My First Nominee to the Leftist Scum Hall of Shame: Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA)

Earlier, democrats decried what they believed to be the “Politicization of the Relief Effort” because of Karl Rove’s appointment to run that effort.

So… what do we have from Sen. Landrieu? Why, a threat. A threat against the President of the United States.

And, what IS her threat?

She has threatened to punch the President if he criticizes Louisiana officials for their despicable conduct during the emergency and since the hurricane hit.

Now, I must admit, I, personally, would look forward to such an effort from Sen. Landrieu, primarily so I could knock her into next week if she were to try such a thing with me.

But her efforts are nothing more nor less then MORE of the very thing the democrats allegedly want to avoid: the politicization of the disaster of Hurricane Katrina.

That this woman believes that officials at all levels… from the President on down, should not be subjected to the same scrutiny as FEMA is the worst political hypocrisy I’ve ever seen. That she believes that these officials are somehow beyond criticism for their efforts shows such astounding ignorance of what went on there that this woman could easily be called a menace to society and certainly a menace to the Government of the United States.

I, personally, urge the President to give her one single opportunity to withdraw her despicable and bilious comments, and then, should she fail to do so, I would have her arrested and tried for her actions. Failure to do so invites the same kind of pig slop from other, equally inclined individuals, who would freely use her actions as a stepping stone for their own treasonous remarks.

Threatening the President is, of course, a federal felony. Landrieu should be censured and removed from the Senate immediately.

Sen. Mary Landrieu: I'll Still Punch Bush

Sen. Mary Landrieu refused on Friday to withdraw or apologize for her threat to punch President Bush if he criticized Louisiana officials - despite Bush's magnanimous speech Thursday night and a federal down payment of more than $60 billion dollars to rebuild her state.

"I do not take it back, I don't apologize for it. I said I would punch anybody, including the president," she told the Chicago Tribune.

"Though threatening the president is a crime," the Tribune noted - "the Secret Service took it as a joke and the White House brushed off her remarks."

Standing in the Capitol, however, Landrieu made it clear she wasn't joking.

"These local officials were heroes," she contended, before saying she meant every word of her threat.

Appearing on ABC's "This Week" four days after Katrina's floodwaters swamped New Orleans, Landrieu complained: "If one person criticizes [Louisiana], or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally."

After saying she stood by her ugly comments, the Louisiana Democrat also offered praise for the president on Friday, saying the Katrina reconstruction plan he outlined in his speech was "innovative and bold."
