in the Middle East. It's our history. It's what they're counting on. It's what the democrats worked so hard to achieve in both wars.  Now it's the outcome they want in every war.

It's the dichotomy of our history. It's based on a lack of will that stretches back decades.

We had a 5 year window of being the world's only nuclear power. We should have used that power to keep anyone else from getting nukes.

We failed in that responsibility. Look at us all now.

Would their have been a Korean War if we had been the only nuclear power?  A Vietnam War?  Would oil be $108 a barrel and climbing? 

What are we to do when Iran gets nukes?

In Afghanistan, however, we must do what must be done. That means replacing the Karzai people, of course, but with who?

Our so-called leadership is already viewed as milquetoasts of the highest order. They showed rank incompetence in the Libyan situation; those people... the rebels... are hung out to dry as much as we hung the Kurds out to dry under Bush 1.

Sometimes, Obama is just too damned much like Kennedy.  And by that, I mean, too much like the thought process that resulted in the Bay of Pigs fiasco, where we made all these promises, including air cover; we let the invasion start, and then pulled the air cover, dooming thousands to death and imprisonment.

Trump is right.  When it comes to oil, the time has come to make these people pay for our effort... or we withdraw and let them duke it out with Iran and the terrorists. Meanwhile, our economy teeters on the brink because, once again, we lack the testosterone to do what must be done... and now events control us, instead of the other way around.

We seem to be enmeshed in flypaper: the more we struggle to get out, the more we're stuck.

I don't have the answers. I just have a lot of questions. And the people we're paying to answer these questions?  Like Ridgefield Barbie? Are you kidding me?

Why would Qaddafi agree to a ceasefire?

Come on, people.

For Qaddafi, there is precisely zero percentage in a cease fire.

For Qaddafi, that would just mean re-supply and training for the rebel army.  Why the hell would he ever agree to such a thing?

This is the result of Obama's military incompetence.  Deer paralysis is not the way to win a war, and now we look like a bunch of clowns... deservedly.

Either hunt this guy down and blow him away, or get the hell out and leave him alone.  Let's skip the hearts and flowers BS, because if humanitarian reasons only apply in Libya, that makes us rank hypocrites in The Ivory Coast, Darfur, Somalia, Bahrain, Yemen, Iran and on and on.

Of course, we all knew this was going to be the outcome with the Empty Suit in charge... right?

Want to get around those polygamy/bigomy laws?

Just get married to additional wives in a country(s) where polygamy is allowed, and then bring them back here.  Voilà!

And, of course, the homosexual lobby in the Washington State Legislature will naturally run a bill that the governor will sign to recognize your marriages here, right?

Devastating New Ad Might Be Game Changer in Wisconsin’s Crucial April 5th Election

As is the case with any important election, events are happening fast as we approach the final weekend prior to the crucial Tuesday April 5 vote that will ultimately decide the future of Wisconsin for a generation to come. In one corner, you have sitting State Supreme Court Justice David Prosser, a reliable 4-to3 tie-breaking vote in favor of judicial restraint. In the other corner, Joanne Kloppenburg, a die-hard lefty with zero judicial experience who has all but promised the state’s thuggish public unions that she will be their firewall in stopping Governor Walker’s reforms via judicial fiat.

We all know Democrats and public unions plays dirty. That’s not the question. The question is only how dirty, and in their bid to get Kloppenburg on the court, they played it as dirty as anyone can — going so far as to exploit a victim of sexual abuse. Here’s a disgusting smear that’s been airing non-stop in Wisconsin for a week now:

The ad buy was for a full $3 million but immediately upon release the victim, Troy Merryfield, asked Kloppenburg to call for the ad to be taken down, calling it “offensive, inaccurate, and out of context.” Incredibly, Kloppenburg refused, and residents of my home state tell me that as of yesterday the smear was still airing ad nauseum on every channel.

Obviously disgusted with the Left shamelessly exploiting what was obviously as traumatic and painful an experience anyone can go through, Merryfield bravely took to the airwaves today with a devastating ad that Milwaukee talk radio host Charlie Sykes has learned is part of a massive buy:

Other things are happening as well, not all of them good. Obviously timed for maximum effect, former Wisconsin Governor Patrick Lucey — a Democrat — abruptly resigned as honorary co-chair of the Prosser campaign last night and endorsed Kloppenburg. A stunning betrayal … but this is what Democrats do.

Employing the Nazi tactics they are becoming increasingly known for, unions in Wisconsin have begun an effort to extort support from business around the state.

Wisconsin Union Boycott Threats Border on Illegal

You may have seen news that Wisconsin’s AFSCME public-sector union is threatening businesses with possible boycott if they refuse to voice support for the union position. Obviously, it’s pretty galling — and potentially illegal.

The Journal-Sentinel reported that AFSCME Council 24 has informed local business that they must put a sign in their window showing their public support for the union’s position or “Failure to do so will leave us no choice but (to) do a public boycott of your business. And sorry, neutral means ‘no’ to those who work for the largest employer in the area and are union members.”

Translation: That’s a nice business you got there. It would be a shame if something happened to it.

That sounds like a fairly explicit threat to harm a company’s business. So it’s worth noting these Wisconsin laws*:

943.30 Threats to injure or accuse of crime. (1) Whoever, either verbally or by any written or printed communication, maliciously threatens to accuse or accuses another of any crime or offense, or threatens or commits any injury to the person, property, business, profession, calling or trade, or the profits and income of any business, profession, calling or trade of another, with intent thereby to extort money or any pecuniary advantage whatever, or with intent to compel the person so threatened to do any act against the person’s will or omit to do any lawful act, is guilty of a Class H felony.

943.31 Threats to communicate derogatory information. Whoever threatens to communicate to anyone information, whether true or false, which would injure the reputation of the threatened person or another unless the threatened person transfers property to a person known not to be entitled to it is guilty of a Class I felony.

A threat to injure a manager’s reputation unless a job is offered violated this section.
State v. Gilkes, 118 Wis. 2d 149, 345 N.W.2d 531 (Ct. App. 1984).

And:

134.01 Injury to business; restraint of will. Any 2 or more persons who shall combine, associate, agree, mutually undertake or concert together for the purpose of willfully or maliciously injuring another in his or her reputation, trade, business or profession by any means whatever, or for the purpose of maliciously compelling another to do or perform any act against his or her will, or preventing or hindering another from doing or performing any lawful act shall be punished by imprisonment in the county jail not more than one year or by fine not exceeding $500.

It's this kind of thing that makes me passionately despise public employee unions.
