More democratian hypocrisy? Of course!

There was more babble today from Greg, I guess, where Rome is burning and he's all upset about the design of the drapes.

Today's much ado about nothing, and back-handed shot against Benton (The only reason they mention this at all) is about meals legislators accept.

It's chump change, of course... like complaining about parking tickets in the midst of a wave of serial murders.

Roger Neilson, a regular and unusually sane commenter (Surprising they haven't banned him yet, since he frequently disagrees with the scum at the rag, and we all know what happens to those who disagree) points out the rank, reeking hypocrisy of this babble:

On numerous occasions The Columbian editorial staff has railed against the State legislators practice of charging for apartments, dry cleaning, phone bills, and now for accepting meals paid for by lobbyists - always falling back on the standard alibi that you aren't saying they're breaking any rules, but the perception of impropriety is what matters. Yet when people point out that having a Mayor who votes on actions that benefit TriMet, when the firm he works for does business with that agency, creates that same perception of impropriety, The Columbian does everything possible to help portray those people as wackos who shouldn't be taken seriously. There's a bit of inconsistency with all of this.

With the possible exception of some minor understatement, he is dead on target.

The corruption and illegality by Mayor McFly, aka Tim "The Liar" Leave-it is obvious, well known and proven.  Yet this despicable rag ignores it, so they can moralize about a few hundred dollars in meals.

Comparatively speaking, this truly is an argument over the 2nd class china patterns on the Titanic after that little bump against the ice-cube.

Of course, The Liar gets a pass because he's their bitch now, having lied to get elected and all.

But when it's their bitch that's obviously and provably corrupt?

They want to talk about meals.

Not hundreds of millions of our dollars.

Which is why I just refer to them as "scum" and let it go at that.
