Hillsboro does it the right way: Yakima Bears + Stadium = no tax... OR FEE ON TICKETS.

Wow.  The world didn't end after all, did it?

We all recall the efforts of the Yakima Millionaires to hose us with an absurd admissions tax for their ballpark scam... fees on all kinds of tickets that have nothing to do with baseball; movies, golf, Amphitheater, even the county fair would have had their grubby paws all over it.

Well, the country hicks of Hillsboro have stepped up to get bent over by, you guessed it, those same Millionaires.

Oddly, THIS stadium is 8 or so million dollars cheaper then the deal they were trying to scam us with. (A $22.7 mllion dollar rip off)

And guess what?

Those going to watch these little leaguers play ACTUALLY HAVE TO HELP PAY FOR THE BALLPARK!

Gee.

Whoda thunk it.

The estimated $284,000 in annual operating expenses are expected to be covered by the annual $150,000 rent, plus a $1 surcharge on each ticket, $5 parking fees per vehicle, an estimated $105,000 in naming rights annually and estimated $60,000 in annual revenue from additional events and revenues at the stadium. The city will tap into the general fund if there's a gap between the revenue and operating expenditures.

Remember how these slimeballs and Steve Stuart were all hot-to-trot to nail EVERYONE with a 5% fee on tickets?

That meant that those of us going to a movie were actually going to pay more money for the Millionaire's rip off then the idiots going to the stadium!  And NO taxes will be imposed or increased to build this!

The city would finance construction of the stadium by issuing bonds, which the council approved at a meeting on May 15. No public vote is needed on the bonds, as the city won't raise taxes for the construction, according to city documents. The bonds will be repaid from within the city budget.

Odd, isn't it, how Hillsburrito has figured out a way to build a ballpark with a capacity of 1500 MORE people for $10 million LESS, and those going to a movie or playing golf in Hillsboro WON'T HAVE TO PAY SO OTHERS CAN WATCH A BALLGAME!

What does Hillsboro know that the idiots in Vancouver who were so hot to install this rip off (Without a vote, of course... can't let the people of this county have any say on a rip off, can we?) don't?

And for the record; if the clowns behind this in Clark County had put a similar deal together... it's likely that it at least would have had a chance of happening, instead of the outright theft and extortion they WANTED to impose.
