Drilling down on the wasted Silliman effort.

I'm struck by the effort of the Paulbots to shill Peter Silliman for state representative in my district, the 18th.

Those who impulsively shoved him out there are deluding themselves into believing it was a great idea, well done.

The write-in campaign for Peter Silliman garnered over 1000 votes, which is incredible, but not enough to overcome the two political insiders whose names were actually on the ballot. I saw Pete speak at several events over the course of his campaign, getting progressively more confident with each appearance, and I believe he will make a good candidate with some seasoning over the next two years. To his tremendous integrity, wisdom, and life experience, he will need to add a honing of his message and his ability to communicate it. In my experience, most voters simply check a box with very little information. 1000 people actually took the time to find out about Pete and write his name out. That is something tangible to build on. Don’t play on that new backhoe too long, Pete. Your district still has need of you.

Silliman never had a chance.  What these people foolishly call "incredible" was, in fact, pathetic, impetuous, badly planned and even more badly executed.  He will get as far in 2 years or 20 as a Paulbot, that is to say, no where.

A 1000 people found out about Pete and voted for him?  I would venture to say that 17,000 plus found out about him, rejected him, and voted for someone else.

Like most Paulbots running for office, that was a massive, resounding... 5.76% effort.

This count was a result of the misguided, unsuccessful and wasteful PCO Alliance scam, where all the fuss and feathers resulted in an outcome of PCO elections where no real difference was made, no one in the so-called "establishment" was defeated, and in the end, precisely nothing was accomplished.

In comparison, I need look no further than the efforts of one Matthew Homola, who's campaign consisted of paying the filing fee and absolutely nothing else.

In doing precisely nothing else, he garnered 12.05% of the race he was in for the 17th District House, Position 1.

So, here we have the Paulbots; signs, a so-called grass roots effort, even a practically worthless mailing that explained nothing and provided absolutely no reason to vote for Silliman (if you could actually read the 4X6 card) except that he didn't like Brandon Vick and that Madore had endorsed him.  Silliman talked, he showed up, he will be rejected for the appointment to the House... and that will be that.

Will they get a clue from all of this?

Delusional people rarely do.
