Obama denies it, but the evidence is mounting: He DID discuss his replacement with Blagojevich

.
Obama has denied any communication with Gov. Blagojevich about who would replace him.

His statement here: was fairly straight forward and unambiguous.

Asked what contact he'd had with the governor's office about his replacement in the Senate, President-elect Obama today said "I had no contact with the governor or his office and so we were not, I was not aware of what was happening."

Yet.... yet.... that isn't what David Axlerod, Obama's Chief of Staff has been saying.

Axelrod told Fox: "He has not. I know he has talked to the governor. There's a whole range of names, many of which have surfaced. And he has a fondness for a lot of them."
HHhmmm.... OK, I was actually willing to let that one go... But now, I come to find out this from Little Green Footballs:

Obama Did Discuss Senate Seat with Blagojevich - Update: KHQA Pulls Their Articles
Politics Wed, Dec 10, 2008 at 11:00:02 am PST

Barack Obama has denied ever discussing his Senate seat replacement with Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich.

But that was apparently not true. A November 8th article at the KHQA website reports:

QUINCY, IL — Now that Barack Obama will be moving to the White House, his seat in the U.S. Senate representing Illinois will have to be filled.

Obama met with Governor Rod Blagojevich earlier this week to discuss it.
