Today's colossal waste of money: $250 million on yet another renovation for Husky Stadium.

.
Last night, Mrs. CCP and I were actually at Husky Stadium so I could watch a sloppy game and see the Dawgs dough-pop UCLA... who went through their 2nd, 3rd AND 4th string QB's in a losing effort, 24-7. As an alum of Dawgville (I was commissioned there in 81 - Army) I've been disappointed... pissed, even... at the huge amounts of money spent... wasted... in rebuilding the stadium... again.... when just a few miles away, we have a perfectly functioning stadium formerly known as Seahawk Stadium, now known as Qwest Field. The key to my position on that is this:

Stadium construction is scheduled to begin Nov. 7, 2011, with the Huskies playing the 2011 Apple Cup and all 2012 games in Qwest Field downtown before returning to Husky Stadium in 2013.

Well, here's a bulletin, Husky Fans:

If the games from the '11 Apple Cup through all of the home games in 2012 are suitable for Qwest Field during that time frame, then EVERY game the Huskies play at home is, you guessed it, suitable for Qwest Field.

So, as it is now, we're wasting $250 million and screwing the kids who will have to pay substantially more to watch a game so the Board of Regents can have their cocktail parties in larger, newer, enclosed and heated facilities while the rest of us freeze.

Amazing, isn't it? Those in power always seem to think their vision superior to ours... it's not unlike the I-5 bridge replacement/loot rail project. Never mind what we want, need or HAVE. We know better, you have no voice... and no choice.

Go, Huskies, Go!
Fight Huskies, Fight!
Go, go, go, go, HUSKIES!

And do it in the bright, shiny, high end comfort of the 25 new suites.

Kelly, you might want do a little googling. Seattle is also wanting & planning on putting light rail system right past that Husky Stadium.

  2. They are actually in the process of building it, in fact. It takes up most of the available ways to get into the stadium from the bus drop opffs on the South side.
