Gee. Tough act here.
It's likely the NFL knew all of the info inside the report they needed to know to conclude that Brady was, at best, in league with the cheaters; at worst, their ringleader... Before the Super Bowl.
So, instead of acting on what they likely already had, they let him play in the Super Bowl.
It wasn't deflated balls that won for New England, it was stupid play calling on Pete Carroll/Darrel Bevell's part.
The question here is what to do now?
Like him or hate him, Tom Brady is a football icon. Socially clueless and arrogant, to be sure, but he is one of the best who ever played the game, based on outcomes.
They won the last Super Bowl.
What to do?
Well, if they fine him a million... or ten million... or a hundred million... so what?
That would be like giving George Soros a parking ticket.
The ONLY thing that would make an impact is to take him off the field. And I don't mean that typical 4 game thing. I mean for a year, minimum.
Otherwise, anything else opens the NFL up to pre-Ray Rice special treatment allegations. Otherwise, minor penalties become a part of the cost of doing business.
Do they care? Are they sitting around a table right now, worrying that riots will start in Baltimore if they don't nail this white boy? It's merely a game of numbers, after all.
It will be interesting to see if NFL commissioner Goodell can actually earn his $44 million or so this year.
NFL: 'PROBABLE' PATRIOTS DELIBERATELY DEFLATED BALLS...
BRADY 'GENERALLY AWARE' OF RULES VIOLATION...
Gave attendants signed balls, cleats in exchange for leaking air...
'Remember to put a couple sweet pig skins ready for tom to sign'...
KRAFT STATEMENT...
