So.... who wins between Boldt and Madore?

(FULL DISCLOSURE: NO candidate or campaign or anyone involved or in any way concerned with any candidate or campaign was aware of or approved or had input into this post.

Further, Marc Boldt is my brother in law, and I worked for him as his legislative assistant for 6 years while he was in the state house.)

There's something like an 80% chance that one or the other goes on to the general.  Which one?

We have Boldt, who has run a somewhat better campaign to date than he usually does; that is, for the past several elections he's really done very little to nothing to be re-elected because, primarily, people have confused him with what he used to be, that is, a Republican, as opposed to what he is now: a democrat.

But now, the word is out.  As a result, Boldt has been, for him, relatively speaking, working his butt off to try and keep up with David Madore.

What's problematic and a symptom of Boldt's leftward tilt is, for the first time in the almost 20 years I've known him, Marc Boldt has deliberately and repeatedly lied in his campaign... just like his fellow democrats Steve Stuart, who lied about us getting to vote on light rail LAST November, and Tim Leave-it, who lied about, well, everything.

Boldt's lies are in posts below, concerning taxes and his non-existent efforts to get us the right to vote on loot rail... as opposed to his lie to me, personally, about holding a countywide vote on the entirety of the CRC project.

What's problematic for Boldt was his choice of a self-aggrandizing, incompetent campaign manager and his record of tax increases, rabid support to include a robo-call for the CTran tax rip off, and his support of the biggest theft of funds ever perpetrated on the people of this country for any project, his unconscionable support of replacing an already paid for, perfectly functional and serviceable bridge so that this community can have the blight of loot rail and subsequently generational and ever-increasing tolls that will destroy small business in this county for decades to come... small business that depends on the $100,000,000 in disposable income his efforts will vaporize... all without a vote.

His mailers lie outright, referring to HIS fight to enable ME to have a vote on loot rail; when, in fact, Boldt supported the gerrymandered CTran tax district where roughly 100,000 voters, including myself AND Boldt, are kept from being allowed to vote on this directly... but without protecting us from paying the tax he wants to slam down our throats so badly.

This is as opposed to the mostly self-financing David Madore, who has had to deal with competency issues of his own and a local democrat newsletter known as the democratian who is doing everything it can to provide Boldt with an equivalent in in-kind campaign donations to keep him at least competitive with Madore.

Madore is everywhere: up on TV, up on radio, multiple mailers, with an unlimited war chest to do whatever he wants.

Boldt, on the other hand, has only been doing 2 mailers, some inserts, and relying heavily on the once hostile Columbian (Who has, in the past, demanded Boldt's resignation) but who has since switched since Boldt is marching in lock step with their agenda, even though that agenda only resembles that of the downtown mafia that now owns Boldt lock, stock and barrel.

That said, I have never seen a candidate lose when they've gone up on TV and radio and the candidate they're running against has not... or in Boldt's case, can't afford to.

Right now, there are two stories being prepared at the democratian.

If Boldt makes it into the general, this will be cast as a referendum on the entirety of the CRC, and the triumph of David over a financial Goliath.

If Madore gets past Boldt, it won't be presented as that sort of thing.  Instead, the downtown mafia will spin it like a top.  They'll do what leftists always do: they'll claim... and campaign in the general against him using this, that Madore bought the election because of his financial advantages... as if Boldt, were he similarly endowed, would not have used his own money the same way.

With only one democrat running, I expect him, Battan, to get something on the order of 38%.  Campbell, who, once again has wasted his filing fee, won't break into double digits having been thoroughly repudiated last fall when he was embarrassed in the primary by coming in third to retain his city council seat.

That leaves, say, 55% of the vote.

The democratian's efforts to bolster Boldt have done him almost as much damage as Boldt's own voting record, which is abysmally leftist.  They've attacked Madore for making false statements on his mailers while remaining utterly silent in the face of Boldt's lies on HIS mailers... because, like most leftists, their situational ethics are the order of the day.

The hard corps GOP is likely to go with Madore.  The grass roots are well aware of what a terrible job Boldt has done protecting the people of this county in his efforts to silence us... and his admission that he'd never bothered to even read the GOP Platform as he sold us out on the charter vote... well, that seals the deal.

If the GOP voters stick with Madore, then it's likely that Boldt is done... and he should be.  Between voting to strip us of our weapons in the event of an emergency, lying about repealing that law the next week, violating ethics laws by voting to "lend" money to his wife's employer, raising our taxes every year that he could, stuffing a sales tax increase down our throats without asking us, rabidly supporting light rail, a bridge replacement and life-long, ever-increasing tolls while not allowing us to vote and Madore's money, it's not looking really all that great for Marc.

Another problem Boldt has is the lack of an organized GOTV effort, unless the democrats are doing one for him.  Madore isn't going to have that problem, since the GOP is including him in on that while excluding Boldt.

The unspoken problem here is that many people don't want ANY of the candidates running... and that includes me.

I didn't vote for any of the candidates.  I will never vote for any of those running now, for various reasons:  I will never vote for any candidate who supports any aspect of the CRC (Battan, Campbell, Boldt) without a county-wide vote or who shows serious judgment problems when it comes to people (Madore) so writing in my Spaniel was the only option.

So, who wins?

Between Boldt and Madore, it has to lean towards Madore.  Given the democratian's track record, they're likely to accuse Madore of axe murder or something today to try and shove Boldt over the line, since they've done almost everything else they can think of... purely in the interests of their complete lack of bias... of course.

But right this second, I'd say we're looking at a general that will be Battan and Madore.  And in the general, that likely means Madore will be the next county commissioner... the absolute best effort of the democratian to engage in their daily efforts of character and professional assassination against Madore notwithstanding.
