Hearing from several sources: Steve Stuart is gone. Now what?

I've been hearing it from a variety of sources for the past few weeks:  expect the announcement any minute; Steve Stuart is either going to take the number one or two position in the Department of Ecology.

Back during the recount, Steve Stuart (Who was a member of the Canvassing Board) told me that he'd been appointed to Inslee's "transition team."

I immediately told him that he was obviously under consideration for an appointment.

He denied it, and said he wasn't going anywhere.  But that made no sense for a variety of reasons.

It was inevitable.  It's likely that any Republican who makes it to the general election either this year (as a result of Stuart's impending departure, a caretaker will be chosen... has to be a democrat, but we all know the only democrat who'd be in the top three would be a CRC/downtown mafia lackey who wouldn't survive the next general election) or next year as Stuart is up would win.  Stuart knows that, because anyone who runs opposed to the crap pile known as the CRC will pound him.

Further, he's looking at a minimum of being on the wrong end of every vote... just like he made Mielke the wrong end of every vote.  he can stand in the back and throw grenades for a couple of years.... and then what?

Democrats can't win in Congress here: even against a complete idiot like Herrera, this is GOP country.  So.... were would a Steve Stuart go?  What would he do?

Whatever that is, he can't use Clark County as his launching pad.  His dogged and tin-eared insistence on supporting the massive rip off means he's done around here locally and likely couldn't get elected dog catcher.

That likely means at this point that Paul Harris will be the next elected county commissioner.  There really isn't anyone who can beat him in the commissioner's race:  He only needs to survive to the general and he will win county wide much like Mielke if he's militantly opposed to the CRC scam... just like Mielke.

So, with a likely commissioner Harris, what's that mean for replacements?

Who will get the appointment?

Well, it can't be a Paulbot.  They'd get crushed in the general by Probst, who, if he wants to run would be a little more difficult to defeat... although anyone running against Probst who opposed the CRC scam would likely beat him to a pulp.

The problem is that I expect a Paulbot WILL get the appointment, because the Paulbots stupidly believe the people, who have opposed them at every turn, somehow magically support them now.

They don't.

Maybe Julie Olson.  But not likely.

It's interesting.  Hopefully the commissioners will make a pragmatic and not an emotional, partisan view.  Time will tell.

I'm pretty sure Stonier is in favor of CRC, and she didn't get beat to a pulp, so I guess there goes your theory. It's funny that you want Julie Olson to be the one to run against Probst when she got beat by the less imposing Democrat only a few months ago. What is the definition of insanity again?

That you're "pretty sure" is the thing.

The true measure of the outcomes was the vote in the 17th for county commissioner, where the pro-CRC candidates for commissioner were, well, crushed.

The fact is that neither Probst nor Stonier or their opponents made a big deal out of the CRC. They both left it alone because it was radioactive and their opponents were either misreading the massive opposition to that rip off (Benton) or rather stupidly in favor of it themselves *(Olsen) so in their campaigns, it was a draw.

But the CRC scam lost everywhere in in the CTran district and of the two incumbent commissioners, the one who was violently opposed to the CRC (Mielke) received 21,000 more votes than the CRC lackey, Boldt.

Self-delusion and ignorance of the variety you display here may be self-comforting, but it bears little resemblance to the reality of the building hatred of this scam.

If Olson makes her position of opposition to this rip off clear, then she would beat Probst like a rented mule.

But then, so would my Cavalier Spaniel.

So, by all means, keep running the pro-CRC candidates. I look forward to their political slaughter... and you're right: democrats running county wide or outside the 49th supporting this idiocy will get hammered by a properly run campaign.

Again.

And that is insane... for them.

Since you asked.
