Boldt hits a home run: kills the baseball scam. Memo to Greg Owens: NEVER tell me "there's nothing you can do about it."

Marc Boldt did the only sane thing today when he voted... finally... to kill the baseball deal.

I'll have more on this latter, but for now, the democratian article will have to do.

Earlier, one of the most active shillers of baseball, Greg Owens, told me something to the effect that this was going to happen... the stadium WAS going to be built... and there was nothing I could do about it... or Lew Waters, for that matter.

In an unexpected move, Clark County commissioners did not approve a proposed 5 percent admissions tax to help bring professional baseball here.
It essentially kills professional baseball here for now.
The vote to approve the stadium did not even come to a vote, because there was not a second to even take it to a vote.
Commissioner Marc Boldt was expected to go along with Commissioner Steve Stuart to approve the admission tax. But he did not. Commissioner Tom Mielke was always against it.
"Right now, I am sorry, I can't support it," Boldt said.
Mike Thiessen - one of the men who put together the baseball proposal for Clark County - said he was shocked by the county's move.
He was asked what Plan B was now that it was rejected by the commissioners.
"Plan B doesn't include Clark or Vancouver," he said.
He said there were several markets in Oregon that will now be considered.
