When your State Supreme Court gets stuck on stupid: Can't vote on red light cameras.

"The legislature’s grant of authority does not extend to the electorate.”

Really?

Do you suppose they didn't read this part:

ARTICLE I
DECLARATION OF RIGHTS

SECTION 1 POLITICAL POWER. All political power is inherent in the people, and governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, and are established to protect and maintain individual rights.
Odd, isn't it?

ALL political power is "INHERENT IN THE PEOPLE."

Seems rather broad, doesn't it?

Yet, our state's Supreme Court has seemed to find a way to ignore that, because having read the state constitution rather closely, I failed to note the "red light camera" exemption.

The idea that The People... can't vote on ANYTHING... is an absurd anathema and affront to democracy, particularly when you view it in terms of our state constitution.

Just sayin'.
