First, he is a big David Hedricks supporter and two:
He views traffic laws as mere suggestions.
I'm not a Larry Smith fan by any stretch of the imagination. He's pro-bridge and pro-loot rail.
But I'm not going to support someone like this:
Vancouver council candidate nabbed driving with suspended licenseMore:

Vancouver City Council candidate Cory Barnes was cited and released early Monday for speeding and driving with a suspended license, Washougal Police said.More like this
The charges are part of a string of 11 traffic infractions in Clark and Cowlitz counties over the last four years, and one charge of possession of drug paraphernalia from 2007.
Barnes, 24, is challenging incumbent Larry Smith for Position 5 on the Vancouver City Council.
Washougal Police stopped Barnes at 1:13 a.m. Monday for driving 15 mph over the 25 mph speed limit on the 600 block of 39th Street, records show. His license was then found to be suspended.
Barnes said Wednesday that he had failed to pay for prior tickets and he was unaware the state had placed a hold on his license as a result.
A Cowlitz County clerk said that two speeding tickets — both for driving 10 mph over the limit — from June 10 and June 16 were both sent to collections. A ticket in Clark County for driving without a seat belt on July 18 and another for speeding 13 mph over the limit on Aug. 1, have also not been paid.
“It’s being taken care of today,” Barnes said. “It’s a third degree infraction — the only reason I was suspended was failure to pay tickets.”
So does that mean like I think you are suggesting that Corey Barnes is just really too young to run for a race for office because he simply doesn't act like a mature adult?
ReplyDeleteI am thinking very similar to how you are feeling about his speeding. If he does not understand that his that laws apply to him just as equally as just any other average joe here in the city of Vancouver, may be he need to look some other place to serve.
When he finally gets his ducks in a row, then maybe he can run for a serious office that has a lot of implications as the city council that has a huge implications for Clark County.
Maturity isn't the problem. He is, after all, the better part of 30.
ReplyDeleteWhat it appears to me to be is the almost genetic arrogance of someone who sees themselves as being above the laws that apply to us.
Contrary to the story, a quick check on the Supreme Court website indicates NINE citations this year.
I, on the other hand, haven't been cited for anything for over 20 years.
So, no... the issue isn't maturity... it's something else... and it's the kind of "something else" I don't want in government... kind of like a somewhat different version of, say, Jon Russell.
